Is it only me or everyone knows that Wahab Riaz will return in all formats after Champions Trophy?

We have seen earlier (in England, etc) that Wahab Riaz does some blunder, then gets dropped, then again returns as a national hero. :wahab2

This time if Wahab Riaz returns, Pakistan will repeat its old mistake!
This has to stop

Same thing happens for Hafeez as well. Somehow they all manage to return.

But pace is pace yaar, even if he goes for 80 for the 5th time.

Wahab did well in 2011 World Cup against India. He is not moving the ball that well nowadays. His style of bowling suits Indian style batting. He may trouble aussies. NZ

We saw how he troubled them in the ODI series we played there. Also the WT20.

There is not much talent available to replace Wahab actually. This CT squad is the best that Ul Haq could accumulate, not much his fault.

He should not be brought back even if his replacements are smashed to all parts of the ground.

Bro, March 30, 2011 was 6 years back - when Wahab Riaz was around 30-31, now it's June 2017. By trait, he is a fast bowlers - a trait where Malcolm Marshall & Denis Lille retired from First Class cricket at 35 & from Club cricket by 38.

PS: Or, you have to believe that Wahab Riaz played his 1st FC match at 15, in 2001.

Karma ................

Pace do not win matches, wickets does. At what pace Wasim Akram used to bowl?

We love Shoaib Aktar not for his pace but for his abilities of taking wickets

>Usman Shinwari did well in PSL. Lets groom him for World Cup 2019.
>Mohammad Abbas won Test for us in WI. Lets groom him for ODIs.
>Junaid did well in Australia, particularly with new ball. Lets work on his consistency.
>Sohail Khan did well in England,PSL. Lets work on his fitness.
and counting...

There were better options. Much better

Your knowledge of cricket is superb. That explains why he hasn't improved at all.

Pakistan need to pick genuinely young bowlers and give them a chance to develop. Theres over 220 million people in Pakistan, there must surely be some talent worth persisting with.

Yes, because he is a genuine fast bowler and our obsession with fast bowling keeps him alive.

Apart from his atrocious recent form and that appalling performance against India, he's 31. I can't imagine him playing for long even if he miraculously starts playing well. Fast-bowling is a young man's craft better for Pakistan to focus on youngsters rather than bringing Wahab back again.

??? this is 2017, not 1970 :(

There is no talent beyond 7/8 names in PAK - they'll continue till 2023, walking ability permitting - Inzi can try to unleash few new faces every series, but it's the youngsters' job to keep their spot. For your information, this is exactly what PAK Captain said in his press conference -

"It was a big occasion and we had some youngsters playing so we missed a few chances because of that"

No talent - whoever young is called, will cost PAK in big matches.

End of story//

Will be waiting for his return! He will return much stronger much fitter.Haters gonna hate bit surely he will come back.Wahab "the beast" Riaz.Get well soon beast.

They'll wet their pants, before turning 30, in big occasions. Need to mature first in domestic style for 10 years (that's starting FC career at official 16).

You're correct. Just like every series Hafeez fails first two games and then is ''injured'' (after realising he will fail all series) and then weasels his way back into the team.

He is threatened for his spot & arm band.

This is what happens when you appoint an unfit WK, in his 30s Captain for a struggling side.

For struggling side/new teams - best people to lead the side is all-rounders, who can keep themselves out of pressure by contributing in multiple areas. One of the advantage of Mashrafee is that being bowler, he doesn't have a bad day - if he goes for a bashing, he'll simply fill out his overs with part-timers. Toughest job for struggling team is a batting captain, whose KPI is simple - score runs & lead the team. PCB appointed a WK, who is expected to bat at 6 as well, whose game doesn't suit his batting spot ............... and he is not the best tool in his core role - Wicket Keeping.

PCB will appoint Amir Captain one day - as a desperate last throw of the dice; which BCCI or BCB would have seen at least 5 years earlier. May be that day Amir will be 33 & he'll react the same way - scared & protective.

Inzi the corrupt selector has made things even difficult, His selections are extremely atrocious, Dropping Sami, Sohail and co while bringing guy like Azhar after dropping him. Selecting Asif Zakir from nowhere and then throwing him down.

What happens next is even more interesting, Wahab Riaz keeps his place no matter what, Mohammad Hafeez gets selected ahead of all despite being garbage in Australia and PSL, Aamir Yamin is not picked despite being the best all-rounder, Umar Akmal gets dropped for fitness issues and then comes back without performance and then gets sent back by management.

Firstly, i would like to congratulate the OP on stating the truth. He will definitely be the part of future Pakistan squad, as would Ahmed shehzad and Umar Akmal along with Umar Gul.

Not Inzi, system is corrupt, which will always favor whose who - people with 10/12 years of contacts. Hence PAK team is comfortably the oldest around - on top of that things become ugly when you see Iftekhar pulling the average age lower for his 25 years age certificate. Shouldn't personalize Ifti alone, because more or less 3 to 7 years is unanimous range for almost every one ................

I gave a classic example - despite having at least 10 times more options due to population size & better productivity, Sreyash Iyer would have replaced Kohli in the series decider, had IND opted for 6th batsman - in his 22nd year (ok, one can add couple more) & 23rd month of FC career. Replace it with PCB contest - Inzi would have called back Gambhir or Dhawan - if not Sehwag.

Our culture is very bad...

Wahab just gives throw downs

Pakistan should follow India
Identify 4-5 bowlers that have spark and take them foward
Sohail Khan
Ahmed bashir
Usman Khan Shenwari
Rumman Raees
Ehsan Adil
Sameen gul

Wahab used to have those yorkers but i dont know whats wrong with him now. He needs to work on his bowling or make place for better bowler.

azhar ali hafeez shehzad umar akmal and wahab riaz will return no. of times till each of their retirement... just becuase these are the players available from LRCA punjab...Pakistan should change their cricket team name to Lahore...
