The BBC Cricket Theme Music

Growing up in the UK, two bits of music have a special meaning for me.

The first is the Match of the Day football them which i will not discuss as it is a cricket site.

The second is the BBC Cricket theme. What a wonderful, magical bit of music! This reminds me of the days when cricket was on terrestrial TV and not just cable channels. It brings back memories of watching cricket when I was a kid. I have this as my ring tone

I use a VPN to watch English cricket on Sky, but before play starts I listen to the start of Test Match Special, to start the day with this music.

I say "start", but living in Australia TMS starts at 7.30 pm and play at 8 pm, and I go to bed at 12.40 am which is the Tea Break!

Nothing will ever come close to Mambo No.5:

People were flocking to the cricket as if it were footy during that 05 series and it's fitting that one of the greatest series ever aired on FTA ! I thoroughly enjoyed the Channel 4 coverage. Greatest era ever in England cricket history for me; that summer was so magical; with the game being mostly on sky cricket may never be looked upon in the same way in England

My first was always the ITV boxing music, that was incredible, and really got you in the mood for a knockout. BBC Cricket, Grandstand, BBC F1, BBC Snooker, BBC Wimbledon and MOTD followed. All were and are legendary in their own way.
