Its basically what England did. England even employed a power hitting coach in 2015 and now look at the quality of hitting they employ. Ramiz Raja feels the only way for the Pakistani batsmen to improve their skill set is to employ the use of a power hitting coach.

I think we also need a specialist ODI and T-20 bowling coach who can teach the players on how to keep things tight and to bowl defensively on wickets with nothing in it for the pacers or spinners. Far too often i have seen our bowlers get tonked around the park and with no answers, strategies if the wickets arent coming and the batsmen are going after the bowlers. The Big 5 teams specialize in this art very well and maybe we need to acknowledge that we cannot employ the test match strategies and approaches to our ODI and T-20 teams.

Hopefully the PCB will look at this going forward

I think Pakistan should have a different LOI coach. Misbah is too old school for T20 format.

I think odi and t20 captain should be one and test captain should be one

That would mean 3 coaches! No. Let one person take care of all LOI while one other person takes care of Tests.

I think a separate LOI and test coach can be an option. Having separate ODI and T20 coach has not much possibility.

I actually meant one coach for test matches and one coach for the ODI/T-20 side.

The ODI's and T-20's have now become a specialist game and one coach cannot cover all

Dean Jones reckons it should be 2 coaches - one for red ball cricket and one for white ball.

In an ideal world there should be a coherent strategy between the three formats.

The problem we face is that Pakistan simply does not possess a high volume of intelligent people to work in cricket. We tend to use most of our intelligence for Machiavellian purposes.

No no and no. In order to cover up for one inept coach you will now employ another.

Sure you can create different positions like a power hitting coach or bring in another T20 specialist as an assistant, but there should only be one head coach.

Only a country like Pakistan will make things this complicated. Its not.

Separate coaches for separate formats in Pakistan is a recipe for conflict and disaster.

There's too many egos, politics, poor communication and lack of collective planning as it is. What we need is a coach who understands the requirements of the different formats and adapts their tactics accordingly.

Misbah like so many of our ex-players are stuck in the 90s where their idea of building a successful team is relying on superstar individuals - but today in elite sport there's much greater emphasis on systems and developing strategies to counter opponents. That's why I feel we need a quality data analyst who can collect and interpret data which is easily usable and understood by players. I don't know what our data analyst does or whether he plays Call of Duty while the matches are on.

In sports like basketball and american football, typically members of the coaching staff, assistants, will specialize in one department like offense or defense. And from their the offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator will come up with their own plan and they will go over it with the head coach.

Having multiple coaches will just further exemplify the entire power struggle of Pakistan Cricket and now we will have both coaches act like they run the show.

I second this.

When are we going to play khushdil or haider ali? Fed up with this set up. All teams are going forward and we seem to be going backwards. We dont even have urgency to make a change. Happy to play 80’s style cricket *♂️ I play club t20 cricket at a very low level and one or two players i have seen recently are more rounded then our lot. Can bat (hit the ball), bowl and dynamic in field. Pretty sad set of affairs. I suspect a first round exit at next t20 world cup and yet another rebuild *♂️ Depressing to say the least. At least lose with youngsters so there is some possibility of a positive. Hafeez hitting a fifty is not that!

They both should play.

Haider should bat at number 3 hafeez at 4 ifti at 5 khusdhil at 6.

We all no 2 of them 3 will play go to the world cup so tgats the best Malik is crap

I rather have separate teams rather than separate coaches. We need specialist players for each format. You don’t need one player to play all three formats of the game. Babar and Shaheen can be the only exception.

Very very valid point

The ODI and T20 team should have a majority of the same players and coaches. ODIs these days are literally a longer version of T20s.

I would suggest a change in title because people are wrongly assuming that the OP is suggesting separate coaches for ODIs and T20Is respectively.

How man coaches does a team need? High performance, head, T20, run-out coach, powerplay coach, etc.

If you aren't good enough to coach all 3 then you aren't good enough to be coach. If you have the right man at the helm then what is an specialist LOI coach going to do?

The fact that this question is even being asked shows how bad Misbah is.

Dean Jones wants the top job and always has done, which is why as far as he's concerned the more coaches the better!
