I think people are so worried about how teams can be stopped on flat pitches. I think the way to stop the non Asian team on flat pitches is by bowling spin during the middle overs. Batters are expecting pace on the ball so taking the pace off the ball will take them off guard. We did see examples of England having some issues against average spinners like Malik and Hafeez so imagine the top spinners.

I hope Pakistan attack the non Asian teams on flat pitches in middle overs with spin. Obviously if the pitch favours seam bowling, we will need to change our tactics but if the pitches go how we think my opinion of stopping the batsmen is this.

Agreed, also expect the pitches to get slower, drier and more tired as we progress in what is going to be a tournament! - thus become more receptive to spin bowling.

Not convinced with Shadab though.

We have Hafeez and Shoaib taking care of matters:salute. Shadab will take wickets for fun:wahab2

Agreed , spinners will be important but on a flatdeck ,likes of butler n bairstow would murder those overs, i ll take fast n accurate bowling over spinners anyday on flatdecks like ones we saw in last few matches

Actually Spin Will win you games in this world cup. We really don't have a proper World class spinner with us and we are solely relying on Shadab to do wonders in every game.

We are counting on Hafeez, Malik, Harris big time which is a sign of worry.

Thanks Micky:jk

I feel relying on Imad as a second spinner is going to prove costly in this World Cup. Too one dimensional and at this stage too many teams already know what he's going to do. Just look at what Jason Roy did to him in the One Day Series.

This is why India have an edge as they possess two fantastic spinners in Kuldeep and Chahal.

Spin is important in ODIs period ! However our management is stuck in 90s pace is pace yaar hence we picked phaast Hasnain and Wahab instesd of a specialist spinner.

The biggest philosophy change with spin bowling with Pakistan I am seeing is that we have completely abandoned using spinners as attacking options, ever since ajmal and rehman left the scene. Now we use them purely as containing options. And that is where I think our problems are coming from.

Pace is pace yaar only applies when we are discussing the value of genuine pacers versus the medium pace trundlers like Junaid, or other almost-but-not-quite-fast bowlers.

Spin, and by that I mean genuine spin, not the part time all rounder darts our guys are going to be delivering, is crucial. Very surprised we didn't think to bring one finger spinner in the party, especially as Shadab isn't really a proper legspinner.

Mickeys lack of understanding of how to use spinners inmho..he is terrible at it..

If Mickey and Inzi ever wake up from their deep sleep, Zafar Gohar is probably still in UK playing club cricket. :faf
