Misbah speaking about the Australia series:
"Australia series is never easy for an Asian team. The best thing for us is that our batting lineup is quite experienced, most of the players have scored runs here before like Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali. Shan Masood recently did well on bouncy pitches in SA"
"Our bowling has some youngsters with pace so hopefully we'll try to play well. When you have a team like this, you're ambitious and you expect good results"
"The most important thing here is that you're mentally upto it. New players like we have in the bowling dept. don't have any excess baggage, they're energetic like Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi who are bowling well"
"Babar Azam is in good form like was saw in T20s, Iftikhar Ahmed is playing well so the players are adjusting to the conditions"
"If we make a good number of runs, we have the resources to give Australia a tough time"
"Talent is always there in Pakistan, you have to channel is forward and link it with international cricket and that was missing for us. Now it's changing with the new system and we're trying to keep similar fitness standards and preparation levels at domestic cricket as are required for international cricket. I am in touch with coaches and we're trying to uplift these standards. We have struggled due to this gap in the past"
"When you're a senior player then responsibility on you increases. From the senior players, everyone always wants match-winning performances. Wahab and Amir are capable in white-ball cricket and for Pakistan it's important that they ready themselves to lead the attack with a World Cup coming up. Amir's bowling in the powerplay is important, then Wahab in middle-overs and then death bowling. Seniors have more responsibility to lead with performances and that's what we're looking for from them"
"We're trying to not discard any players quickly. We will have some time after the domestic season finishes, before the England tour begins so we'll try to evaluate our players for the T20 World Cup during that period. We will try to make a combination that can do well in the Asia Cup, World Cup and then the next World Cup as well, so we're trying to plan ahead. We'll need to know who are our #1 players and then we need to have backup as well"
"In Tests, our plus point is that the players specially the batsmen have played a lot of cricket and can do well in these conditions. Then our youth in the bowling, and Yasir Shah who toured Australia previously, this time he's come with better preparation and knows what he needs to do. I hope our preparation is better this time"
"You have to take 20 wickets to win a Test but to think about 20 wickets, you have to have runs on the board to be in the game. I think our batting lineup can do that"
"Keeping the morale high can be difficult when you've lost some matches. Winning is the best thing and losing is the worst thing. When you keep moving with settled things, you get settled results but when you want to improve some things or look towards the backup and prepare for the future then sometimes you have to make sacrifices. You have certain goals of achieving things in matches, you do want to win but at the same time you know you're preparing for the future. I think there's quite a few good things, we played some youngsters like Musa and Iftikhar performed well. Experience of being with the team for the likes of Usman Qadir can benefit Pakistan in future"
