So where are all those who said this will be a boring draw?

Test cricket once again shows its inherent charm for generations to come

Every session a mini match - every over a mini battle

Test Cricket Zindabad!

Wonderful match and not just because we won. Real ebb and flow to the match, SL had the better of first two days then Pakistan made a fantastic comeback.

Galle is a results orientated ground too. You got to have Test pitches that produce an outcome and not 5 wasted days. Compare it to phattas like the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo where teams rack up 600 and it ends in sleep inducing draws.

Congrats for the win. Very unexpected considering the first day

Whattay match. Absolutely loved watching it. Must admit missed out on the first three days but whatever i watched of
it was splendid. Best thing about test cricket is its climaxes and we saw one here where Pakistan bounced back from a nervy position to winning the match. Totally dominating the second half of the match. Congrats everyone!

Test cricket when played between two good sides, is always a treat to watch. There was a never a shadow of doubt regarding this.

Would ppl here have said the same thing If Sri Lanka had won this match I wonder

From me An emphatic Yes.

I have been watching Tests for 23 years. I got into a cricket because of Waqar and Wasim demolishing stumps in Test cricket.

Tests will always be the best, I have always said this. And I have witnessed some of Pakistan's most painful Test defeats.

Sorry to say its sad to see a lot of new generation cricket fans not having the patient or understanding of the test game.

I still watch ODIs and sure Pak are not a very good ODI side but it's still a lottery format at times like 20-20s.

well said

Congrats to Pakistan and all Pakistanis on PP. This is a great win. Coming back from 100 odd for 5 is phenomenal.

Lanka will be in even more deep trouble when Sanga also leaves.

Srlanka needs to embrace a few losses before some youngsters start to step in.

Congrats to Pakistani team and its fans great win and unexpected one at that!!!!

This is why test cricket is the best. I'm surprised Pakistan won, we actually played well for once lol.

The beauty about test cricket is that it goes both ways, it is unpredictable. It is also good for the fans to see the most of their players. There is just something about test cricket which makes it unique.

Please retract that statement sir. We've played well a few times in the past decade.

Regardless of the result - one has to appreciate the way this game keeps us interested.

PSS Colombo always produce sporting pitches. Sri Lanka can produce highways but thankfully this isn't one of them.

Its not rocket science - sporting pitches = better Test matches. Why can't cricketing boards see this instead of thinking they've just got to drag a Test out to 5 days with a flat deck, thus boring everyone to tears. More exciting Tests, even if they only last 4 days, will attract more ticket-payers and more TV audiences.

Because broadcaster and sponsors want 5 days. And sadly they think about money. However its short term.

For ODI lovers - this is equivalent of watching back to back ODIs where the result of one game spills over to the next :D

Bangladesh, Zimbabwe & West Indies are the most useless Test teams. If somehow ICC can take back their Test status, test matches and series will be more competitive and exciting.

Test cricket is at it's best when it's played with quality teams with aggressive and imaginative captains on good sporting pitches.

No game can match the strategy, courage, skill, drama, suspense and excitement that Test cricket provides. The end of every session and day's play makes you wonder what will happen next.

If you want to study psychological warfare watch Test cricket.

Hold your horses for the moment, we're still not in a secure position to draw or win this Test yet, although obviously in a potentially strong situation.

This match is poised very nicely and any team can win it. If pakistan score 400 somehow, srilanka will have to bat brilliantly on the last day which wont be easy against yasir. Problem is that pakistan are one bowler short after wahab got injured and hence advantage is with srilanka.

Couldn't saw today's gameplay and wouldn't be able to see tomorrow's

Unexpectedly, even Shahzad has scored some runs, just like Hafeez in the first innings. :P

Good to see Azhar scoring some as well, failed in two innings so far.

Match becoming more exciting, hopefully we bat well tomorrow.

Still, would be tough to win this, since we have only one wicket taking option :yshah1 now after Wahab's injury, and we need him to take another fifer in second innings as well.

Tests can always get more interesting, but I can't get my self to watch every single ball.

Yea completely "unexpected", even though he has the second best average as an opener in Pak history, apparently thats not enough and requires bashing.

Nobody is forcing you to watch test matches involving those teams, you can keep enjoying 450 overs of drama, suspense and excitement and entertainment and fun and masti and dancing and thrill of any team you like while leaving others alone

He's just trying to say that the matches will be more competitive and not one sided which will attract more viewers rather then watching a team beat the other with innings to spare

Why do you think that I am talking about us winning etc?

I am just talking about the game in general

'Where the result of one game spills over to the next'. I think may have misconstrued it as being about Pakistan winning the previous Test and hence also this Test, if this isn't the case, then apologies.

LOVING it!

Game 55-45 in SL's favour right now but we got this, iA!

Test cricket Zindabad, indeed!

We suck at ODIs anyway. So I enjoy watching Pakistan play Test cricket more now.

Is it just me or has Pakistan's overall test side and especially the batting department developed into a very resilient unit? They just dont seem to stop coming back even after having their backs against the walls at many instances during a match.

It definitely helps when you have a guy like Sarfraz Ahmed with an average of 49.95 coming in at number 7..

In my opinion this new found resilience is primarily because of gutsy batsmen like Asad, Azhar and Sarfraz who carry a never say die attitude. If only we can find suitable openers we could be a formidable challenger to the number one test spot, and will be able to hold our own both home and away.

Credit to Waqar and co. for instilling in them that confidence.

Three Tests and three results ( in all probability)

I stress again

Test Cricket Zindabad.

One of the best series i have seen in recent times. First test, Pakistan wins it without the help of experienced YK and Misbah. Second test, Sri Lanka does it without Sanga. Third test, the one with the most twist and turns and its still unclear who is the obvious winner. Brilliant.

Great series..we have a nice little rivalry running with the lankans now..great stuff!! great pitches too rather than the puttas we can see nowadays at times!!

a truly underated series by for example cricinfo and co..

It's honestly a fantastic series to follow. I was livid with Ramiz on last of second test when he produced this gibberish
'this is what happens when two lowly teams play against each other, you never know what to expect'

And the rivalry is quite healthy . Not baying for blood like in an India Pakistan series.

Thrilling series this is, very balance, interesting, great show of batting and bowling.

This has been a thrilling series. Long live test cricket!

I will say it again... Test Cricket Zindabad

The modern day game is blessed to have this version of cricket - it may have been made more attractive due to the pressure from T20I/ODIs but 15 days of complete bliss as far as I concerned

Test cricket is a game valued by players and purists and followed on the Internet but bar in England and Australia, watched by no-one.

Most of Misbah's matches end up with result and barely a draw.

I am a modern day test cricket watcher (in the US). You get 5 days of cricket which you dont have to watch every second, but you can do other stuff while keeping an eye on TV, its really a win win situation. It is much more enjoyable than an ODI or a T 20 game with their phases of predictability.

Wonderful past time. Too bad most people in Pakistan do not enjoy it.

Tommorow there will be 3 tests going on simultaneously.Great day to watch cricket.

Yup. Love test cricket.

Have lost interest in ODIs since two new balls and 4 fielders.

All 3 tests have been nail biters, Both teams are evenly matched and we are still unsure of how England will come out tomorrow. I still am hoping for Pakistan to finish it in style though. To all those who said it was going to be an easy victory for Pakistan well ...I hope you folks have been entertained thoroughly . I know I have been.

Test Cricket Zindabad!

Here we go again

It has been extremely dull during the middle periods of this test to the point where you contemplate suicide but no doubt that the finishing stretch has been fantastic drama!

Pakistan always had this in control.

Their collapse created some drama but still 350 is too much on day 5.

Bravo was just......what a performance.

Great last 2 days but boring pitch overall.

Didn't you watch edgbaston test match , pak vs England?

Nah, personally enjoyed this match more.

Edgbaston match should have been a draw but for poor application from Pak batsmen on the final day.

The way Bravo batted was outstanding against a very good attack in their home.

Got up to check the score once again and remarkable last 2 days of the match both teams fought well and it was set up beautifully ,hope the Windies get some heart from this performance and take it further to next matches and show up!

Congrats to Pakistan, been part of exciting tests off late.

I agree, it should be called ... 'Best Cricket' instead test Cricket

Fairly exciting last two days. But how many people watched it? Less than a hundred in the ground. But how many on TV? What are tv ratings?
