Over the years we have witnessed lots of cricket games getting no result or no game at all because of the rain. Is it worth looking into this issue? should we have some kind of covered roof where game can be carry on even if its raining? I believe ICC should test the theory with playing cricket on covered grounds.. discuss...:angelo

It would cost a bomb to cover entire ground, countries like SL, Zim, WI will not be able to do that citing cost.

Moreover aesthetically something will be lost playing in closed arenas. I never liked WTFinals in tennis for the same reason.

Sameway, the best drainage system is in countries like eng/aus and not SL, Zim,WI. Something needs to be done to prevent the game from rain.. this is 2017 if we can come up with measuring bat speed hawkeye, snicko then why not this? In terms of cost well everything have a cost..

I think for test matches if rain played major role in deciding the outcome of the match( no result) then they should not deduct the points from a team. Last year, Bangladesh benefitted immensely from washout games against India and South Africa. Team should not be penalised for rain affected games. Secondly, boards should avoid planning games during wet season.

Its not possible to cover the whole ground around the globe and if you covered it then you limit the role of weather.

It would cost a lot and may be time consuming too, but retractable roof stadiums may be the only way to counter the weather.

Cover the pitch, until the the roof is closed.

The biggest problem in cricket that I have notice is that with all the technology available, we are still reluctant to use it.

Weather updates have predicted that there was 90% rain yesterday and 99% rain today in Colombo. Yesterday's day got wasted. Now today when the game starts, it will still be a 50 overs game. While If they decided to play a 25 over game or a shorten game from right now a result is still possible.

Why cant cricket be more contingent to whats happening and adjust the playing conditions accordingly? It seems as if the playing conditions are too stringent and change can only be possible during the aftermath of the event.

They can't change match times due to agreements with broadcasters. Venues also cannot be changed last minute due to logistical complications (you need to move equipment, a large number of people, find hotels for them etc).

There should be investment in retractable roofs over stadiums.

In world cups there should be atleast one stadium in the hosting country which has a roof over it. 3-4 open reserve days should be kept between the group stage and the knockout stage to replay any washed out matches in this indoor stadium.

Every country needs to have at least one stadium with a roof. The fact that we are in 2023 and matches are unable to reach a conclusion due to rain is pathetic. I can’t think of another sport where this happens.

Major stadiums should have the option for retractable roof to use in cases of rain. It’s indefensible that important matches continue to be cancelled due to preventable reasons.

You're expecting too much from the administrators.

These guys threw common sense out the window and hosted a tournament in the middle of a monsoon season. :ibutt
