Fact is that success breeds success.

PCB cannot hope to increase its revenue share, attract sponsors and advertisers and garner enough fan interest to guarantees its financial future if we continue to not win big trophies.

This is no longer a "lets experiment and see" or "this too shall pass" type situation.

If Ramiz Raja does not pay attention to this, then he will be sitting in the PM's office begging for money.

No amount of fancy Social Media stuff like this will help - fans/sponsors need results.

Absolutely, teams recently gave Pakistan some respect due to their success, take that and who wants to tour WI, Zimbabwe and add political instability to it. As usual we always learn the hard way, no one thinks long term.

Only chance Pakistan had win limited overs tournament forget about 50 overs world cup.

By the way will PCB send the team to India?

Pakistan is still number 4 after India, Australia, England in the ICC revenue sharing model and in terms of net worth inspite of playing mostly below par cricket for the last 10-15 years and almost 20 plus years of no international cricket in Pakistan and having to constantly host teams in the UAE which is no easy or cheap expense.

If the team actually started performing on a consistent basis in all formats and continuously hosted top tier foreign teams in Pakistan, you can only imagine the financial windfall the PCB would enjoy.

They had a great chance after the 2021 T20 WC result - public sympathy/interest was at an all-time high but they let it slip due to various factors such as home pitches, selections etc

Now the stage is such that fans wouldnt want to be spending money on merchandise etc

It seems that the PCB have all the bits and pieces in place (marketing, social media etc) - just missing one piece - performances by Pakistan!

I’m sorry but who wants to watch a team that chases 91 against Netherlands in 15 overs?

Do we deserve fans/support when we are playing this pathetic brand of cricket?

To many players in the Pak side are not international class. Nepotism rules the PCB.

No one wants to watch a team which chases 91 against nederlands in 14 overs. Not acceptable.

Last 30 runs came in 30 balls instead of 14 balls.

Why are we so emotional about performances in a country where historically the vast majority of Pakistani batsmen have not been successful?

We've had 203-0 this year, defeated India and had a bunch of other decent wins.

I never expected anything in Australia. Was i in the minority there?

India has also historically not been special in Australia but Kohli changed the mindset that India has to win in Australia to command respect. Pakistan needs to aim to create history in Australia at some point.

A lot of deadwood with players who would struggle in 1st class cricket in Eng/Ind/Aus. Their is nothing much on the sidelines either. Pakistan can continue to cherish occasional wins against Eng/SA/Aus but don't expect them to win consistently anytime soon. As for the money, don;t see many international sponsors or Pakistan expats lined up.

BTW still waiting to know who the generous donor with the Blank Check is/was who Rameez Raja had so emphatically mentioned during teh India-Pakistan game and how much was actually donated to PCB after India lost.

My issue is that Ramiz and Co have not connected the dots here.

This seems like hyperbole. Pakistan literally reached the semi's last year in the WC and almost won. Went to Asia Cup finals. Won a series in NZ after like a decade+ without winning one.

Pakistan struggling & performing horrible in Australia isn't exactly a surprise. Zimbabwe loss was for sure, but its been an unpredictable WC with even England losing to Ireland. At the end of the day, this team hasn't been getting its doors blown off like they're a minnow.

What happened to the blank check Raja must have received for defeating India last year? Check bounced?

Ramiz came in promising aggression & great things, and removing fear. "We need to change GPS of Pakistan cricket", he said in his first presser.

He has instead made it far more sheepish, far more timid, far more boring.

Our batting in Test Cricket, ODI cricket, T20 cricket all have become very boring, meek and selfish. Ramiz brought zero improvement in that, instead worsened them.

When someone questioned Ben Stokes about the aggressive style of play in tests, he said something like "We need to entertain as well, we need to engage audience." Ramiz has gone absolutely opposite.

Ramiz & Babar ordered absolute placid pitches for home tests against Australia, and aimed for 3 draws. They both, and Babar's BFF Imam, publicly defended lifeless pitches and absolutely timid batting (we went at SR of 2 batting in Pakistan when even historically Tests in Pakistan have had SR of 3-3.5).

Ramiz has further empowered a timid, selfish player Babar who was appointed by Misbah as captain without any foresight. Babar is basically the coach, the selector and the captain now.

Ramiz and Babar are both comfortable with yes-men as coaches. Remember Younus Khan was available as well, who is a hard-task maker, and professional coaches like Mickey are very strict on fitness/practice sessions, etc (sent Umar Akmal back home from a tour), but Babar and Ramiz preferred soft coaches already there at NCA who would not challenge anything.

Babar aggressively defended Hasan Ali despite his abysmal performances in WT20 2021. Before Semi-final he said "I cannot even think about dropping a player like Hasan Ali". Of course coach was not going to challenge the captain.

In T20s, our batting has been abysmal for a top team. Even Afghanistan, SriLanka, Ireland and Bangladesh show far more flair and intent than Pakistan does.

A win in the Semis and advance to Finals will have great effect on the marketability of Pakistan stars but imagine what happens if they win the World Cup?

A WC win will boost the value of Pakistan players for mercenary leagues hopefully they will cash in

Rauf SSA Naseem Hasnain all can play for any franchise

Absolutely , winning ICC trophies or staying in top ranking is badly needed for the health of Pakistan cricket .

If Pakistan team makes it to the final or wins it, PCB will be in a very strong position to negotiate with BCCI regarding its participation in Asia cup in Pakistan .

BCCI would never want to go ahead with WC in India without one of the most crowd puller team in the world , if Pakistan continue to earn that position.

The PCB has strongly denied a media report, aired by Samaa TV on Tuesday.

The PCB wishes to explain and clarify that the PCB earned a surplus in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 financial years, which can be established and substantiated by the Financial Statements that are available on the PCB corporate website.

As regards the loss of PKR835million in the 2020-21 financial year, the PCB reproduces below the statement from the audited Financial Statements, which has been endorsed by the auditors and is self-explanatory:

“During the year, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has compensated franchises on the account of Covid-19 relief for PSL 5 and PSL 6 amounting to PKR810million and PKR828million, respectively. Had there been no such additional payout to the franchisees for PSL 5 and PSL 6, PCB would have earned a surplus before tax amounting to PKR882million.”

It may recalled here that the PSL 5 had to be suspended after 30 league matches following Covid-19 outbreak and the remaining four matches were held in November 2020. Similarly, the PSL 6 had to be suspended after 14 matches, again following Covid-19 outbreak, with the remaining 20 matches taking place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Both the events resulted in incremental costs to the PCB.

Despite not being a firmly dominating outfit, Pakistan Cricket Team still generates a lot of excitement and interest in its followers. The USP of being unpredictable and mercurial is something most of the fans accept and even take pride in. So I don't think PCB needs to worry about interest from the public or sponsors.

Good to see some positives which will effect the earning power of the PCB and the players too!

It's a constant loop
Incompetant PCB leads to poor results on the field which leads to less revenue for PCB and so more incompetance.
Good to see us finally getting our act together on the field. Hopefully Mohsin Naqvi and PCB get their act together by improving domestic and grass roots cricket. If we fix this we fix everything. Big 3 still has the potential to become big 4.
