Tight bowling backed up by some very good fielding from SA is keeping the NZers in check, although it must be said that NZ are sucing the life out of the game and those neutrals watching by their style of batting.

Theyre going at 3.80 an over only

They are currently on 111/3 after 29 0vers

South Africa won the toss and decided to field

A steady (& unspectacular) start by NZ so far.

135-3 of 34 overs

Kiwis have sort of stuttered along here. 166/4 after 40.

I guess they'll be looking at around 235.

I wonder why did the Kiwis leave out Patel? A pretty mind boggling decision if you ask me.

245 will be quite a good score on the pitch...ball doesnt seem to be coming onto the bat and it is turning also

I know it's a boggling decision. Although in cricinfo, at the beginning of the match it said: "...We wanted to play two spinners but when we lost a quality allrounder in Oram it became difficult. "

Hmm If Saffies lose his, they will be out. Right?

Yes. Which will be very very interesting.

Ross Taylor is the only Kiwi batsman of class produced in the last five years.

Taylor is gone

They'll fold for 220.

Anyone else noticed that Wayne Parnell has been getting pumped for the last two games? He's gone for 140 runs in 17 overs so far in this tourney.

Parnell gets a 5-for

But with 8 wickets so far that's an average of 17.5. I'd take that as a captain.

Congrats to Wayne Parnell for the 5fer! Again expensive in this match, like the last match. But brings SA those wickets.

Fair point; he's like an ODI version of Danny Boy

:akhtar

Saffers need to win with a RR of around 6 to keep their net RR positive.

Is Makhaya injured?

Makhaya would be cannon fodder on this pitch, his pace and nip is seriously down and he doesnt even possess a slower ball. Parnell might be over rated but he picked up a 5fer! I removed him from my fantasy team yesterday....ah well.

Parnell has a tendency to go for runs but picks up wickets, 8 wickets in 2 matches so far in the tournament.

Neither was Mcgrath, but we all know that pace isn't everything :)

Comparing Ntini to Mcgrath is a bit silly dont you think. Makhaya has done well in spurts but the reason he tends to get a fair tonk at times is due to his lack of variation.

Am I the only one in thinking that a 45 minute break is excessively long in between innings??

I mean ODIs is struggling as a format to survive in any case, the last thing they need is making the neutral viewer lose interest through such a stupidly long break, surely 25 - 30 minutes should be enough!

That annoying IPL music they have when nothin is happening is annoying!

I prefered the 'Yahoooooooooooooooooooooo' during the T20

One of the rare international cricketers to don a mustash!

ABCDE 53(60)
South Africa 189/5 (37.0 ov) - need 26 runs to win

Powerplay not taken yet

i think there is a huge chance for africa to throw to semis bcoz there next match is against england who is already under pressure......
