No rest for the wicked it seems!

For a long time we were killing ourselves wondering how we will fix ourselves in ODIs etc and just as we got to the pinnacle of our performances in that format, our Test side takes a dive :(

Seems like Pak fans have an anxious few years coming up in Tests.

Unfortunately no amount of PSL etc will help us in Tests so really unless some players drastically improve themselves, I see more pain.

Time will tell if the ODI team is fixed. We managed to catch a few teams on their bad days in the CT, but ODI series are a different story. Our current ODI team will still lose majority of series against the top teams.

Too early to tell whether our ODI team is fixed, we need more consistent performances and we need better hitting at the death and more batsmen to come to the party and finish games off.

You might find the ODI is far from fixed and the CT is a flash in the pan.
7th in both ODIs and tests it remains to be seen if the recent win in the CT can be continued.

Pak better win the ODI's and T20's against Lankans. Otherwise, this place will explode :))

I just hope the confidence and momentum we gained from the CT hasn’t been lost by this test series :(

The series coming up takes renewed importancr for me now.
If we lose it will feel like the ct was a flash in the pan.
We need to win 4-1 for the feel good factor to remain from the CT.
For this to happen we need to pick the right batting order
I think we will be ok as sarf is good at marshalling the troops in odi and he has the bowling resources to help in the field.
Queetion for me is how we get haris in the team?

Since when has our odi team been fixed? Lets see how we do in bilateral odi series over next few years and not get carried away over CT win.

I don't think our ODIs issues are fixed. I have a bad vibe that we may lose ODI's against SL. What we did in CT17 shows that youngsters have potential to play big games. At this point I am not convinced that our ODI team is great.

Exactly!! After winning the CT everyone thinks we're the best in the world now. Lest we forget we were ranked 8th and are still below the top 5 in rankings. It will take a few series to conclude about any improvement whatsoever. Although the squad is promising, time is still needed.

Both Aamir and Babar are far better LOs cricketers than tests. Then, you have guys like Fakhar, Malik, Imad, Shadab, and Hassan. The ODI team has far more potential than the current test team.

1. Fakhar
2. Hafeez
3. Babar
4. Haris
5. Sarfraz
6. Malik
7. Imad
8. Shadab
9. Aamir/Rumman
10. Hassan
11. Junaid

Just because we won the CT it does not mean we are good enough. We still needs lots of area to work on. Our main ODI bowler is injured, Babar out of form and Azhar is rested. Our batting still one dimensional, no power hitter baring Fakhar and bowling is just average. Sri Lanka is favorite to win ODI series by 4-1.

Rofl PAkistan is at No.6 in ICC ODI ranking just above Bangladesh and West Indies, how can you call it fixed?

Whilst I think our ODI team has potential and did well in the CT. We need to now be more consistent in bilateral and move on certain players before we can say that we are sorted in ODIs.

Not really. Our ODI team is far from being "fixed". We will still lose almost every series play away and the odd series at home. Pakistan does however bring its A game in tournaments usually. Considering we made the QF even in the WC '15, I'm not going to look to much into our ODI side as far as things getting "fixed" are concerned.

And truth be told, having problems in Tests was inevitable. With Ajmal, Hafeez, Misbah and Younis gone; problems were around the corner anyway. I expect things to get better eventually.

When you have two openers who average slightly above your best first class players average combined in fawad alam. And he still doesnt get selected then yes you will have problems.
Fawad alam should be in the team simple as

ODIs are the premier format so its better if we excel in the format that really matters.

Catch teams that were undefeated ( England ) and were favorites ( SA and India ) before and throughout the tournament. Give it a rest.
