Should Pakistani players show more self respect and avoid BPL?

This has been a common occurence. Misbah who is apparently the captain of one of the franchises has been benched after 3 games. Amir has only played 3 games and has been sitting on the bench. Junaid too has only played 3 games and has been benched. Fakhar Zaman only got 1 game and that's it.

Does the BPL seriously have better players who have replaced these players? Do our PSL franchise owners and coaching staff have the gall to drop and bench foreign players who are not performing?

Personally speaking i think Pakistani players should avoid putting themselves in humiliating positions like this especially in low grade inferior leagues.

These sort of things have happened in prior seasons as well.

Amir has been benched :))

So, all in all a good thing for our fast bowlers. Getting paid without doing much of an effort.

The question is , have the benched players done anything to be in the first team? Just asking

Agree with the point in general, but BPL has a completely different system which has resulted in teams having an abnormally large number of overseas players.

And who are the superior high grade leagues.

Fakhar should play over Samuels definitely.

But Amir was benched because he got in a fight with someone. It's on YouTube check it out.

Lol sure, let's isolate ourselves even further due to a stupid superiority complex over our neighbours.

There is no agenda here. Franchise owners are only worried about winning. If a player does not help in winning, he has to make way for others. Pakistani players play in other leagues also and get benched. Why complain only about BPL?

If they are being paid, they would still go over there and sit around and do nothing.

Most Pak cricketers are very money orientated.

Misbah would be better replaced by me. At least 1 would kick my stumps on ball 1 and not waste balls and make the side lose. His exclusion is 100% correct.

Pakistan players can't be spoiled brats who demand to be played irrespective of performance.

When you play in a real league if you aren't good enough, you won't be on the field.

Only the cricketers should decide if their self respect is hurt when benched in a T20 league. At best they have 10 years career in which they have to secure the financial stability of their family, not like the fans who have nothing to lose, and a stable job, but still having the luxury to preach what self respect should mean to the players.

100% agreed. Don't know how this theory of ignoring Pakistani players came up when they actually have a contract and are being paid for warming the bench. No team would wanna lose a player if he is performing to the optimum so its highly unlikely they are just 'targeting' Pak players.

And as someone above said, why does it hurt if it happens in BPL. Our players don't inherit a spot in playing 11 to feel so aggrieved about if they are dropped. There is no point Pakistani players sitting home doing nothing, its actually better making the $$ when they have a chance to.

Ramiz Raja on Geo was furious over how top star Pakistani players were being treated in a minnow league like the BPL. He appealed to the PCB to increase the salaries, remuneration of the players and to financially compensate them for being selective when it comes to leagues and that the PCB should put their foot down and not allow the players to go and play for each and every league in the world, the only leagues that should be allowed are Big Bash, County but BPL is an inferior league and we as a nation and the Pakistani players themselves should have more self respect, pride in themselves and should not put themselves in a situation where a minnow country and minnow clubs were benching them in preference for local inferior players or for crap players.

Totally echo and agree with his sentiments.

Poor cricketers. At one hand they have to work hard for financial stability, and at the other hand protect the self respect of the nation.

Fake patriotism from many. They'd do anything for cash as some have already shown.

In that case, respect for Faheem Ashraf who refused to take part in BPL and instead played in Faysal T20 cup...

Misbah is in the BPL. Hafeez and Fahim Ashraf are the only one's who didn't go.

Yes but I'm referring to the rupee and cricketers in general. Loyalty, patriotism all goes out the window when the rupee is around.

Earning money legitimately by playing in foreign leagues and spot fixing are worlds apart. Poor comparison.

They can and has happened before in the Zaka era and not a single player was unhappy about it

The main question is CAN THE BPL SURVIVE WITHOUT PAKISTANI PLAYERS?

It had to be canceled after the Pakistani players were banned by PCB.

Have some mercy on BCB guys :amir2

It is easy to say this when we are sat in western countries. The players have a right to make legal money and most have no other skills.

Being benched is not an insult in T-20 leagues. Anyway, they all get paid.

I don't see a reason why they should stop playing in the leagues. There are few players who do not play international cricket and just because they are picked it does not mean they need to play all the games. Teams are changed and players are dropped based on scenarios and team needs. Top players like Steyn, McGrath, Williamson et all have been benched in IPL to get the team combination right.

Junaid got injured. He was a regular

Sami was regular after he found form

Misbah- no comments

Hassan and Malik never benched, only rested.

Amir and fakhar were benched because of team combo

Babar Rizwan Tanvir played matches when available.

Why complain folks?

If anything it was unfortunate for Amir because his team was so strong even sanga was in the dugout

Pakistan players have given great deal of respect in BPL which is why they keep coming to Bangladesh.

Also they love to be in Bangladesh, they are quite popular here. Waqar Afridi reiterated it

I remember when Kamran Akmal was left out of the team in this year's Caribbean Premiere League. The man could not buy a run. Maybe they get benched because they are crap and/or because they have disciplinary issues (possibly caused by the same superiority complex which resulted in this thread)?

Not sure how players losing self respect by playing in BPL? You cannot expect every Pakistani player to be in playing 11 in every match.

Also what's wrong in earning money legally?

If I remember correctly Kamran was benched a lot in BPL 2015 and then complained. The thing is if you don't perform then nothing to be done about it.

BPL has plethora of foreign players, same applies to IPL. PSL and CPL have limited foreign players. Some players are bound to be benched.

Let for example Shakib was benched in the entire IPL 2017. And he is the number 1 T20 allrounder. I know Bangladeshis complained but Shakib and matured fans didn't. It's a matter of quality and team combination.

If anything it's a matter of pride when Pakistanis are picked as foreign players not just BPL but any league. Pakistanis who are quality will keep coming to BPL, so they earn halal money which they deserve.

I loved watching Hassan Ali. Hassan Ali loved it. Now if Misbah performed half as good, wait not, even quarter as good as Hassan you can argue about it.

BPL has some of the biggest names in world cricket. What are you calling minnow league? This comment would be appropriate 3/4 years back but we now have some decent international and domestic cricketers. Foreign big names are also a part of BPL - Buttler Gayle Baz Rashid Baz to name a few.

Ramiz Raza doesnt realize that this is not Afghanistan Shpageeza T20 league. Amir has to compete with Lewis Pollard Sanga Afridi Narine not Soumya Sarkar Masakadza Umar Akmal

Hardly anything to show for at the BPL. Was it really worth it?

I don't fully agree here. If you're own board doesn't pay you handsomely, you have to do whats best for youre family. After all a cricketers life is at the most 10 years before age gets better of you and you are back either in the bench or forced to retire...

PPers are s bit myopic when it comes to their team and their players. IMHO, anything contrary to what an average Pak fan expects to happen is of course a conspiracy / a slight on Pak honour / BCCI manipulation.

Maybe others aren’t bound by the same rope I think?

this thread

They were benched because they were poor performers, take a look at grandpa misbah, but in Amirs case it was mystifying given his terrific ability in LOI cricket, poor selection I guess.

Dhaka Dynamites would have won the BPL if they played Amir in the final...

He’s a big match player.
