Last night, Shahbaz shareef threw a lavish dinner and iftar party to about 24 of his favorite journalists at the PM house.

In the IK rule, the journalists would occasionally get only a cup of tea during any and every press conference at the PM house.

More to come.

You know, when pti and its speaker decided to hold all mnas hostage. They had to eat iftari at the parliament. That iftari was also being paid by tax payer money.

Those acs runiing for 15 hours because of pti hold parliament hostage was from tax payers money.

Did you complain about the ayashia than? Did you complain about tax payers money than?

No you did not, becuaee at that time it suited you

No idea how both are comparable.

One is an expense for the parliamentarians

One is an expense to raise own profile.

This is getting silly now Major.

Either way.

Pm house is allocated a budget, parliamentary affairs are allocated a budget. Every institute of pakistan is allocated a budget. The excessive amount is added to next years budget.

The parliment that was kept opened for more than 14 hours that day wasnt required and it did cost the tax payer money.

If we are to complain about tax payer money for the journalist dinner than we should be complaining it in other places aswe.

Austerity measures are only used by parties when they feel like using them, its not consisstent.

IK cut PM expenditure by a huge amount. These crooks took a day to start looting. Btw how many camp offices for IK and how many SS?

Major has made a pledge to defend the corrupt till he goes to his grave. Tbh Bajwa needs to be charged with treason for siding with the PDM over IK.

This is a non-issue. Its standard procedure to feed guests and for a PM to entertain guests.

Imran took it to the other way by being excessively stingy and lacking basic etiquettes with guests and visitors. In our culture some basic mehman nawazi goes a long way. People would visit Imran and think he was mad at them because there was nothing offered. Imran's flunkys would have to hastily prepare food/tea and buy items from their own pockets from sheer embarrassment.

In fact, I know from second hand experience that Imran is known to disappear when a bill is to be paid.

In his second term he will realise that these small things can make a big impact, especially when you are trying to keep coalition partners on side.

Great that they look after the memaan but SS can surely pay from his own pocket to treat journalists that wants to write good things about him. Tax payers are poor, our elite are billionaires, but our tax payer money is used to make personal panjis

Brother, this austerity that was prmoted by imran was a good thing.

Alot of money gets wasted in giving food when that money could be saved up and used else where.

My issue is that his austerity was selective. Where were these rules during the 14 hour siege in parliament.

Such meausres should be taken but than you need to be consistent at it.

Saving money from one institutes budget while using exsessive amounts of another institute budget means nothing amd achieves nothing than

Thats an unfortunate reality of political life anywhere and not exclusive to SS and Pakistan.

It was a good thing but can come across the wrong way at times, he needed to be more savvy when to be austere and when to provide some basics.

The 14 hour siege you are mentioning is also a non-issue. That was democracy working itself out and we can't ration power depending on the opposition feeling their time is wasted.

Using this logic you can argue the long, dull, uninspiring and useless speeches by all 12 members of the new coalition were equally a waste of time.

mehman nawazi lol

In all fairness i think the journalists should be paying themselves, there networks earn huge amounts and should fund it.

This is true, however the country is broke. You can keep mehman nawazi to a cup of chai, and click biscuits. No need for lavish anything.

Or, pay from your own pocket - which in turn is also part of looted wealth from the people of the country.

Well he is going to award his journalists. They've been very supportive of PDM. Iftaari is a minor thing, the bigger rewards like money, plots, trips are ones that won't be reported.

It’s all well saying this living in comfort in Bonnie Scotland but Imran was setting an example , the money has to be spent on the people esp with you half the population poor.

A lavish dinner is another form of bribery . It’s not the only party they throw to buy out media .

People who used to abuse IK and PTI will now be reminded about the badniyat nature of the other parties.

This thread makes me puke because I am now reading many stories about the distress being faced by the poor people of Pakistan in hospitals because hospitals have now stopped accepting the Sehat Cards.

Hamid Mir says he was eaten this much food from the PM house after a very long time!

If my opinion is not valid based on where I am sitting them neither is yours.

The ordinary person will struggle to heat themselves in Pakistan, should we cut the heating and AC off from the PM premises?

People use rikshas and 120cc cycles - does that mean the PM should use these instead of travelling by road.

Focus on the big issue and not the trivialities.

My point wasnt where you are sitting, it was very easy to understand.

You do not entertain with LAVISH dinners when you're nation has millions in poverty. These clowns wanted to remove the previous government because of inflation but now are throwing money around as if its their personal earnings. Its taxpayers money, which is why Imran Khan didnt waste in such a way.

"basic mehman nawazi goes a long way"

Yes a long way into the stomachs of their media friends.
