It's a tough choice for PSL teams isn't it. They want to pick the best players, the big-match players, the stars, but as we have seen with Quetta, many of these players don't want to go to Pakistan and therefore that devalues the later stages of the PSL, as we saw in last year's final.

So what should the franchises do?

Do a cost / benefit analysis. If they're ok with a drop off and feel confident in their backup players, why not.

Shifting PSL to Pakistan would filter out these players and solve a lot of other problems.

The PSL is already quite poor in terms of international stars, at what point do you just want a more glamorous Faysal Bank T20 tournament?

Players like Duminy,Miller,Du Plessis,Badree,Sammy,Amla,Tamim and Ronchi are willing to play in Pakistan, along with other lower-tier foreign players.I think most players would be willing if given a higher paycheck.Colin Ingram and Tymal Mills have also said they will play if KK make it to the finals

I think the caliber of international players is already so-so... what they should do is shift to Pakistan, and take on whatever players are willing to come. Meanwhile, make the league interesting and intriguing, and maybe offer a bit of more money for contracts to bring them in to Pakistan. Stop begging, thank you.

With every successful PSL tournament, there are few new faces that are ready to travel. I think we should be patient and keep on working on top players trying to convince them to visit. If we have few succesful tours this year, with PSL play offs being played in Pakistan we might get more teams and players next year.

In next two or three years time if security keeps on improving hopefully we should be able to hold PSL in Pakistan with majority of good players willing to comeover.

I personally think pulling the switch out this quick might kill the league and vibe of it.

Let franchises earn their cash the best way they can.

Nope, strictly players willing to tour pakistan should be selected. And all other players should be out of consideration. You shouldn't be able to just come and play when you want, and leave when you're needed the most. You need a team that is use to playing with each other going into the final.

They should simply not select English and Australian players. They dont want to tour Pakistan even if its a safe place. Im not making a hate remark or racist remark, its just the sad reality. Dubai, Sharjah suits them because at the end of the day it is still a decent Holiday

because we have to remember that more players can go KP and Shane watson route, that we will play but wont go to Pak.... then what... last year final was such a farce.... so basically if a players thinks security is a concern just dont draft them (unless the club wants to take that risk, then they shouldnt wine about it later on)... QG in no way should moan about KP and SW not going, coz they knew it well in advance, but if QG goes into final without international players, it will be a farce again... if they win without the international players (why even have them in the first place)...

If it was not for players like Pietersen and Watson, QG would not even make it to the Pakistan stage of the tournament.

If those players are not selected, then all games will become farce. These foreign players add value to PSL. They should be allowed to play as long as they can.

It's quite a tricky situation, the PSL in the UAE needs all the best available players but then the teams are hindered if players can't commit to playing in Pakistan. No one wants to see a watered down version in the final stages.

Final is 1 game. For that you can't deprive the fans of seeing international stars for 9 games. One needs to respect the players' choice to go to Pakistan or not considering the past.

that 1 game is worth more then the other 10-11 games altogether...

Remember, semi-finals are also taking place in Pakistan this year.

Yes. There will be more PSL games in Pakistan in coming years. If players don't wanna come, don't sign them. There are still a decent number of big name players that will come to Pakistan, if the security keeps improving like it is currently.

Id rather have all PSL in matches in Pakistan with Zimbabwe and west indie players or anyone willing to come then half of these overseas leaving half way

I'd rather have 10 games with stars and 1 final without stars than 11 games without stars

And what happens when 11 games shift to Pakistan?

Don’t forget it’s PSL Not DSL

And whole purpose of it was to bring back cricket to Pakistan

exactly, but no no goreyaan nu please karo... pakoray khawavo... it was the same when Pak players were left out of IPL and there were talks that oh ipl will suffer without us... well did it... its just a phase, a stand we need to take, and will over come it... only problem is that there will not be any booze, girls, after parties as IPL provides, and nor the level of money.... thats the main hurdle i think....

The process to be in the final is as much fun

okay let me draw some parallels to see if we still get masochistic answers....

World cup is going on, Pakistan is doing wonderful, all of a sudden for the final, the game is shifted to India. India and Pak make it to the final.... and we still know Pakistan can easily beat India with their playing 11... however, on the evening prior, there is a presser in which Pak team manager informs us that Amir, Babar, Fakhar and Hassan say they will not travel to India at any cost and have been replaced by ahmed shehzad, saad nasim, rana naveed ul hassan and anwar ali.

Now will you still jump up with joy saying "oh well atleast we made it to the final...".... give me a break... if you are a fan of the team, you dont want non-committed players, if you are neutral or LQ fans, only then it makes sense to say yeah sure whatever...

That is so lame an excuse. Karachi Kings owners are total buffoons for coughing up their cash just to have him play for 2 matches.

Players should still be selected, but their should be an ongoing process to try and convince them to come to Pakistan

We can’t just reject players if they don’t travel to Pakistan because that will hurt the UAE leg of the PSL

They should still select those. We've seen how pathetic the crowds in UAE have been even with the big names like KP. If we have mediocre alternatives how will that look? If they don't want to go to Pakistan it's their choice, but they should really be convinced.

I'd rather players were honest like KP has been, instead of the nonsense excuse from Eoin Morgan. Does Morgan think people are stupid to believe him saying he is tired.

Teams should do whatever they think is best for them, whatever helps them win the tournament. The problem is if you don't have quality foreigners then it's very difficult to qualify for the play-offs. And if you do qualify by relying on the foreigners and they refuse to go to Pakistan then it's very very difficult to win the tournament, like what happened to Quetta last year. So teams should try to get foreigners that are good enough to get the job done and are willing to travel to Pakistan, like it was the case with zalmis last year.

I respect the foreigners decisions but if the Karachi team management didn't know this before then shame on Morgan. But if they did know then they're idiots selecting him for 2 games.

Absolutely. Foreign players imo are tertiary compared to playing in Pakistan.

AB de Villiers is rumored to be only playing 7 games in PSL4.

Do you still agree that he should not be selected?

'Rumored' and those rumors aren't so strong yet.

I wouldn't pick him if he plays the rest of the tournament but skips the Pakistan leg.

The chances of de Villiers playing in Pakistan are zero.

Considering the likes of Faf, Miller, Amla and Morkel have already once traveled to Pakistan for a series; I wouldn't put it past AB to come for a couple of matches.

He is a huge IPL superstar and can get a massive contract from any league in the world. I don’t see any reason why he would put his enormous earning potential at risk just to please Pakistani fans.

For a top player, the reward of playing in Pakistan is insignificant compared to the risk, which is why most of them are not willing to tour Pakistan.

One of his justifications for retiring from international cricket early was to spend more time with his family, and I don’t see his family encouraging him to play in Pakistan.

Of course I do hope that he plays in Pakistan, but it will be an absolute miracle.

Having foreign players is not as important as holding it in Pakistan imo. The people want to see their players live in action and it doesn't matter if there are only a few foreign players. After a couple of seasons, you can get them I suppose.
