Nepal recently qualified for the 2024 T20 World Cup and are no pushovers when it comes to t20 cricket. So would be competitive if given the chance to play in the PSL.

If the PCB invites Nepal to take part in PSL 2024, this would be beneficial to all stakeholders involved:

1- PCB
PCB can earn more money by selling the rights to a Nepali broadcaster to showcase the matches in Nepal. This money would increase the central revenue pool which is divided among the PCB and franchises.

PCB can also renegotiate the broadcasting rights of the PSL in the Gulf States where there are a lot of Nepali expatriates working.

ICC's main aim is to develop cricket in associate countries. So by helping Nepal and showing the ICC that PCB also cares about the cause- PCB will come in the good books of the ICC and can use this leverage going forward especially when it comes to hosting the Champions Trophy in 2025.

2- The Six Franchises
The six franchises would benefit as the central revenue pool would increase and so would their share.
They are reluctant to add a seventh team because that would divide the central revenue pool even more BUT here Nepal wouldn't get anything from the central revenue pool apart from daily allowances, match fees and coverage of their travel and stay.

3- Nepali cricketers
As I have mentioned in point 2, the Nepali cricketers should only get paid daily allowances, match fees and the cost of their travel and stay would be covered.
However, more than a money making exercise, they would look at this opportunity to hone their skills against top cricketers and if they do well, would certainly be picked up by franchises in other leagues around the world for really good money.

4- Nepal Cricket Board
Nepal Cricket Board can renegotiate its deal with clothing sponsors as now their matches would generate more eye balls in Nepal and also worldwide. This money can be used to develop cricketing infrastructure in Nepal.

5- Pakistani Government
We would get a lot of tourists from Nepal where people are crazy about the game. This would certainly help our struggling economy.
Also would strengthen our relationship with a SAARC member and help in increasing our influence in the region.

So should the PCB invite Nepal for PSL 2024? Let's discuss

PSL is a franchise model, and its the franchise that decide who gets to play or not based on their demand, not PCB.

Nepal has no good cricketer. Only Sandeep is decent enough who can get a contract while the rest of nepali cricketers are mediocre

It's not about Nepali cricketers
But their national team

I think it will be a terrible move to add them to PSL.

No franchise league has ever added an international team before.

Ireland used to play county cricket
It wouldn't be a first

It would be beneficial for all stakeholders
So why not?

Ireland were far better than Nepal.

Nepal couldn't even beat Oman recently (during the T20 Asian qualifier).

It is better to invite Zimbabwe than an associate.

County Cricket is not franchise cricket.

Franchise model is different

It's actually a good idea our batsmen are pretty rubbish against quality bowlers it will give them an opportunity to smash the ball out of the park and score 100's in PSL, And then we can cheerlead the rizwans imams and babars on forums only till the coming worldcup t20 when the reality hits us hard.

PSL is business. Franchises decide who plays.

PSL is not there to look after Nepal cricket
Money decides who plays
If franchises can see its financially beneficial, they would never saw no

It will be a good learning platform for Nepal but I don't think that it will benefit the franchises or Pakistan cricket that much. Nepal has no stakes in world cricket, to be honest, if you want to invite a team then invite Ireland or Zimbabwe who are considered minnows but still, these teams do have some credible performances.

The cricket viewership in Nepal is massive- much more than it is in Ireland or Zimbabwe

When you would sell broadcasting rights to a broadcaster to showcase the matches in Nepal, it would fetch really good money
You can also renegotiate your broadcasting rights in the GCC market as a lot of Nepalis work and live there

You don't need to give that extra money to Nepal- distribute it among the six franchises. Just pay Nepal minimal match fee and cover their living expenses

Nepal would only be happy as they are participating and learning. Plus if they do well, individual players in the team can get recognition from other leagues

If Nepal wins the PSL, it might be time for Pakistan to consider recruiting some mountain goats as their new coaches—because clearly, Nepal would have climbed to new heights in cricket!
