"There are no excuses at all, we have played bad cricket and we have to accept that" : Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal speaking to the press:

"We have ourselves to blame, we didnt apply ourselves after Shanto got out and that's the reason we are 6 down"

"I should have batted longer today as I am the senior cricketer; If we didnt make mistakes we would have been in a much better situation"

"I thought we handled Naseem quite well until that final over when he got the hat-trick; There is no doubt that Naseem is something that excites world cricket but apart from that over we handled him quite well"

Question : "What's your feeling that Bangladesh is like Pakistan's younger brother isn't it?"

Tamim Iqbal referring to the current scorecard "you don't treat your younger brother like this"

"It not just about this Test but the last 4-5 Test matches we havent been performing well, especially with the batting department we havent been scoring runs"

"There are no excuses at all, we have played bad cricket and we have to accept that"

"It wasnt an ideal shot (by Mahmudullah) as it was the hat-trick delivery - he could have maybe played it better, but it wasnt an ideal shot that's what I can say"

"As for being an inexperienced team, you cannot say that for Mahmudullah or myself as we have been playing for almost 10 years"

"When I came in to bat in the 2nd innings the wicket wasnt doing that much; They bowled decent line and length but as I said, I did the hard work and should have batted through and played a long innings but I couldnt"

"I hope we [U19s] can win this game as this will be a massive thing for Bangladesh, probably one of the biggest achievements that Bangladesh cricket has ever achieved"

"When your U19s are doing so well, it definitely gives some hope but we also need to understand that U19 and international level - we are talking about 2 different things; I am sure the players who are playing in U19 have potential and if we groom them well then when the right time comes to represent the country they will do well"

"I wont say we are enjoying this Test as we arent doing well, cricketing wise this is the first time I have come here to play Test cricket although I have been to Pakistan many times for ODIs; Before coming here there were a lot of question marks but I knew that as soon as we land in Pakistan all we will think about will be about cricket"

"Pakistan is a cricket loving country exactly like us, I hope that if everything is good in the coming years, I am sure other teams will come and you will see a lot more cricket in Pakistan"

Question about if BD would have done better if they had come earlier and played a side match

"If I start saying that, you will say I am making excuses, but the reality is that yes, we would have loved to have 3-4 days training before we start playing Test matches, it wasnt an ideal schedule, but I am sure there were some reason for that"

"I was part of Peshawar Zalmi for the first 2 seasons, and because of our (international) schedule I couldnt come (back), but I think PSL is a fantastic league, I personally rate PSL very highly; The atmosphere, the facilities and the way the franchises are run is the ideal way to run a franchise tournament; We have a Zimbabwe series after this and that is the reason you are not seeing Bangladeshi players in PSL; I am sure when we have the right schedule, you will see a lot of Bangladeshi players in PSL"

They haven’t covered themselves in glory, but the absence of Shakib and Mushfiq have left massive holes in the sides.

They would have competed much better across all formats in their presence.

Mixed day for BD fans. Junior team have made them proud. Senior team hit a new low. In danger of facing an innings defeat. Rahim, Shakib missing. But Tamim is still there. This is not such a difficult wicket to bat on.

This BD side would have won the Test if it was still Mickey Arthur running things.

Lol - the two guys with vested interests, Mamoon and Hawkeye

Says the Mickey defender. Mickey got whitewashed against SL, at home (UAE) out of all the places. Ruined our Test team.

Now go back into hiding.

hes a mature speaker, saw the presser and he handled it well. PCB should really work on who gets press accreditation, "Bangladesh are like little brothers to us, what is your thoughts?", who asks that?

Weve been here before.
We were let down by the seniors. Go back and look at the scorecards. Be grateful Mickey gave the younger lot a run.
I'm not sure misbah would have.
Azhar and Asad would be close to the door right now but not under misbah. ( Before u say why didn't Mickey push for it then, it was early days post misyou- so he couldnt put 4 new players in)

Yes, all credit to Waqar Younis for great bowling efforts on flat wickets by the young bowlers.

Honest assessment by Tamim and fair play to him for taking part of the blame.

The BD batsmen look impatient. A few maiden overs, build pressure and you know they'll play a stupid shot.

They would have wiped the floor with us at our home if these two played...

Yes, we would have been looking at innings defeat. Glad they are not playing.
