Should Shan Masood be given a chance against Bangladesh?

I know there are no quick fixes for the shambolic display over the course of the tournament so far, but what do you think about Shan Masood being given a go in the next game? I was always against his selection in tests because his First Class record is pathetic, but you can't really ignore his consistency in List As, his average is ridiculous. He could turn out to be another domestic bully like Khurram Manzoor or Uncle Ifti, but I don't see any harm in giving him a look in. Not like our openers are firing at the moment...

I'd rather keep Zaman over Shan. Shan looks really poor and the Bangladesh game is a must win for us. Maybe Fakhar can get going against them and get some confidence back.

I'd definitely keep Fakhar, shame about Imam being a guaranteed selection. I don't mind him, but he's just not a modern day opener. I still find it hard to believe that we can't manage to churn out an opener with the same power-hitting ability as Sharjeel. A Fakhar-Sharjeel opening pair would've been beautiful.

Yes and score 60 ball ton he shouldn’t have been on squad hafeez should have been playing and would have given some wickets

Why? Not like it would make any difference if he doesn't fire, our openers have been trash this tourney!

Have you seen him play? He is worse than a sunday league player he was only selected due to daddy and the fact he spoke good English. Plus our openers havent been the root cause of our issues. Nawaz and shadab today did not even resemble no 8 let alone genuine all rounders. Fakhar and Imam have been doing well for some time now dont need to ruin it by putting in a parchislip

Fakhar and Imam will play the next game and score heavily but then fail against India again..... just my prediction

It's fair to say "parchislip" regarding his test team selection, but you can't ignore his List A performances. I honestly haven't seen him bat in limited over cricket, but the stats don't lie. Like I said before, I'm not saying he'll fix anything, I'm suggesting that we should give him a go and see what he's about.

Fakhar's been doing great! Imam has too, but you can argue that he's only been performing against the weaker teams. He always seams to lose it against quality attacks, or bat at snails pace.

Imam had pretty good list a stats as well but from what we have seen in internationals imam is in a differnt league to shan, apart from his better english there is nothing he does better than imam (maybe running not sure)

Drop Fakhar to 4. Shan boy as opener

Great logic here Yep also lets put Amir as WK imam and shadab as fast bowler, babar and shaheen as spinner...

If so then has to be instead of Imam.

Pakistan has only 2 aggressive players in the team right now. Fakhar who's lost his aggressive game somewhere and the other is Asif who's a bit of a hit and miss.

Babar is already a spinner. Shaheen can temporary copy Afridi spinning style. He’s really quick.

Am hoping he plays instead of Imam, but don't see Imam going...

It's about time we give Shan a solid run for at least 5-6 matches to prove his worth.

Playing Imam and Shan would be the equivalent of Hafeez and Shehzad opening, though.

Imam has an average of 40 and a SR of 77

Shan has an average of 58 (currently the highest in the world for List A) and a SR of 81

How do you know he's in a different league if you haven't even seen Shan play ODIs? Stats are a mile apart, so I don't know how you're coming to this conclusion. Kind of like saying Babar Azam is a pathetic batsmen because he averages in the upper 20s in tests. Two entirely different formats.

An absolutely wasted selection. Should have had a specialist spinner.

Not fair to him. If he plays against Bangladesh, he will maximum only play the final (if we make it) before getting discarded again.

I would give him a full series before my judgement on him.

Yes he deserves a chance over Imam, won't do any worse than Imam. Shan is fit and tall, can clear the boundary at will.

yes our issue is out batting, really Sarfraz. When you drop 3-4 catches dont blame the bowlers.
