The Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium has been a notoriously low-scoring venue. The average score here is 224 and there has been only one century in 23 matches. There's a bit of grass on the surface but there are bare patches as well. It might get slower and turn as the game progresses so batting first may be the way to go. The toss will take place in the next few minutes ...

Match starts in about 20 minutes.

Hi Momo, who is in your avtaar? Is it RD Burman?

India's tour of Sri Lanka enters its second phase today with the first of five one-day internationals in Dambulla. India are sporting their limited-overs look with a young team and energetic legs. They'll need to be sharp, though, for India have never beaten Sri Lanka at this venue and the threat of Mendis and Murali remains as strong as ever.

Muttiah Muralitharan has a bowling average of 13.34 and an economy rate of 3.28 runs per over at this ground, with 29 wickets from 12 ODIs. Sri Lanka have won each of the last five matches here when Murali has played.

The weather is hot and sunny so there are no problems on that front at the moment.

There may be some pre-match problems for India though. It hasn't been confirmed yet but Sehwag is unlikely to play. He turned his ankle during practice yesterday. If Sehwag doesn't play, Virat Kohli, who led India to victory at the under-19 World Cup, may make his ODI debut and partner Gautam Gambhir at the top.

What about A.R. Rahman ?

1. R.D.Burman
2. S.D.Burman 2. Shankar Jaikishan 2. Khursheed Anwar
3. A.R.Rehman
...

Sri Lanka: 1 Sanath Jayasuriya, 2 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 3 Mahela Jayawardene (capt), 4 Chamara Kapugedera, 5 Chamara Silva, 6 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 7 Chaminda Vaas, 8 Nuwan Kulasekara, 9 Thilan Thushara, 10 Ajantha Mendis, 11 Muttiah Muralitharan.

Sehwag isn't playing so Virat Kohli is making his ODI debut.

India: 1 Gautam Gambhir, 2 Virat Kohli, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt & wk), 6 Rohit Sharma, 7 Irfan Pathan, 8 Pragyan Ojha, 9 Harbhajan Singh, 10 Zaheer Khan, 11 Munaf Patel.

India wins the toss and batting.

Atual Wassan predicts 5-0 series win for India.

Yes he lifted some songs. But most of the time he just took his cue from songs and made a wonderful song out of it.

I still consider him the king of orchestration and composition.

I was JK.... RD was very very good. Kishor would have been Kishor without the classics RD composed for him!

You listen to Western music ?
I do, actually I did. Never found it particularly satisfying (some songs are great, but again they are few and far between).

I think English is a great language for expressing prose. When it comes to verse though, there's nothing like Urdu. So when it comes to poetry and music (which for the most part has words), it will be hard to beat the Indian subcontinent.

Then we have raags which ensure our music is enduring. Our part of the world is responsible for producing some of the greatest poetry and music ever (in my opinion).

And again, I am a bit of a singer myself. We produce songs which we can sing (even without orchestration) so they will always mean more to me than the western stuff.

Yes, the Kishore-RD combination was the most fatal combo ever.

India 6/1 in 4.5 overs ... pretty exciting match. So, lets stop talking about Kishor and RD. :p

yuvi needs to come in early & settle down before the spinners start bowling !

V Kohli lbw b Kulasekara 12 (22b 1x4 0x6) SR: 54.54

The pitch is lively which adds little bounce. Asif would have killed opposition in that pitch.

Well as expected the kids have failed, we will however give Ghambir a break he has had a decent tour so far....I hope to god Badri will play next game too much politics going on in the Indian team full of party poopers...

UV the last hope is still there though (after one easy catch dropped).

Gambhir's dismissal was strange. He missed it by half a foot atleast. They brought the keeper up and stopped him from walking out. Maybe that did the trick.

Is Mendis playing...finally get to watch him live!

Yes, Mendis is playing but Jayawardene decided not to give him the ball becuase only kids are playing for India.

LOL Yuvvi what the hell are you doing ??? Could have atleast played the first over off...Go Badriiii.....

LOL, I was saying all througout that Yuvraj will be a GONNER one spinners are introduced. Just look at him, 1st ball from Mendis he missed it, second ball a very close LBW shout, 3rd ball a SIX, 4th ball OUT !! :))

Hahaha, Sharma guiding the ball to thirdman with slip standing.

The YUVI lasts 4 balls :))) :))) from Mendis.

Mendis averages 10 runs per wicket in ODI cricket

Romali, the avatar has backfired. Yuvi scored 23 after getting one easy chance.

His ability against spin is just as much as Ganguly's ability against the short ball.

From now on whoever says Indians are the best players of spin needs to be force fed Rotten Mangoes.

pathan needs to do something with bat if he's not going to do anything with ball.

He probably needs to pick up that bat and hit Mendis and possibly Murali and possibly a few other SL players and make them unavailable for the rest of the series, and in the process get himself banned as well.

You'll be doing well to get 150 from here

Bowl well ? Dude, do you seriously have any expectations from the Indian bowlers ? Whenever I watch India play, I just keep my hope on the batting department and completely forget about the bowling. India bowls just because it's compulsory to do so in the game of cricket.

Dhoni surely is effective. But plays in the most ugly way possible.

I only say it because it is SRI LANKA barring Jayasuriya if we can get him early, good chance rest will fall like a pack of cards...

At the moment India are praying for anyone who can stay at the wicket for at least 10 overs. That would be a start.

yeah...he is playing Mendis as if he is trying to get rid of pigeons from his dhoti.

...but still very effective

Have you seen that shot of his which he smacked Anderson out of the park ? he looked like he was going to loft him straight over his head, then he did this twist of his arms but still effective went for 6 but you never expect a shot like that with the impression he initially gave...

hwo long can they stay at crease with freakin mendis on one end and murali on the other jeez

The fall from being the best players of spin, to hoping for anybody who can stay at wicket for 10 overs was quick!
