Should performances against SL in Test cricket be counted as the same as performing against minnows?

SL are the weakest theyve been since 1996. Seem totally toothless in the bowling department no quality pacers. Herath on his last legs.

Batsman may come good but are too inconsistent.

Have they reached the level of Bangladesh Zimbabwe n West Indies in Test Cricket.

N should performances against them count as such.

West Indies and Zimbabwe didn't whitewash Australia at home so wouldn't quite put them at that level yet.

But yes they are looking very weak, at their lowest point since the 1996 WC. Still reliant on the ageing Herath.

The Board needs to get its act together.

Are you saying that Aus lost 0-3 to a minnow test team? SL is not playing well, but I am not going to read too much into how they play against India in these conditions. India will beat every team comfortably in these conditions.

There are 10 teams that play tests as it is (Thanks ICC!!!). If you start taking out weak teams, you will be left with 2-3 teams at one point.

West Indies lost 2-0, Australia lost 3-0 and Zimbabwe lost 1 match there. Bangladesh managed to draw the series 1-1. How is that minnow level performance?

We better whitewash these Lankans in all formats otherwise I'll be a bit disappointed.

Indians are playing unusually ruthless brand of cricket against Sri Lanka. That is why Sri Lanka are looking this bad.

Any other team than Srilanka would have had same result been forced on them in these conditions by India. There are certain conditions on which Ashwin and Jadeja absolutely thrive on. We are getting those. So no mercy. :))

Sri Lanka has always been a minnow except for 2 periods: one when a chucker led them to victories and the other when they had 2 ATG batsmen in Sangakkara and Jayawardene.

Now they are back where they were before Murali emerged.

This. Came here to type this. India are simply on a different level right now.

Switching coach is doing wonders for them, as a team :kohli

 A different debate. But that's simply disrespectful to a man who gave it all for his country :murali

Guys like Karunaratne and Chandimal haven't stepped and developed into the players they should have been by now. Mathews seems to be regressing as well. Kusal Mendis and Dickwella are still too inexperienced and will be incosistent.

Everyone keeps talking about SL struggling since Sanga, Mahela and Murali retired but they were also supported all these years by some very good players like Jayasuriya (somewhat underrated as an opener in tests), Dilshan (underrated player, became one of the best openers in tests and ODI after 2009), Samaraweera and Vaas.

Mathews is also a coward hiding down the order. All these years and he is still batting at 5. Plus he hardly bowls these days.

SL are a great example of why we now need 2 divisions of test cricket with promotion, relegation etc.

Eg:

Australia, South Africa, England, India, Pakistan and New Zealand.

And:

Sri Lanka, WIs, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan.
