With Sialkot officially joining the HBL PSL, the spotlight is now on what identity this new franchise should carry. The city is already famous worldwide as the hub of Pakistan’s sports goods industry and has a proud cricketing legacy, so the name must reflect both heritage and modern flair.

At the recent PSL auction in Islamabad, OZ Developers secured the Sialkot franchise with a record bid of Rs 1.85 billion, edging out i2c in a tense bidding war. That figure alone shows how much belief investors have in Sialkot’s potential to become a powerhouse in the league. It’s not just about cricket — it’s about giving the city’s people and fans a team they can truly call their own.

So here’s the big question for this thread: Should the team revive the iconic “Sialkot Stallions” name to honor its domestic dominance, or should we go for something fresh that captures the PSL’s modern vibe? This is more than branding — it’s about identity, pride, and how Sialkot will be represented on the biggest stage of Pakistan cricket.

Kingsmen Hyderabad sounds good

Sialkot Stallions is the only real name. But if they intend to pick Rizwan and that too as captain, then it’s a big dishonour and respect to the iconic brand.
 
Do something like Sialkot Shaandar or Sialkot shehenshah or similar...please dont use and english word descriptor, use something local...like peshawar zualmi - that was original or even lahore Qalandar is so good....being Indian - i wish indian IPL team names went local as well...Chennai Veerans would be so diamond fantastic!
 
You could do Hyderabadshahs. Shahs but badshahs when you combine...

Imo coolest franchise name was Lahore Badshahs who played in now defunct ICL.

Some IPL names are just silly - Rising Pune Super Giants is arguably the siliest ever.

I agree a local spin is usually best but Hawks and Stallion names have some nostalgia attached to them.

Kamil Khan one of the owners of Sialkot already owns a legend team. He is very well established in Australia where he operates in real estate and owns many high end Desi restaurants. He is Waqar Younis brother in law and has very close relationships with many Pakistani players. He was also appointed as a cultural ambassador by Cricket Australia and he has very close relationships with many past and present Australian players. If there is anyone who can contribute to a large influx of Australian cricketers in the PSL, it's this guy.

Both the new owners seem to have footing in US and Australia Cricket landscape where they can help PSL and Pakistan Cricket to grow further and make the league a global event.

The Stallions name has a legacy in Pakistan domestic cricket and therefore an inbuilt brand. It would be silly to go for anything other than Sialkot Stallions
 
Dont like when franchises use their company name as the team name. Should be a mascot simple.

Royal chargers Bangalore and now Kingsmen Hyderabad.

Karachi kings messed up by using a local mascot, so these guys have an opportunity to do so..

Sialkot Stallions is an obvious choice due to its history, anything else is just ruining a good branding of the team

If Kashmir ever gets a franchise, its name should Kashmir Lashkar, just to mess with the people on the other side. Thinking about the free pr and markrting from across the border.

But it was a good name for a sports team. None of those two names are marketable names IMO.
 
The owner has signaled that the name will be Sialkot Shaheens. B O R I N G. Besides the fact that the A team already use that moniker, it's such a generic name for a sports team in Pakistan. Just call it Sialkot Stallions and bring the old colors back.

Dont worry, the team is owned by a real estate company, so it will get resold after 2 or 3 seasons. They cant pay that annual fee every year

I have no problem with Stallions as their name but do not devalue the brand by making Rizwan captain.

That would be a travesty!

Not at all. Stallions is a PCB brand and so is the Sialkot franchise acquired by OZ. There is no reason why the PCB would object at anyone using their own brand in their own franchise league.
 
This will make it easier to distinguish between Stallions and Stallionz in terms of statistics.

Sialkot Sherdils would have been a better name rather than this gimmicky of Z , nevertheless doesn't matter. A franchise without a home ground in PSL has only one leg to stand on

I guess some people might think it's a minor thing but the 'z' really does ruin it, doesn't it? They did all the work, all they had to do was spell correctly.

But who knows, maybe one the owners skipped first-grade during their childhood.
 
Seems to be they wanted to be distinct from an older t20 team in terms of stats etc. But then keep the stallions name for the nostalgia and everyone would have hated on them if they picked something else most likely.

This seemed to have been their solution.

I would guess there are some trademark issues in play.
 
As per reports, "Kingsmen Hyderabad" most likely to be revealed as the name of PSL's newest Hyderabad-based franchise

The US-based FKS Group is reportedly naming the team "Kingsmen Hyderabad" to align with their existing Chicago Kingsmen brand, following their successful Rs 1.75 billion bid for the said team.
