To say I was a nervous wreck after yesterday's humiliating loss to India is an understatement!

In my workplace, I have alot of British born Indian colleagues who are cricket enthusiasts. There are only a few Pakistani women who dont follow cricket and then there is me

Prior to the match, there was alot of talk about what will happen at the game, who will win etc

I knew after we lost yesterday that it would be a tough day for me today at the work place

I decided that I will wake up early and go the work rather than walking in when the others were there but due to traffic delays I turned up to work slightly late.

When I arrived and walked past my colleagues, I could hear people giggling and whispering to each other.

Never felt so uncomfortable in my life!

I then sat on my desk and saw people smirking trying to avoid eye contact with me

Someone even kept ringing my desk phone and hanging up as soon as I answered. I could hear people laughing when this happened

THANKS ALOT PAKISTAN TEAM FOR HUMILIATING ME

How was things for others at work/school/college/university
or even at social gatherings?

Lol what a drama queen

Anyways in my office of 50+ people, 45 are white and only one other is a desi who is an ABCD Indian.

People don’t know what cricket is generally let alone know about a Pak-India match.

Also it’s a game. I don’t know which weird alternate universe you inhabit where this is going on. I can imagine people bantering at school but work?

Seems like you have some incredibly immature/childish colleagues

Silence you!

Stop calling someone a drama queen when you work with one ABCD indian and hence dont know anything. You obviously have no knowledge and are not fit to share your view in this matter

Atmosphere was fantastic. For one, indians were expecting victory, unlike when I walked into work after the CT17 final, indians were in tears and refused to talk. Two, passed on my congratulations but the indians who were looking to get a reaction did, told them straight up that a group WC win doesn't hold a candle to whooping india received in the CT17. Plus reminded them that Pakistan are still in the WC and offered chai.

Basically they are still hurt over CT17 and I played them like a cheap banjo!

Man up!

You could be a decent fiction author if you could make it less obvious.

You couldn't be more hurt if you tried

You think I'm going to hug indians and congratulate them? The, words are enough and those who asked for more, received with full honours.

Stage 1 is the most difficult, it will get better over time.
I praised you for the cool story. Chill.

Yeah, I am hurt due to the spiritless match. Yawn.

I dont believe you.

I think people were laughing at you too

There is nothing for the fans of the winning side to taunt about when fans of the losing side admit how terrible they are. That was the case for me at work other then a few slags from the Indian boys nothing happened. There is nothing for us Pak fans to argue about at the moment. Accepting defeat with dignity is the best thing we can do.

This is as fictional as the story in OP

So the OP is lying, I am lying, but the person who works with one ABCD cannot believe Pakistani and Indian fans banter at work.

The question should be, which alternate universe do you live in? :)))

LOL in what world does the OP live. I only have a couple of Indian uncles at my work and they do not follow cricket.

Lol, why so serious? Let them share their views even though they seem a bit strange.

There’s been a huge proliferation of Indians posing as Pakistanis on PP in the last few months

Was watching it at the cathedral gardens fan zone Manchester. Few fights kicked off ( nothing physical) but she end the Indians and Pakistanis danced it off

LOL, that's a little much. Nothing here. Not many Indians at work, but quite a few Indian friends. Even on my local cricket team, I am one of two PAkistanis, rest are Indians. They had more reactions after the whole Abhinandan episode rather than this. It's just a game at the end, we are all adults. Maybe, if were kids or teenagers it would be a different story.

Chill out, dude; you did nothing to be embarrassed about it was just a cricket match, and your team lost no biggie. I got a few Indian colleagues one of them bothered to asked me about the game I told him I like how Kohli played and I think Aamir is doing good.

Be confident there is nothing to be embarrassed or shy about.

My work place is full of grown ups. Anyways, why is defeat against India embarrassing? They did even worse against WI and lost like 2 dozen matches in row before the World cup. I think almost everyone expected them to lose most of the matches (at least the people I know) and they lived up to the expectations.

Cool story bruh, thanks for sharing

The only person i would believe is Nostalgic even if its a negative one, i had no such issues here but hardly anyone discusses cricket.

I work with a lot of Indians and to be honest, nothing much. Basically "saw the game? Haha" and I said "Hah, yeah what a disaster" and just some talk about what happens next in the world cup etc.

I mean, we're all working professionals not youtube comment authors. So sorry to disappoint if you all thought it would be some aggressive action.

Also, I work in the U.S. Hate to stereotype but British Asians seem pretty aggressive...

We indians are naturally intimidating and macho people, explains why other people feel insecure/jealous in our presence.

No brown people at my workplace and brown people assume i don't like cricket lol. I actually didn't even watch the game.

Almost got into a fight with an Indian at the gym. I was doing lat pulldowns on the cable machine and he took the lat pulldown cable machine opposite mine and I think he went 10 lb heavier than me with that stupid subtle smirk on his face like they usually do with googly eyes. We were eye to eye, so after my last rep I went 20 lb heavier. I knew this guy was trying to one up me riding on that Indian win momentum but I had that post match ghussa. I did my part to uphold my country’s reputation.

I had to drink water after so left but then he just disappeared. Probably to do knee push ups.

If this story is true, how did he know you were Pakistani?

Lol it's all good banters. Just keep it to light jokes. I joke about it with Indian mates often, but generally Pakistanis don't feel as bad I have noticed. When India loses, they hide around and take it way too seriously. It's just a game and we should treat it as such.

When India will lose to Pakistan in the semi-final then you can do the same to avenge :sarf

Funny to read some of these well scripted stories. This is just a game and importantly fan fron either side had nothing to do with the outcome of the game or the performance of the players. You guys are just basking in someone’s success.

I think OP had this scripted from the start of the match itself. In the match thread, even before the start of the match, he posted that his cousin at the ground told him Indian fans were abusing him. After the match ended, he posted Indians were laughing at him. Basically he was just afraid of his team and wanted to channel that to corner the the Indian fans. Jeez, it is a game after all.

And we have another guy here too (Maybe his alter-ego) who bashed his Indian counterparts at work and made a banjo out of them, meanwhile downplaying Indian win by comparing to CT 17 loss. Choti choti Khusiyan.

These guys are such a comic relief!
