Thought id finally make a thread for my team.

A good result for us last night - shame we conceded our first away goal in europe this season BUT overall happy with the result (dissapointed with Duff's dive for the penalty :9: ) - hopefully some of our youngsters can get a run out next week at some point

We dont play until next Thursday when we play the 2nd leg against Zulte Waregem. Next league game is against Wigan a week sunday

No worries, it was just proof of the immense culture that you talk about at Newcastle. He surely wouldnt have done that had he been down in London.

On another note, theres something about them setting up statues of Milburn and Shearer in front of your home

aye its been comissioned and some guy from Ashington is making it as we speak - will be there for next season iirc

They already have a Jackie Milburn statue BUT its not outside the stadium - infact its been shunted around. It started off outside the stadium then got moved to the main street in town outside McDonalds ( :9: ) and then it got moved to St James Bouelevard which is the main road near the stadium. Not sure whats gonna happen to that

SJH more so than Keegan - was gutted Keegan left and more so when Dalglish messed our team up - Dalglish you F%&£** W$&^%$ :12: :12: :12:

I knew David Edgar was from Canada but I did not realize how close he actually was! He is from a town about 30 mins from my home town OR his town is 10 mins away from mu university.

Pretty neat.

Didnt that clown who wrote the report about the Newcastle/Liverpool game say one of Newcastle's biggest mistakes was to get rid of Daglish?
I suppose the biggest plus side to him (possibly only) would have been getting Shay Given

All i know is that he was born in Kitchener, Ontario in 1987

His parents are Geordies, his dad played one game for us as a keeper years ago BUT never really made it - he played with Pele in the US and settled in Canada.

David Edgar rejected the chance to join Man-U when he was 9 :11:

Stupid child! :P

Seriously though yeah, I was reading the local newspaper and he was on the front cover and it mentioned "Kitchener Native." I also didn't realize he is one year old than me!

He certainly is a promising player - i liked what i saw of him and im hoping he gets a few more games at some point this season.

He scored a cracking goal for Canada U20's against Brazil last year, have you seen that goal?

Whats his normal position. You can never be sure with the injuries you've had and players ending up playing everywhere

He started off as a Midfielder in Canada BUT since Canadians dont know anything about football :D he was converted to a centre back when he joined us - BUT he has only played at LB for us so far

to clarify for canadians - LB stands for left back and not line backer. He is the guy on the left side of the pitch typically defending

:))) :))) :)))

Meanwhile, any chance of James Milner getting a call up for the English squad. Hes had a pretty good season and has consistently scored some awesome goals. Has the ability to play on either flank and England certainly are having a few issues there

Not sure, he is always in the U21 side tho.

He has had an very good season for us - was very good for Villa last season and fortunately we didnt sell him (despite Fat Fred's attempts :12: ) and he has been given a run in the side and he has performed. He created a few goals and even recently started scoring aswell

I think he could do a job on either wing for England - if he keeps playing like he is then the call up will arrive sooner rather than later

No, you got any YouTube link?

SLOW DOWN! You are telling me Glazer's persisent following or Urlacher is not going to help United?

Waqar's inswinging yorker said:
amir - urlacher is a MLB :P more astute to get a LOLB to play LB :P

Well Urlacher has to be a team man. Not always about him, ok? Maybe he should learn how to play LOLB!

The Donaldson kid seems to be coming on by leaps and bounds..just turned 15 and already playing for the u18s and scored like 7 in 8

He does indeed BUT its obviously early days for him.

I want to see more of Carrol, hopefully he will get atleast half an hour in Thursday - also wudnt be bad to catch a glimpse of Troisi and Lua Lua

I must say its great to see Dyer playing regularly again. I think he's a fantastic player when fit.

He certainly is - has started the last 14 games for us (plus 1 for England) which is amazing considering he didnt start that much for the 2 years previous. Hopefully he is over his injuries, he certainly improves our team

I didnt realise it was 14 games GA, thats highly impressive.

Despite the injuries, its good to see he hasnt lost that yard of pace.

Owen will have been with us for 2 seasons and still likely of played less than 20 games for us season end...

I hope he signs a 2 yr extension..cos he owes us that.

Dyer is sensational when fit... again a similar injury record with Owen.. Thankfully we have the same olympic physio whos orted out dyer fixing up Owen and his on going Hamstring problems...

Owen is unlucky whereas dyer is injury prone.. as for Owen staying.. he sure will unless a better offer comes up

according to the local paper, Luque will be starting tonight as Sibi is injured.

I do like Luque BUT its obvious his future is elsewhere, i would much prefer to give Andy Carroll a run out

Luque ran down the tunnel after being subbed - plank ... tbf, and only reason..he is a winger forced to play upfront and he just doesnt have that nouce to do that.

was a really a docile performance...was expecting that... after Dyer usual press talks...which is a curse.

Luckily our defenders were awake unlike our forward players.

Have a feeling Duff prefers playing ina 4-3-3 formation rather than 4-4-2 - palyed much better.

still looks off the pace...thankfully we dont play AZ for 2 weeks.

Carrroll reminded of Ameobi... stiill growing - needs to bulk up a bit. gangly runner.

overall, players probably going through the motions. we didnt really break a sweat.

good finish by Martins by the way.

1-0 on the night.

4-1 on aggregate.

Luque is a goner, its pretty obvious - didnt make sense playing him imo.

Was a boring game - just never got going, its times like this when we need Emre imo.

Was good to see Carroll get 25mins, didnt have much to do tho he played one good ball to Martins towards the end.

Was hoping to see Kazenga play a few mins BUT it wasnt to be

Quality finish by Martins - thats 14 for the season now - hopefully he can get 20 goals which would be an excellent return

14 goals - thats a good return - how many starts has he had?

he has 14 in 33 appearances( league 10 in 22) .... he was injured for 2 months from october through to november missed 6 games.

where he has been eligible for 40 games albeit first game he was rested...

altogether newcastle have played 44 competitive games so far...

considering at inter - he was a bench impact player...he will get better.

14 in 33 is very good considering its his first season in a new league, he came from the Italian league and he is playing in an injury ravaged side. Has played most of his games up front with midfielders

Next season hopefully we can have less injuries - he should get 20 comfortably

And considering you'll probably have Owen back too, thats potentially 40 goals easily

newcastle done well las nite, wat was the performance like.

cr@p BUT the tie was over from the 1st leg really - the players just didnt seem interested which is why i would have played some of the youngsters. BUT we are through and we play AZ Alkmaar in the next round which is going to be tough

tis very exciting - also we can add Zola Ameobi to the mix . . . . im sure he can get atleast 5 goals :D tho im hoping we sign Dean Ashton

Roeder will probably want to play Ameobi instead of Owen ;-)

well zola ameobi ;-) has been carrying an injury for 2 yrs inshallah he will okay now...+ he has already scored 5 in his 13(3 as sub) appearances.

I know he isnt as bad as i say - im only harsh for comedy sake :D

He is a decent player BUT id be worried if he was first choice - tho he seemed to have improved under Glenn Roeder, seem to become more stronger

Michael Chpra has just gone on SS News and says he wants to stay with Cardiff City even if they dont get promoted:)

well done :14: :14:

quality player who deserves to play in the Prem and i really hope they make it (tho its gonna be well tough cos the competition for play off places is solid, even the mackems are doing brilliantly :12: )

although that will depend on entirely on cardiff if chops stays... abig money offer( £5m +)..who knows

It happens. I don't think you should be laughing considering even the big teams fall to the David's like Man U to that team in Carling Cup and Chelsea to Boro.

Geordies finally win a trophy, even if it is just the Intertoto Cup

They're 2-0 up against AZ Alkmaar. Not watching the game but apparantly playing pretty well and Dyer's goal was supposed to be quality

Wow, 4-1 in 40 minutes with Martins scoring 2. I so wish I could see this

i will not celebrate until fulltime...but we are ripping them apart.

4-2

NUFC looking a bit ragged now. Who are 'AZ'?

AZ alkmaar from holland - have a fair bit of money behind them and they are coached by the infamous louis van gaal!

He was great at barca, how can i forget him :D

AZ could get a 3rd if the game was another 5 mins long

Spurs next! Great! Dont have to talk to the missus for another 90 mins:)

Sounded like a crackerjacker of a first half, pity i missed it. The penalty was awful and they were lucky Koevermans got the rebound. The 2nd leg at the DSB will be good.

wow 4 -3 is a great result. AZ needs to score just a goal to go through then.

jao pinto playing for braga! a member of the golden generation! - already john barnes confuses jao with his brother ricardo sa pinto who is a striker!

4-2, dissapointed with that considering it was 3-0 and 4-1 in the 1st half BUT before the game i would have gladly taken 4-2 cos AZ are certainly no mugs. They are 2nd in the dutch league and have scored plenty of goals this season, also any side that is coached by Van Gaal is a threat.

That penalty has certainly made the 2nd leg interesting cos all AZ have to do is win 2-0 BUT hopefully we can nick an early goal next week to finish it off as soon as possible.

Martins got another 2 goals to make it 16 goals for the season, which like i say every week is excellent. Another 4 more to make it 20 for the season which if he can get it would be a phenomenal return.

Overall im happy with the result/performance BUT the tie is far from over

the Channel 5 commentary/pundit team is awful, they cudnt have picked a worse bunch of guys - im glad our match is on ITV next week, tho having said that they usually mess things up by having David Pleat on

it didnt take him long to settle! taken to the new style of footy brilliantly, that move has made Newcastle utd look v smart - what a top choice they made.

Bellamy was a good signing

Owen a good signing BUT been unfortunate with injuries

Martins excellent signing

Cant really say Owen has been a particularly good signing (although its mainly been terrible luck). Having said that it may well change next season. Bellamy did well but his attitude problem weighed that down.

Martins has been excellent though

yeah obviously Owen hasnt played enough for us BUT he did well in the 10 or so games he managed to play in, hopefully he can stay injury free once he recovers - he owes us plenty of goals

Bellamy was an idiot BUT the £6million we spent was certainly well worth it cos he was a brilliant player for us tho selling him was the right thing to do, plus we got our £6mill back.

Martins for £10mill has been superb, already in his first season has 16 goals (more than Bellamy ever had for us) and is well on his way to getting 20

TAK have you ever seen Danny Rose play?

We have been linked with him in some of the papers, would like to know what kind of player he is

If i remember correctly , he is one of 3 youngsters that chelsea wanted a couple seasons back but he decided to stay ,so he must have some talent if chelsea wanted him!

I think it was earlier this season - he was one of the 3 - the other 2 were Michael Woods (i think he came on as a sub for chelski in the FA Cup this year) and Tom Taiwo (i think its Tom) - Ken Bates reported Chelski cos he said the players were tapped up and they agreed a settlement (i read somewhere the figure was £15million)

we were linked with Rose in the papers today so i thought id ask TAK what type of player he is

barcodes after one of our nippers !!!

not seen him in the flesh geordie but he is highly rated midfielder - he hasn't played for the first team yet - he was one of the 2 lads that decided to stay with us after the cheslski tap up - doubt he will be sticking around when the inevitable happens!

geordie, just saw the semifinal first leg of the youth cup which we won 4-2.. your guys really do need some defensive coaches coz the youth team was as bad the first one in defense.. the 1 goal you scored was through a dead ball which was a cockup in defense on our part and the second goal was a jammy own goal... looking forward to the game at Anfield on Monday.. may as well take a camera coz it wont be full
