Boxing legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr have weighed in ahead of their bout on Saturday night, which will see no judges, a no-knockout rule, and no official winner.

The eight-round exhibition match will take place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles as part of a three hour pay-per-view live broadcast, and sees both men back in the ring after extended periods of time away.

During the weigh in, Tyson, 54, tipped the scales at 220 pounds, while his opponent, Jones Jr, 51, came in at a lighter 210.

Despite facing a barrage of criticism since the announcement of the bout, it has reportedly drawn in record pre-fight sales.

Tyson, a former heavyweight champion of the world, last fought in 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride - raising eyebrows about his ability to get back in the ring - while Jones Jr, who once held seven belts simultaneously, was still fighting in 2018.

The fight itself will be solely for entertainment purposes. With judges (and fans) absent from the arena, it means the match will have a "no-knockout" rule and will not record an official winner.

However, the rule that the fighters cannot knock out their opponent does not seem to have got through to Tyson, who says he is "coming at" Jones Jr.

He told reporters in LA: "I'm pitching punches and everything else is up to Roy. I'm coming at him. He doesn't have to worry about me. If I'm running anywhere I'm running right at him.

"Maybe I don't know how to go easy. I don't know. I don't want to say the wrong thing. I don't want the commission mad at me."

It is not only Tyson and Jones Jr on the bill for the event, which is being run by social media platform Triller, with 23-year-old YouTube star Jake Paul taking on former NBA player Nate Robinson, 36.

The pair, as well as two others, will fight on the undercard in a six-round bout.

“see no judges, a no-knockout rule, and no official winner”.

What kind of joke is this?

It's not a fight / boxing match, it's an exhibition. There will be winner, it's just that it wont be official on the pro boxing record. Fighters are discouraged to knock each other out but a KO is still posible, however the ref may be more inclined to stop a fight the moment there is a knockdown, cut or anticipates further damage.

Ah right, I see.

Tyson looks in incredible shape for his age (well any age really).

Was seriously depressed seeing Tyson's physique and hanging love handles, i expected much lesser body fat around his stomach, abdoman area. His physique is nothing like it used to be in his 20's and 30's.

You can’t be serious..

I am surprised to see him back.

I am generally not much into boxing but I may watch this match.

He’s 54, you can’t expect him to look like he did in his 20s.

Jake Paul’s face needs to be busted in half.

Cannot wait for the dunk champ to rock him.

Just read that Tyson is getting paid at least $10 million for the fight and Jones $1 million.

https://www.si.com/boxing/2020/11/27/mike-tyson-roy-jones-fight

Back in 1997 Tyson and Holyfield were paid in excess of $30 million each to fight each other. If such a fight took place today you could probably multiply that by 10.

The biggest boxing payday in history went to Mayweather when he took home a cool $275 million vs Connor.

I enjoyed the exhibition, never took it seriously but it was great to watch. Am also glad that part of the proceeds will go to retired fighters who are struggling in the aftermath of their careers. Mike conditioning was better then RJJ's which was surprising seeing how inactive he has been, both showed signs of their old self at times and it was a fun event which was under regulated control. Am glad larger 12 oz gloves were used to limit the damage either man could take, for some history in the golden age of HW boxing 8 oz gloves were used compared to 10/12 oz today. Majority of Tysons sparring partners use to request he wear 18 oz gloves.

It’s not possible unless you take HGH’s or some other testosterone treatment.

Your body can only do so much.

It isnt fair to expect someone in his 50s to have the same physique as they had in their 20s or 30s. But its not entirely impossible to be in a better shape than what Mike is at his age. Looks at all the actors who are in their 50s and still have good physiques.

Here are the official highlights - Tyson looked in better shape than he did in his last few pro fights 15 years ago. Roy Jones looked a lot older than his 51 years - I suppose that’s what fighting 75 times over 30 years does to someone.

Oh and apparently Tyson was high on drugs when he fought lol.

Is canabis halal? :))

I didn't see the point in paying for a fight where they weren't allowed to punch each other in the head. Mike Tyson's whole career was built on it.

That said, I saw some highlights and was quite impressed by the shape the guys were in. Tyson in particular looked very sharp and quick on his feet. Really made me miss boxing from back then.

Actors and co. are more likely to take substances as they don't face any doping regulations.

Too much emphasis on how one looks in Boxing, you can look a million bucks but still be conditioned badly and lack in-ring activity, a solid engine / training camp and ring smarts are more important. People always made fun of how Tyson Fury looks and wrote of Foreman before he regained the lineal heavyweight crown. You can have an amazing physique / look like a body builder, doesn't mean you can fight neccesarily or that your look will help you / suit your fighting style. Mike Tyson was a freak of nature and he trained selectively to hone the peek a boo style to remain explosive against much bigger opponents

https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/mike-tyson-says-psychedelics-saved-his-life-now-he-hopes-they-can-change-world-2021-05-28/

During his reign as heavyweight champion of the world, no one was more feared than Mike Tyson, who obliterated opponents with ruthless efficiency.

But all the while, the troubled superstar was at war with himself, battling an abusive voice in his battered head that led "Iron Mike" to the brink of suicide.

He said that all changed when he began taking psilocybin mushrooms, more commonly known as "magic mushrooms," and other similar consciousness-altering substances.

Now the boxing prodigy from Brooklyn is experiencing a career renaissance that he said is the result of psilocybin-powered mental and spiritual exploration.

"Everyone thought I was crazy, I bit this guy's ear off," an upbeat Tyson told Reuters, referring to his infamous 1997 fight against Evander Holyfield.

"I did all this stuff, and once I got introduced to the shrooms ... my whole life changed."

To be sure, many people have had negative experiences with psilocybin, which can cause disturbing hallucinations, anxiety and panic. Medical professionals studying them warn against self-medicating or using them outside of an approved medical framework.

But Tyson, who turns 55 next month, and impressed in his November exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr, said he has never felt better.

"It's scary to even say that," said Tyson, who is also a cannabis entrepreneur and podcast host.

"To think where I was - almost suicidal - to this now. Isn't life a trip, man? It's amazing medicine, and people don't look at it from that perspective."

Humans have been ingesting psychedelics since the earliest days and as stigmas slowly dissolve, it is beginning to be taken seriously as a psychiatric medicine.

There is still much to learn.

Enter former NHL enforcer Daniel Carcillo, who was nicknamed "Car Bomb" for his violent approach to the sport.

After 164 fights, thousands of hits and at least seven concussions, the two-time Stanley Cup champion was forced to retire in 2015 due to repeated head trauma.

Like Tyson, he was at war with himself and struggling to connect with his wife and young children after his retirement at age 30.

He said psilocybin helped him bridge that gap and the experience led him to found Wesana Health, a first-of-its-kind company dedicated to studying its ability to treat traumatic brain injury (TBI) in athletes, veterans and others.

Wesana recently entered into a clinical research project with the World Boxing Council (WBC) to examine the potential of psilocybin to help boost the brain health of boxers, and Carcillo says he is proof that it works.

"I am cured, for sure, of TBI and any related symptoms. 100%," Carcillo said.

"I do not suffer from slurred speech, headaches, head pressure, insomnia, impulse control issues, anxiety, depression or suicidal ideation," he said.

"I do not suffer from any of that (anymore)."

Carcillo and his team are hopeful psilocybin will become an FDA-approved drug to treat TBI.

Tyson said he wants to spread word of the benefits of psilocybin as widely as possible, which is why he has partnered with Wesana.

"I believe this is good for the world," said Tyson, who said he thinks its use could also help create a more empathetic and just society.

"If you put 10 people in a room that don't like each other and give them some psychedelics, they'll be taking pictures with each other," he said.

"Put 10 people in a room who don't like each other and give them some liquor, and they'll be shooting everybody. That's real talk.

"(Wesana) was on the same level of thinking that I was. They wanted to share this with the world. This is very limited, us doing this in these small ceremonies.

"It needs to be open to the world."

Mike Tyson seemed to lose his cool on a plane on Wednesday night ... repeatedly punching a man in the face after the guy had apparently annoyed him.

TMZ Sports has learned ... the incident all went down at around 10:30 PM PT as Tyson was slated to fly out of San Francisco International Airport to Florida.

A witness on the plane says as he and his friend were boarding Tyson's flight ... the boxing legend was initially cool with them and the other passengers.

The witness tells us Mike took a selfie with him ... and then was patient with his overly excited buddy, who kept trying to talk to the 55-year-old fighter as he sat behind him.

Eventually, though, we're told Tyson had enough of the guy behind him talking in his ear ... and told him to chill. When the guy didn't, that's when the witness says Tyson started to throw several punches at the man's face.

Video we obtained shows Tyson throwing a flurry of blows at the man, which you can see bloodied the passenger's forehead. The witness says Mike walked off the plane just seconds later.

We're told the man who was punched received medical attention and then went to the police over the incident. We've reached out to cops for comment, but so far, no word back yet.

We've also reached out to JetBlue and Tyson's camp for comment on the incident as well, but no word back yet there either.

These kids are so stupid it’s insane, way too pampered. It also reminds me of that idiot who made fun of Wilder’s daughter and even worse, decided to have a boxing match with him lol

Did you see the footage on the plane? Mike was really laying into him. A little surprised the idiot wasnt hurt more. Also usually the crew/pilot call the police who arrive at the plane door to arrest. I guess the crew were more smarter & insted were looking out the windows for views.

I saw the footage it looked like he was going for it but I doubt he was loading up, if he was the guy would have died rofl there’s a possibility he may have annoyed the crew to, wouldn’t shock me and good on them to continue on. Why do people try to provoke the guy, he has come a long way and let him be. Mike’s a nice guy these days

Mike Tyson once described his time in prison as ‘the best three years of my life’.

The former undisputed heavyweight world champion is now 56 years of age and a very different character to the younger, wilder man in his youth.

As a youngster, Tyson spent a lot of time in juvenile detention centres, which ultimately led him to begin his boxing journey.

His introduction to the sport, and to trainer Cus D’Amato, had a drastic impact on his life and saw him avoid serious trouble with the law for a number of years.

In 1992 though, Tyson was convicted of the rape of Desiree Washington and sentenced to six years in prison.

He always insisted everything had taken place with Washington’s full consent and denied ever forcing himself on her.

Describing his time inside, Tyson explained on an episode of The Pivot podcast: “I’m just very grateful – I’m a cool guy, I’m a good person, I treated everybody nice.

“I had the best three years of my life in prison.”

Asked if he missed his financial fortune, Tyson replied: “I had peace though.

“That don’t mean nothing when you don’t have peace. Just sit there within your balance.

“You need your sanity to dictate any part of life.”

While behind bars, Tyson kept up an impressive training routine to prepare him for his return to the ring.

“I was doing running,” he revealed, “Doing eight or nine miles around.

“And at night time I would run for four hours, just in my room.

“I would jump and stuff, just jumping up.

“My cell has a concrete floor, right?

“I indented it with my feet into the concrete floor.

“I was 285lbs. I came out 215lbs.

During his three-year spell in prison, Tyson converted to Islam and worked on his character development.

Despite his rehabilitation, the celebrity status he had earned earlier on in his career remained and he was visited by musician Tupac Shakur while behind bars.

Tyson earned himself an early release in 1995 and returned to the ring with a quick knockout win over Peter McNeeley.

Asked how that win felt, he said: “Yeah, it was, ‘I’m back from prison motherf***ers, y’all didn’t break me. My ego was going crazy and stuff.

“Everybody was talking, ‘Mike is over, he’s in prison, nobody ever came back from prison and was the same guy.’

“I just wanted to change their minds.”

If MIKE TYSON is giving you a warning, then you should pay attention to it.

Tyson gives warning to Paul ahead of July fight

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, preparing for his first professional fight since 2005, warned YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on Monday that his life will be on the line during their July 20 bout.

The 57-year-old Tyson, speaking at New York City's Apollo Theater during a press conference to promote a fight against an opponent who is 30 years his junior, said he wants to show the world he is still a great fighter.

"I really like Jake a lot but once he's in that ring he has to fight like his life depends on it, because it will be," said Tyson.

The heavyweight bout at the Arlington, Texas home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys will be contested over eight two-minute rounds with each fighter using 14-ounce gloves. The outcome will be included in both fighters' professional boxing records.

Tyson, who said he requested the shorter rounds because he feels it will lead to greater action and a more entertaining fight, shot back at critics who suggested he is making a big mistake by returning to boxing.

"The people who said that wish they were up here," said Tyson. "Because no one else can do it. Who else can do this? Who else can shut the sporting world down, no one else can do it. So you got the both of us.

"We're friends, but in that ring we're not going to be friends."

Tyson also said he did not hesitate at the chance to fight Paul.

"It was a no-brainer," said Tyson.

"He was the new up and coming guy on the scene and I like shaking the sports world to it's core and I'm doing it now. It's just something I want to do."

Paul, a 27-year-old YouTube influencer-turned-boxer, has won nine of 10 boxing matches with six knockouts against a mix of celebrities and middling fighters.

He suffered his sole career boxing loss in February 2023 when he lost a split decision to Tommy Fury, the half brother of World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Paul said people should not overlook Tyson.

"Age doesn't matter, age is just a number. He's a killer, he's a warrior, he's been doing this his whole entire life. So it's second nature to him. I've been doing this for four years," Paul said.

Paul suggested he is being underestimated by Tyson and boasted that he has more power than the man once considered one of the most feared men in the world.

"I know it's going to be tough, I know I'm going to have to fight through adversity, I know I might even go to the canvas," said Paul.

"I'm scared, don't get me wrong, but it's not about the fear stopping me, it's about going into it even though I am scared and that's what true bravery is."

Tyson and Paul will participate in another press conference on Thursday in Arlington.

Mike Tyson 'doing great' after medical incident on flight

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson experienced a medical scare on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday, his representatives told the New York Post on Monday.

Tyson became "nauseous and dizzy" 30 minutes before landing due to an ulcer flare-up, they said.

"Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great," his representatives wrote in an email. "He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him," they added.

Paramedics boarded the aircraft after it landed to tend to Tyson, a source told In Touch Weekly.

Tyson, 57, is less than two months from returning to the boxing ring for a highly anticipated fight against YouTube star turned prizefighter Jake Paul on July 20. The event will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and be streamed live on Netflix.

Tyson's fight against Paul will be his first professional bout since a 2005 loss to Kevin McBride. Tyson, who turns 58 next month, fought Roy Jones Jr. to a draw in a 2020 exhibition match. Paul, 9-1 as a pro, is three decades younger than Tyson at 27.

Mike Tyson v Jake Paul bout postponed after former champion suffers health scare on flight

Mike Tyson has postponed his highly-anticipated boxing match with Jake Paul after falling ill on a flight last weekend.

The boxing veteran was scheduled to face ex-YouTuber Paul, 27, in the ring on 20 July in Arlington, Texas.

However, this has now been postponed after Tyson suffered ulcer problems while flying from Miami to Los Angeles last Sunday.

The fight's promoter said in a statement: "During a follow up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations."

The fight will be aired live on Netflix, in a first for the streaming service. The new date will be announced by Friday 7 June.

Tyson hasn't fought professionally since 2005, though he has continued to train regularly for several years.

Tyson-Paul bout rescheduled for 15 November in USA

The fight between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will now take place on 15 November in Texas after the original date had to be postponed.

Ireland's Katie Taylor, the undisputed women's light-welterweight world champion, will fight in the co-main event with a rematch against Puerto Rico's Amanda Serrano at NFL side Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The two bouts had been scheduled to take place on 20 July but Tyson, who will be 58 later this month, had to pull out because of medical advice after a recent ulcer flare up.

"Although we had to postpone the fight, I will resume training shortly. I am thankful to the medical staff that treated me," said Tyson. “While we have a new date, the result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out."

In a post on social media, Paul wrote: "New date, same place, same fate."

The Tyson-Paul contest, which will be broadcast on Netflix, has been officially sanctioned as a professional fight and will take place over 10 two-minute rounds.

Tyson has not fought professionally since 2005, but did compete in an exhibition bout in 2020.

In 1987 he became the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight titles but his reign as unified champion came to a shock end in 1990 as he was beaten by Buster Douglas in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Paul, 27, has won nine of his 10 fights, mostly against former UFC fighters, with his solitary defeat coming against British boxer Tommy Fury in February 2023.

Taylor defeated Serrano via split decision in an all-time lightweight classic in April 2022 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Two judges gave Taylor the victory, by 96-93 and 97-93 margins, while a third judge said Serrano had won 96-94.

The loss was only Serrano's second professional defeat and she has since won all four of her world featherweight title contests, but will step up in weight to face Taylor.

Speaking when the fight was originally announced, Taylor said: "This is the rematch the world has wanted to see.

"The first fight in New York was obviously an epic occasion and it more than lived up to the billing, and I'm sure the rematch will be no different."

Since beating Serrano, Taylor defeated Argentina's Karen Elizabeth Carabajal but then suffered the first and only loss of her professional career when England's Chantelle Cameron gained a majority points decision win in Dublin in May 2023.

The pair met in a rematch, again in Dublin, in November with Taylor this time winning via majority points decision.

Mike Tyson uses non-traditional health treatments that lack FDA approval

Mike Tyson has released videos showing he still can punch with power. Now is a chance to see how he heals − potentially with experimental methods.

At 57, Tyson must recover from a recent ulcer flare-up before he can resume full-scale training for his rescheduled fight with Jake Paul on Nov. 15 in Texas, according to his representatives. The traditional treatment for ulcers is medicine that reduces stomach acid, but Tyson’s approach to many health issues has been non-traditional.

This goes beyond his touting the mental-health benefits of psychedelics. For example:

Tyson is promoting the use of synthetic testosterone and other products to boost low testosterone levels through a business partnership with Ocenture, a company based in Florida. The products advertised through the partnership involving Tyson are considered performance-enhancing and banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which oversees combat sports in Texas.

Tyson has credited a doctor who uses protein derived from placenta and umbilical cords for resolving his once-disabling back pain. The injections are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and may run afoul WADA prohibitions, according to Andrew Maggio, manager of media relations for WADA.

Tyson also has been injected with exosomes − cell-derived particles that contain protein, according to WADA − as part of a non-FDA treatment meant to aid healing, according to Brad Rowe, who helped train Tyson for the boxer’s exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. Rowe said Tyson also has used "biohacking" interventions such as stem cells, electrostimulation and a hyperbaric chamber to address health issues.

Tyson and Paul will face random drug testing the day of their fight, as required in Texas of all fighters in a sanctioned pro bout. If the winner of a bout tests positive for a banned substance, the outcome is changed to "No Decision,'' vacating the victory.

"Mr. Tyson is not and has not been using any medical treatment that would be banned under the Texas Commission,'' Tyson's publicist, Jo Mignano, told USA TODAY Sports by email. She provided no further comment.

Tyson 'ready' for rescheduled Paul fight

Mike Tyson says he is "prepared" for his bout with Jake Paul on 15 November after the fight's original date had to be postponed.

The pair were due to fight on 20 July but Tyson had an ulcer flare-up that forced the match with the YouTuber to be rescheduled.

The fight, which will be held at the 80,000 capacity AT&T stadium in Texas, is a professional fight with a string of conditions.

Tyson, 58, has not fought professionally since 2005 but says he is ready to knock Paul out.

"I had a small adversity. I got sick, but I feel good. I'm just ready," Tyson said at a joint news conference on Sunday.

"He [Paul] may have been in the ring with people who have the same intentions, but the actuality, no.

"As soon as I catch this guy it's going to be totally over, he is going to run. He is going to run like a thief."

Though Tyson fought in an exhibition against fellow veteran Roy Jones Jr in 2020, Paul is 31 years his junior.

Asked what his motivation was, Tyson said: "Because I can. Who else can do it but me? We have a YouTuber fighting the greatest fighter ever to live."

Paul, 27, has a 10-1 record in his career.

"I love Mike and I respect him but we are not friends any more until 15 November," Paul said.

The fight will consist of eight, two-minute rounds and both fighters will wear 14oz gloves, rather than 10z gloves.

No back-up opponent for Tyson in Paul fight

Jake Paul says there is no back-up opponent should Mike Tyson be forced to withdraw from their fight for a second time.

Tyson, 58, pulled out of a planned bout on 20 July on the basis of medical advice after suffering an ulcer flare-up.

Paul and Tyson are now due to fight on 15 November at Arlington's AT&T Stadium and there have been rumours a back-up opponent might be secured.

"I don't have concern. He's doing great," Paul told TMZ., external

"He's super healthy behind the scenes and feeling great, so that's what we're focused on, and there's not a back-up [opponent] currently."

Paul is 31 years younger than Tyson, who is a former heavyweight world champion and has not fought a professional bout since 2005 when he was 38 years old.

Tyson dismissed concerns about his health at a recent news conference, saying he "felt good" after a "small adversity".

Tyson has competed in several exhibition bouts, the last against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, although his meeting with Paul has been sanctioned as a professional fight.

However, the fight will have several conditions including being restricted to eight two-minute rounds.

Tyson and Paul will also wear 14oz gloves, instead of the usual 10oz gloves.

YouTuber Paul has a 10-1 boxing record, losing to Tommy Fury in 2023.

Tyson retired with 50 wins in 58 fights, losing his last two contests against Kevin McBride and Danny Williams.

Paul v Tyson will be the first boxing event streamed live on Netflix, with Katie Taylor's highly anticipated rematch with Amanda Serrano serving as the co-main event.
