This is the squad of Pakistan A listed on cricinfo..

Abdur Rehman, Azhar Ali, Fahad Iqbal*, Faisal Athar, Khalid Latif, Khurram Manzoor, Mohammad Talha, Naved Arif, Nayyer Abbas, Sarfraz Ahmed†, Sheharyar Ghani, Umar Akmal, Umar Amin, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah

So is Umar Akmal joining up with the A team again?! Or is this just a mistake..

Anyway best of lucks to the Pakistan A team..hopefully they can do better then there first test performance..looking forward to a few of the youngsters doing well..

Ghani gets dropped for bhanja II :jm ofcourse he was the only one who failed last game.

We're batting first and are 43-1. Amin is the man dismissed.

1) Umar Amin
2) Khurram Manzoor
3) Ahmed Shehzad
4) Azhar Ali
5) Bhanja Senior (C)
6) Bhanja Junior
7) Sarfraz Ahmed (WK)
8) Wahab Riaz
9) Abdur Rehman
10) Mohammad Talha
11) Fahad Masood

Much quicker updates today: 61/1 after 15

Shehzad has hurried along to 26 (20)

Amin has been dissapointing he did score 153 but apart from that he has really struggled he is still young hopeully a season or two will mature him he's a really good talent.

Shehzad has his 50, even time a for a couple sixes in there for him.

Shehzad is seriously good.

Test cricket has been made for him, and him only.

Shezad should be looked at as a test opener.

Nice knock from Shehzad but I think he is still one year away from the team.

we have crucial winter tours to new zealand and australia,we cant travel down under without regular openers, the cupboard is bare when it comes to accomplished openers and ahmed shehzad needs to be groomed, pakistan should partner shehzad and alam together against the aussies at least

pak 181 for 3
Ahmed shehzad made quick 96.
manzoor 35
Azhar ali is on 20 of 74 balls.

Great partnership from the bhanja bros ..Captain Leading from the front with an aggressive knock

Thats y shehzad need one more year to be groomed properly how ever he can be groom while playing for Pak though.

so if you get out in the 90's then you are not groomed.

Shehzad did well ... two fifties in the series so far ... so close to a 100 ... I think Umar Amin needs a big score in the second innings i think he needs to build on that 150 odd in the first game .. dissapointed Ghani isn't playing but its gonna be more interesting to see what they do in the odi's what with the CT sqaud yet to be finalised

i think shehzad should be thrown into the team right away and persisted with for atleast 3-4 series .But we know its not gonna happen as old school of selectors just cant back the youngsters and would still carry on with misbah's and yousaf's .and those already tried and tested like Imran Nazir.
Any layman can tell u that imran nazir is only T-20 material.

is fahad iqbal really faisal iqbals brother ? ... just saw a pic of him on the pcb website and he looks nothing like his "brother"

Miandad batting coach bhanjas doing well. Stand back Fawad and Umer you are just pretenders the real talunts are just coming.

Cant believe they drop Ghani. **** *** *************

i'm dissapointed too ... but i do think its perhaps slightly more important for him to do well in the odi's to atleast have a chance to make the odi squad for the CT so atleast he has his foot in the door

I'm sure there are many people out there in the domestic circuit pretending to be bhanja's brother

I was really disappointed when I heard Shezad was dropped from SL serie based of t20 WC performance. He was one of the top performers in Pak vs Aus serie and still he got dropped. I really want Shezad to open both in test and odis. Shezad is ideally made for test cricket.

Good to see Shehzad scoring in good health , good knock from him :14: . Will definitely get picked for the upcoming tours , Mark my words ;-) .

seems like he played really well, shehzad needs to be in the test XI for sure

Azhar Ali is turning out to be "The Wall" for us . Good , we need a guy who can get us through a draw.

Thats fair enough but i'd like to see some runs from him aswell ...

Good to see Ahmed Shehzad coming back strong. This kid is going to be the solution to our opening conundrum in ODIs and Tests. People have really judged him harshly based on the T20 WC.

Agree with you totally . He is definitely the best Opening prospect we got these days .

Spot on!

got run out otherwise he is getting to 50-60 would be an ideal opener in a team like Pakistan which is full of strokeplayers.

What a commentary thread this is....the score is only mentioned 2 or 3 times in the whole thread!

Latest from Colombo ... We've lost 2 early wickets this morning. Both Iqbals not able to add much to their score yesterday

Pak is 6/309 with Sarfraz Ahmed and Fahad Masood the two new batsmen at the crease.

equivalent to how many times cricindia updates our scores.. ;-)

Poor finish by Pak A batting order. Only added a further 48 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Sri Lanka A are 0/13 at Lunch.

I thought Ahmed Shehzad wasn't bad at all in the T20? What did he do wrong again?

Pakistan A has picked up 3 wickets now for 120, hopefully they can dismiss them for under 250.

123/5

Good comeback from Pakistan. SL were cruising at 78/0 but this the land of collapses it seems.

Mohammad Talha takes wickets but he is too expensive for my liking. It seems he bowls a "hit me were ever you want"-ball in every over.

Wahab Riaz continues his brilliant form from Australia A series 2-26 so far and very economical

They seem to be a good pair. Wahab Riaz creating pressure, Talha acting as strike bowler with lbw and bowled's

Another wicket for Wahab Riaz. SL 155/6.

Talha is way too expensive ... he's got a few morew tours ahead him before he plays for Pakistan ... Wahab is doing really well in this game ... 4 for 163 in the first test ... not so good ... but 3-32 here ... so far so good

and now the Rain comes to SLs rescue.

Juggernaut said:
the score hasn't changed ... is it still raining?

At stumps SL are 155/6. Bad start from Pakistan, but a very good comeback to take 6 wickets. Pakistan's day on our independece day.

Sri Lanka A 155 for 6 (Thirimanne 51, Riaz 3-32) trail Pakistan A 294 for 4 (Faisal 83, Vidanapathirana 3-43) by 184 runs
Scorecard
The bowlers had their say on a rain-hit second day at the Premadasa Stadium as Pakistan A regained control by reducing Sri Lanka A to 155 for 6. The Sri Lankans were on top early on when they inflicted a collapse to bowl out Pakistan for 342, but their batsmen lost the plot after a sound start.

Pakistan failed to consolidate their strong overnight position of 293 for 4 when they lost their well-set pair of Faisal Iqbal and Fahad Iqbal in quick succession. Chaminda Vidanapathirana, the right-arm seamer, was the pick of the bowlers as he sent back Faisal, Sarfraz Ahmed and Fahad Masood. Like Ahmed Shehzad a day earlier, the captain Faisal too was unlucky to miss out on a century. Vidanapathirana finished with 3 for 43 in 20 overs.

The home side were on the upswing when their openers began strongly with a stand of 79. Abdur Rehman broke the stand when he sent back Malinda Warnapura caught and bowled for 37, before Mohammad Talha sent back the other opener, Lahiru Thirimanne, shortly after reaching his half-century. An incisive spell by Wahab Riaz helped Pakistan claw back as the home side lost three wickets for as many runs. There was no recovery to speak of before rain brought an early end to the proceedings.

So a good bowling performance by Pakistan A then to get back into the game there. Wahab Riaz continues his impressive form, mohammed talha also chipped in with 2 wickets however he went for a whole 74 runs (which is basically half of Sri Lanka A's total so far!) at 4.35 runs an over.

It seems to be his problem...leaking runs...

Wahab Riaz definitely deserves a chance in the CT. He's really been performing well over the past few months.

yeah but not on the basis of test cricket ... he did well in the odi's against Aus A ... he not only picked up wickets but at a good average aswell ... I'm hopeful he'll show the same consistency against Sri Lanka A in the odi's ... if he does then he should have a great chance of being selected for the CT

Asif
aamir

talha gets a fifer great performance was a touch expensive but good figures 5/79

good bowling performance a real chance now for pakistan A to gather a SERIES win .

Mohammad Talha 20.4 2 79 5 3.82 (6nb, 2w)

Wahab Riaz 16 4 52 4 3.25 (6nb, 1w)

How strong is this SL team A compare to the A team played against Pakistan? Note this is second A team, there was a parallel match going on against NZ.

four test players are playing by no means a second string A side
1) warnapura
2) welegedra
3) jehan mubarak
4) chamara silva
and in pakistan four test players also :D
1) talha
2) khurram manzoor
3) faisal iqbal
4) abdurrehman

very even stevens as far as strength is concerned

This is their primary A team the other team playing England is just some Development XI full of half decent young craps.

stupid decision by Bhanja, Wahab and Talha deserved a break after such sustained hostality.

I think this may be the right decision. They are on roll now. Didn't they just bowled only 7-8 overs this morning? Keep the pressure on and go for a kill.

i think it is the right decision had pakistan A batted match would easily have gone towards the draw and i think over cast conditions are gonna help the fast bowlers we havent got any great spinner to trigger a collapse in the fourth innings

SPOT ON WAS BHANJA THERE!!!!! :jm

Fahad masood strikes
srilanka A 12/1

HDRL Thirimanne c Azhar Ali b Fahad Masood 5 22 1 0 22.72

I m not sure if I want to cheer for Bhanja. If he wins and scores a century in the series, we may see him joining CT team. He's crap.
