Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2021

Imrul Kayes, who last played an ODI in 2018, and Mahmudullah Riyad took part in the training sessions along with the other group members at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday. The group started training after Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 23-member preliminary squad on Saturday for the three-match ODI home series against Sri Lanka this month.

The selectors have named Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, both currently playing in IPL, in the squad although it is not clear whether they will join the camp on time. The series is likely to start on May 23. The IPL's league stage also concludes on May 23, with the final on May 30.

The preliminary squad will train till May 9; after which they will get a seven-day break for the Eid festival. Most of the preliminary squad is made up of cricketers who played in Bangladesh's recent white-ball tour of New Zealand. The three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka is part of the ICC's Super League.

(SQUAD) Tamim Iqbal, Naim Sheikh, Imrul Kayes, Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Saif Uddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam and Shohidul Islam.

Interested to see the Sri Lankan squad as Thisara Perera was told Sri Lanka would be selecting younger players. So let's see what talent they have !

Sri Lanka's men's team is set to play three one-day internationals in Bangladesh this month.

Sri Lanka's men's team will depart for Bangladesh on 16 May for a three-match ODI series commencing 23 May in Dhaka.

The series presents both teams with the chance to move up the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League ladder.

Sri Lanka currently sit 12th on the standings with -2 points and can climb as high as ninth if they win the series 3-0, while Bangladesh could skyrocket to the top of the ladder with a series win.

The Tigers currently sit sixth but only trail top-placed England by 10 points. A 2-1 series win would lift them to 50 points, 10 more than England, Pakistan and Australia, who all have 40 points.

Sri Lanka will play an intra-squad practice match on 21 May before the series commences two days later.

1st ODI: 23 May at Dhaka
2nd ODI: 25 May at Dhaka
3rd ODI: 28 May at Dhaka

Another new captain lol. Dimuth Karunaratne wasn't a ODI player and was made captain probably just to stabilise things.

Let's see how Kusal Perera does. Kusal Mendis as vice captain is interesting. He hasn't always been a regular and inconsistent. But now he is vice captain. Sri Lanka really do some bizarre things.

Kusal Perera will lead Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series in Bangladesh later this month after being named captain of an 18-member side on Wednesday (12 May).

Sri Lanka secured the two-match Test series 1-0 against Bangladesh earlier this month, and will now travel to Bangladesh, hoping to get off the mark in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League.

The ODI side has had quite a shake-up: While Kusal Perera is set to captain the side, Kusal Mendis was recalled and made vice-captain, and former captain Dimuth Karunaratne has been dropped. Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal were other veterans who failed to make the squad.

There were several other changes – fast-bowler Chamika Karunaratne and batsman Shiran Fernando earned their maiden limited-overs call-ups, while Binura Fernando and Asith Fernando also made the grade, with the selectors presumably keeping an eye on the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023.

Danushka Gunathilaka, Ashen Bandara and Wanindu Hasaranga all retained their place after impressive performances in the tour of the Caribbean in March.

Squad: Kusal Perera (c), Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Pathum Nissanka, Dasun Shanaka, Ashen Bandara, Wanindu Hasaranga, Isuru Udana, Akila Dananjaya, Niroshan Dickwella, Dushmantha Chameera, Ramesh Mendis, Asitha Fernando, Lakshan Sandakan, Chamika Karunaratne, Binura Fernando, Shiran Fernando.

ODIs are Bangladesh's best format so this won't be easy for Sri Lanka who lost fairly handily 3-0 away in the Caribbean. They used to be a gun ODI side with Jayasuriya, Sanga, Mahela, Murali, Vaas and co. but this looks the weakest squad in decades.

The only real interest I have is seeing Pathum Nissanka and whether Mickey can mould him like Babar, or whether he goes by the wayside like so many young Sri Lankan batsmen.

Former skipper Shakib Al Hasan returned to the fold while Najmul Hossain Shanto missed the bus as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday named a 15-man squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, starting May 23.

Bangladesh has announced the squad for the first two ODIs which will be played on Sunday (May 23) and May 25 respectively. Naim Sheikh, Taijul Islam, Shohidul Islam, and Aminul Islam Biplob have been named as the standby players by BCB.

"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announces the squad for the first and second ODIs against Sri Lanka," BCB said in an official statement.

Bangladesh Squad: Tamim Iqbal (capt), Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Mosaddek Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam.

The Kusal Perera-led Sri Lanka squad arrived in Dhaka for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh on Sunday. The squad has now completed the three-day quarantine and will begin practice on Friday.

The three-match series which is a part of the ODI Super League will conclude on May 28 and will be held within a bio-bubble stretching between the team hotel and Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

After the conclusion of the ODI series on May 28, the Sri Lankan team will depart on the following day. This will be Bangladesh's third ODI series within the ICC's World Cup qualifying campaign. They are currently in sixth place after defeating West Indies 3-0 at home in January.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh recently played a two-match Test series, which was won by the former. Sri Lanka had defeated Bangladesh by 209 runs in the second Test, while the first ended in a draw.

In ODI's at home Bangladesh are really a tough opponent, I expect them to win 2-1

Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal urged his team to give the maximum as they bid to maintain their home dominance against Sri Lanka in the one-day series starting on Sunday. Bangladesh have totted up a strong record at home, winning all but one of their 12 matches since October 2018, though all of the victories were struggling Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

However, they lost 3-0 to Sri Lanka the last time they met in a one-day series, in Colombo in 2019. "We have played with most of the Sri Lanka players. We know that they are a quality side," Tamim told a virtual press conference on Friday, ahead of the three-match series.

"We won't have anything easy, and we have to give more than 100 percent to win games against them."

Bangladesh have welcomed Shakib Al Hasan back after the all-rounder missed their previous series against New Zealand for the birth of his third child.

Shakib was also absent from the Test tour of Sri Lanka in April as he was playing in the lucrative Indian Premier League.

Tamim confirmed the all-rounder would bat in his favourite number three slot after Bangladesh jettisoned batsman Najmul Hossain.

Shakib starred at one-down in World Cup 2019, scoring 606 runs, the third-highest in the tournament after Rohit Sharma's 648 and David Warner's 647. He also took 11 wickets.

"Shakib will bat at number three. There will be expectations but we also have to remember what Shakib did at the World Cup -- scoring 600-plus runs in nine matches -- is not always possible," said Tamim.

"I would love for him to bat like that every day but it is a very rare performance. If it doesn't happen, there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I won't panic in that case."

The remaining two matches are on May 25 and May 28, also at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh face-off in the opening ODI of a three-match series starting from 23 May at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Overview:

Bangladesh v Sri Lanka

23 May, 13:00 local

Sri Lanka have made some changes to their squad, Kusal Perera will lead the side in his first stint as ODI captain. Kusal Mendis has been recalled and made the vice-captain.

Lot of seniors players like Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, and Dinesh Chandimal are missing from the squad and the visitors have given a chance to a couple of new faces with a goal of creating a bench for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

For Bangladesh, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan makes a return. He will most likely replace Najmul Hossain Shanto, who has been dropped from the Bangladesh squad for the first two ODIs.

The squad also excludes Al Amin Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Rubel Hossain, and Nasum Ahmed, who were part of the New Zealand tour.

Both teams will be eyeing a series win to move up the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League table.

Remember the last time:

The last time both teams faced each other in an ODI series was when Bangladesh visited Sri Lanka shortly after the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. The series featured Lasith Malinga's last ODI for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka won the series comprehensively with a 3-0 whitewash over Bangladesh.

What they said:

Isuru Udana (Sri Lanka bowler): '"To be honest, Bangladesh has a few superstars in their team (and expected to be carrying the load of expectations) while we have a young side and we have nothing to lose. We are here to beat them, so we want to give our best to beat those guys, because in their home, they are very dangerous and we know that."

Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh captain): "We have played with most of the Sri Lanka players. We know that they are a quality side. We won't have anything easy, and we have to give more than 100 percent to win games against them."

The first ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh set to be played on May 23 will be going ahead as planned. Hours before the match, there was a scare as three members of the Sri Lanka contingent, two players and one coach returned with a positive Covid-19 test report. However, the second RT-PCR Covid report has revealed that two were false positives and now just one player has returned a positive test, hence the match would be going ahead, as per media reports.

News of the two false positive tests came just 90 minutes before the scheduled toss time for the first ODI, in Dhaka.

The three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is part of the World Cup Super League.

Sri Lanka men's team arrived in Dhaka on May 16, and then the side completed a three-day quarantine ahead of the ODI series against Bangladesh.

After the conclusion of the ODI series on May 28, the Sri Lankan team will depart on the following day. This will be Bangladesh's third ODI series within the ICC's World Cup qualifying campaign.

A superb bowling performance helps Bangladesh bowl Sri Lanka out for 224 and register a 33-run victory in the first ODI

Mushfiqur Rahim's 84 backed up a superb bowling performance helped Bangladesh register a 33-run win in the first ODI against Sri Lanka and go 1-0 up in the series.

The victory means now Bangladesh have 40 points in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League standings and have jumped to the fourth spot.

Despite a late assault led by Wanindu Hasaranga, the hosts held strong with a sensational bowling display by Mehidy Hasan (4/30) and Mustafizur Rehman (3/34) to bundle out the visitors out for 224 after putting up a par total of 257/6 on the back of Rahim’s majestic 84, and fifties by Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah.

Bangladesh opted to bat first but were rocked early in their innings with Dushmantha Chameera picking up the wicket of Liton Das for naught in his first over. Shakib Al Hasan, who was on a comeback, failed to capitalise on the start he conservatively created for himself and was dismissed for 15. The stability to the innings was brought by a 56-run partnership between Tamim and Rahim.

The duo upped the ante and scored at a healthy run rate of 5.17 after Bangladesh’s prudent powerplay score of 40/1. Sri Lanka then employed Dhananjaya de Silva who proved to be a kingpin in turning the game in their favour.

Dhananjaya dismissed the settled Tamim, who smashed his 51st ODI half-century and Mohammad Mithun for naught by trapping them leg-before on consecutive deliveries.

Mushfiqur countered the barrage from Sri Lanka by dissecting the gaps and consistent strike rotation. He brought up his half-century in 52 deliveries and went on to convert the score to a classy 87-ball 84 in partnership with Mahmudullah, who played a salient knock of 54 in 76 in a 109-run fifth-wicket stand.

The visitors pulled back with the wickets of Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah in the death overs with Dhananjaya bowling a golden spell of 3/45. Afif Hossain’s quick-fire 27* (22) propelled Bangladesh to a first-innings total of 257/6.

In response, Sri Lanka were confounded by a sublime display of spin bowling by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib.

The visitors stuttered late in the powerplay with the loss of Danushka Gunathilaka (21) and Pathum Nissanka (8) as they managed 49/2 on the scoreboard.

A third-wicket partnership of 41 between Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis indicated resilience but Mendis perished subsequently to Shakib. Sri Lanka imploded slipping from 82/2 to 102/6 in the span of 9.3 overs as the middle order dissipated.

Hasaranga then led the revolt. Alongwith Dasun Shanaka (14) he added 47 runs for the seventh-wicket in 40 deliveries. He then combined forces with Isuru Udana to add 62 runs.

Just as the partnership between the two looked to fuel the flame of victory, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur snared the wickets of Hasaranga (74) and Udana (21) respectively.

It did not take long after that for the hosts to wrap of the Sri Lankan innings for 224; registering a comprehensive 33-run victory.

How do Bangladeshi players and management bear with The BCB President Nazmul Hasan?

He made another headline during the first odi about shot selection of the players.

Says Liton should bat at 5 in ODIs. What is the point of board's president's involvement in composition of the team?

Not really watched Sri Lankan cricket in a while but looked at the scorecard for this game and noticed Udana was playing. This guy played the 2009 T20 world cup and he is still going?!?!?!

Sri Lanka seem to be doing a Pakistan and are letting average cricketers continue for far too long.

Sri Lanka sit at the bottom of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League table with zero wins in the four matches. The upcoming two ODIs present them with the opportunity to take the series and the scope to grab 20 points essential for their plain sailing to ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Overview:

Bangladesh v Sri Lanka, second ODI
Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
25 May, 13:00 local

In the first ODI, Bangladesh fought back hard to regain command over crucial match-turning moments in a game that ebbed and flowed. Despite the win, the hosts still have a few batting issues to contend with. They would want the batsmen to convert their starts into big scores -- three players managed to score a half-century each but fell short of the triple figure mark

Remember the last time:

Mushfiqur Rahim was the architect of Bangladesh’s win as he laid down the platform with a sublime 84 supported by fifties from Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah, taking them to a competitive total of 257/6.

Mehidy Hasan (4/30) and Mustafizur Rehman (3/34) provided the impetus with the ball to take a comprehensive win of 33 runs despite the resistance from Wanindu Hasaranga, who fought back with a 60-ball 74. Thereafter, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 224 in the 49th over.

What they said:

Kusal Perera (Sri Lanka captain): “Our batsmen must bat at least 30-35 overs, I was a bit disappointed with that. I thought we had a chance (when Hasaranga and Udana were batting), but they bowled well, we will look to come back and do well in the next game.”

Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh captain): “Losing is no fun. Finally, we won. I think we lost 10 games across all formats. Winning is happiness. The boys are really happy. We hope we can put on a better show next time.”

Teams:
Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera(w/c), Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva, Ashen Bandara, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Isuru Udana, Lakshan Sandakan, Dushmantha Chameera

Bangladesh defeat Sri Lanka by 103 runs via DLS method and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series

They have also topped the ICC Men’s ICC Super League table

Bangladesh clinched their first bilateral series against Sri Lanka with a 103-run win (DLS method) in the second ODI and topped the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League table.

Bangladesh's stunning victory has given them an unassailable 2-0 series lead and with 50 points, they are now No.1 in the Super League standings.

It was an all-round show by the team with Mushfiqur Rahim leading the batting charts with a magnificent 125 combined with an equally laudable bowling performance.

While rain played a spoilsport several times in the match, Bangladesh stuck to their plan as Sri Lanka unravelled in the second half of their innings. With one wicket to win, the rain came again to stall the match for nearly 45 minutes, thereby reducing the number of overs.

It, however, did not take long for the hosts to pick up the last wicket of Lakshan Sandakan and achieve a comfortable victory.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat but endured a dreadful start to the match, losing the two big wickets of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan to Dushmantha Chameera in the second over of the match.

At 15/2, Liton Das was joined in the middle by Mushfiqur as the duo attempted to revive Bangladesh's innings. The pair combined for 34 runs, ensuring they didn't lose another wicket before the first powerplay.

On his first delivery of the match, Sandakan provided the breakthrough for Sri Lanka, drawing Liton to cut the ball straight to the fielder at backward point. Sandakan added to Bangladesh's woes sending Mosaddek Hossain back to the pavilion for just 10 runs. The loss of wickets did not put a stop to Mushfiqur Rahim's knock as he went on to reach his second fifty of the series.

He found the support of Mahmudullah at the other end, contributing 41 runs to the solid partnership. The duo stitched together an 87-run stand for the fifth wicket laying the foundation for a big score. The threatening partnership came to an end when Mahmudullah fell to Sandakan following a brilliant piece of wicket-keeping from Kusal Perera.

The Sri Lankan bowlers took charge, Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan both departed without making much of an impact on the scoreboard.

Mohammad Saifuddin provided some resistance, his resilient knock enabled Rahim to achieve his eighth ODI century. His 115-ball ton aided in Bangladesh's recovery from the top-order collapse. Saifuddin was his own worst enemy after he was run out by Kusal Mendis. Shoriful Islam followed him back to the pavilion after perishing to Isuru Udana for a duck.

Bangladesh were eventually bundled out for 246.

Sri Lanka did not get off to a good start as Kusal Perera became Shoriful's maiden ODI wicket. Danushka Gunathilaka failed to capitalize on his slow start as his innings came to an end after Mustafizur Rahaman had him caught for a 46-ball 24.

Pathum Nissanka fell prey to Shakib just when he got himself into the innings. The visitors were dealt another blow after Mehidy Hasan trapped Kusal Mendis lbw. With Sri Lanka reeling at 89/4, Shakib added another wicket to his tally trapping Dhnanjaya de Silva plumb in front, shifting the momentum in favour of the hosts.

Sri Lanka stuttered towards the end leading to a lower-middle order collapse, Mehidy Hasan snared two wickets of Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga, followed by Mustafizur deceiving Ashen Bandara with a cutter.

With 121 required and 1 wicket in hand, rain came down for the second time, reducing the match to 40 overs; which Bangladesh eventually won by 103 runs via the DLS method.

With Bangladesh clinching the series with a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, Sri Lanka's primary aim is to avoid the cleansweep in the final ODI.

Overview

Bangladesh v Sri Lanka

28 May 2021; 1300 local, 0700 GMT

More importantly for Sri Lanka, the onus will be on the team to get their first points on board in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. They have so far played five matches, and have lost all of them.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, are in enviable form. Their victory in the second ODI pushed them to the top of the CWCSL table, and the hosts are primed to sweep Sri Lanka.

The hosts have rode on the good form of Mushfiqur Rahim, who rose into the top 15 in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Rankings for batsmen in the latest update on Wednesday. It was his knock of 125 off 127 deliveries that guided Bangladesh to a comfortable win in the second ODI, and he'll once again be key in the final match of the series.

But the primary concern for Sri Lanka will be countering Bangladesh's bowling attack – Mehidy Hasan, the off-spinner, has so far taken seven wickets in the series, and on Wednesday became the No.2-ranked bowler in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Rankings. Mustafizur Rahman, who also rose into the top 10, has been another threat, picking up six wickets in two matches.

Sri Lanka will be hoping for an improved performance with the bat – it'll be key to them securing their first CWCSL points.

Remember the last time

Mushfiqur Rahim smashed a magnificent ton and stitched together an important partnership with Mahmudullah to help Bangladesh post a competitive 246.

Bangladesh's bowlers then restricted Sri Lanka, with Mehidy Hasan and Mustafizur claiming three wickets each while Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets, propelling the hosts to a 103-run victory on the DLS method.

What they said

Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh captain): "We haven't played the perfect game yet. We haven't nailed the perfect performance yet. We had to step up our fielding, and the catches we didn't take ... those will change games. If we take those then I'll be a happy captain."

Kusal Perera (Sri Lanka captain): "It's very disappointing. Both matches, the middle order collapsed and lack of experience cost us. We need to have a serious talk. They have to (get) back and believe in their strength and play fearless cricket."

Teams:

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Tamim Iqbal(c), Mohammad Naim, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman

Sri Lanka registered their first win in ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League in their sixth attempt with a commanding 97-run victory, however, they lost the series to Bangladesh 2-1.

The visitors now have eight points in the CWC Super League standings; while Bangladesh still lead with 50 points.

After Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat, they posted a competitive total of 286/6 thanks to a masterful ton by Kusal Perera and a fifty by Dhananjaya de Silva. In response, Bangladesh stuttered in the chase as Dushmantha Chameera picked up his first ODI five-wicket haul that helped them bowl Bangladesh out for 189.

Sri Lanka got off to a dream start as captain Kusal Perera and Danushka Gunathilaka cruised past the 50-run mark in a mere 6.4 overs. They managed 77 runs in the powerplay and displayed counter-aggressive intent from the get-go.

The opening stand of 82 runs off 68 deliveries was brought to an end by Taskin Ahmed who snared two wickets in the 12th over; he first dismissed Gunathilaka for a 33-ball 39 followed by Pathum Nissanka for a duck and thus went past 50 ODI wickets.

Sri Lanka brought the innings back on track with successive fifty-plus partnerships. Perara paired with Kusal Mendis for a 69-run stand, which was broken by Taskin after Kusal Mendis (22) miscued one to mid-off.

Perera then continued his resistance and even had a reprieve when Mahmadullah dropped him on 99. He went on to score his sixth ODI ton that was studded with 11 fours and a six. His sensational knock of 120 came in 122 balls as Shoriful Islam dismissed him with Mahmadullah getting another shot at redemption, this time completing the catch.

Dhananjaya de Silva came through for Sri Lanka with an unbeaten 55* to help them reach a competitive total of 286/6 in their quota of 50 overs with Taskin returning a four-wicket haul.

In reply, the hosts found themselves in troubled waters with Chameera single-handedly demolishing Bangladesh's top-order with three wickets in the powerplay. They were reduced to 28/3 with Mohammad Naim, Shakib Al Hasan, and Tamim Iqbal back in the dressing room.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mossadek Hossain scripted a cautious 56-run stand in 83 balls. But off-spinner Ramesh Mendis picked the all-important wicket of Mushfiqur, who perished for a 54-ball 28.

Hossain went on to make a half-century but a heedless shot selection led to his fall soon after. Mahmudullah smashed 53 from 63 balls but with the tail up it was too little too late for Bangladesh.

They were bundled out for 189/10 in 42.3 overs, falling short by 97 runs. Despite the loss, Bangladesh had ensured a series win by winning the first two games of the three-match ODI series.

Tamim fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct

Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third ODI of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League series against Sri Lanka in Dhaka.

Tamim was found to have breached Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “use of an audible obscenity during an International Match.”

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Tamim, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident occurred in the 10th over of Bangladesh’s innings on Friday, when Tamim used inappropriate language after an unsuccessful review of his caught-behind dismissal.

Tamim admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by ICC Match Referee Neeyamur Rashid and there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and Tanvir Ahmed, third umpire Gazi Sohel and fourth official Masudur Rahman levelled the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
