Sammy misses out and is replaced by Rawl Lewis

And South Africa drop Gibbs in place of Neil McKenzie

West Indies won the toss and decdied to bat first.

Currently in a spot of bother at 192/5 with Chanderpaul and Ramdin at the crease

237/7 with 7 overs left for the day. Steyn dismissed Ramdin for 21 and Lewis for a golden duck. No luck with the hattrick tho. Game is not too exciting. Chanderpaul still in on 62. I doubt WI will go past 275.

Make that 237/8. Taylor c/b Steyn for 8. I think I must good luck for the Proteas. Now the game is wakening up ...

As I have always said ...cricket is a game of psychology ...

West Indies have been playing with nothing to lose , while South Africa are looking to the bigger picture....beating India , then England and finally Australia ..and seeing this as a big humuliation . 5 days of cricket in a row West Indies have been on top for this reason alone....looks like things are just starting to go sane again..

borings days cricket....probably a little in south africa's favour on a flat wicket...

That's it for the day ... 240/8. I think SA had the upperhand. Chanderpaul grafted hard for his 64*. He is running out of partners.

It will be interesting how SAF bats tomorrow.

S.A just like in home series v india seemed to have started slow but have bounced back at start of 2nd test. Chanderpaul will need to hog most of strike and some how score another 50 runs for the team. Then the W.I bowlers need to bowl like they did in 1st test of they are in trouble.

Windies fighting back now with SA on 123 for 4

Tea!

Game nicely balanced with SA at 125/4!

I think Edwards got injured after bowling 5 overs and hasn't bowled a single ball since but thankfully for the WI they are playing 5 bowlers.

Bravo strikes again 131/5 and game very much on!

I did not follow quite closely this series, hence a question. why Pollock not playing this match? is he unfit or dropped?

Appears to be a gripping contest. I haven't seen the pitch but it certainly seems to be assisting the bowlers. If so it reaffirms my view that South Africa produce the best pitches for test match cricket.

I think you will find South Africa have pitches that are designed to assist on their strength which is fast bowling. I am beginning to wonder know which test match playing country produces the most competitive pitches??

It certainly is not Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka or for that matter West Indies.

He was dropped for when the Kiwis toured as well; he's out of their plans right now, not injured.

He looks pretty innocuous but produces the goods time and again!

153/5, Lewis is finally being given a bowl.

I see.. thanks... my personal view is, he has still something to offer for SA cricket. moreover he has turned as a decent batsman too.

This Rawl Lewis has an average of 388(and rising). Thats more then 7 times worse then Sami. Amazing how far WI have fallen.

South Africa 289/8 - lead 46 runs

Prince 90*

Ideally WI should bat for another day and a bit. That would give WI just over a day to go at SAF with maybe a 250 run lead.

59/0 after 26 overs.

Ramdin, who opened the batting, is on 32 off 77 balls.

Ganga, is playing sedately as usual, is on 15 off 77 balls.

59/1

As I type, Ramdin goes. Caught behind by Boucher, Kallis strikes.

I guess I'm a curse. As soon as I start watching, another wicket falls.

Morton gone for 1, caught behind off Steyn.

ps- anyone know whats wrong with Gayle?

Ganga gone for a patient 22 off 112 balls, bowled Ntini.

Snuck through the pad, via inside edge and crashed into middle stump. Its 81/3.

Ah, West Indies, West Indies

93/4

Samuels gone LBW to Nel for 18.

Big runs needed from Chanders and Gayle otherwise its an easy win for S.A

In such conditions a lead over 50 is always huge in context of such games.

West Indies 243 & 161/6 v South Africa 321

West Indies lead by 83 runs

chanderpaul last man standing again on 33*

W.I 181/8

Chanderpaul 41* edwards 10*

Maybe last wicket unless gayle comes out to bat again.

lead is 103.

Edwards gone after a good cameo 192/9

lead 114

is gayle going to bat now...?

gayle back and smacks 1st ball for 4.

lead up to 122

Lead up to 125...

50 more and it would be an intresting last inns...

Gayle force wind coming thru 4,4,6

nel getting smashed all over place!

lead is 143!

another 10 overs of this would be great! :)

50 for chanderpaul well batted as per usual!

ntini bowling miles wide outside off-stick ball after ball..

boring!

pulled away single for chanders.

lead 146

chanderpaul steers one down to vacant 3rd man for 4

lead 150!

2 more pushed into legside.

Chanderpaul playing a gem of an inns here..

slower ball by steyn beats gayle, boucher and goes for 4 byes!

lead 166 now...

how long untill tea?

35 mins. it should be 5 mins but because its last pair they will either play extra 30 mins or take tea when last wicket falls.

woah! gayle smacks a short ball from steyn and its gone out of the ground!

huge six!

next ball goes even further! another six!

go gayle!

Gayle gone pitched up ball and caught down the ground!

S.A need 185 runs to win test and level the series.

South Africa have just cruised it they only require 18 more runs
