"There is no reason to skip the Test series. We are going to play Tests in Pakistan" : Nazmul Hassan

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon said the security arrangement of Pakistan during the T20 International series was satisfactory and Bangladesh have no objection to tour Pakistan for the Test series, reports UNB.

Bangladesh team backed home after the three-match T20 series on 27 January midnight. After returning home from Pakistan BCB Boss met the press Wednesday evening for the first time.

"We were not convinced about the security situation in Pakistan earlier. So, we had told that we will decide about the Test series after seeing the situation during the T20 series. It's really impossible to offer more security than what they provided us. We are satisfied with the security in Pakistan. There is no complaint from any player or coaching staff. There is no reason to skip the Test series. We are going to play Test in Pakistan," Nazmul told the media at his workstation in Dhanmondi on Wednesday evening.

However, Nazmul criticized the poor performance of the Tigers during the T20 series where they lost 0-2 with one match was washed out due to rain.

"To be honest, the performance of this series was not like we usually do. It was tough to believe that the Bangladesh team play like this. We scored more than 90 runs without losing any wicket and ended up on 130 or 140. We were defensive in T20 cricket even after 12-14 overs. I have not seen this sort of defensive cricket in a long time," he added.

Nazmul said he was upset seeing Mahmudullah Riyad opting to bat first in spite of playing in an unknown wicket. He also expressed his discontent due to the unstable batting-order.

"I asked the players why they opted to bat first. They said the wicket was batting-friendly. After the match, they said the batting was tough. I don't understand what happened. Did they mistake to read the wicket properly? I sat with the players after the second game as well. We have talked much," Nazmul added.

"Tamim and Naim opened in the second game. After Naim's quick dismissal we played Mahedi. Why? Liton (Das) or Soumya (Sarkar) was there. Mahmudullah also wants to play up in the order. But he didn't bat a higher position. He looked like he wants to bat after every other batsman," Nazmul further told the media.

According to the BCB boss, Bangladesh struggled more due to the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan. He said if a player doesn't want to participate in a certain event, he has to inform the board at least six months ago.

"We didn't have Shakib in India. Tamim had also opted out. Now we don't have Mushfiqur who is our number one batsman in Test cricket. We have to try a new batsman at number four. But Musfhiqur will return against Zimbabwe. It means we have to try a new one just in two Tests. It's really tough to come up with a good combination if a player suddenly calls to stay out of a series. We have to talk with the players and bring out a solution of it," Nazmul added.

Good news, but omg, this guy is a weather vane! Blows one way and then another. Only two weeks ago he was saying that he will not pressure players to tour and now, after the T20 losses, he is making a public statement about Mushfiqur not giving enough notice!

He says a lot of nonsensical things. Granted, this is not quite as bad as ‘don’t want to tour Pakistan because of conflict in the middle east’ but I don’t understand why some BD fans would support a guy like this! Also, why is a chairman talking batting order and tactics with the team?? What qualifications does he have to advise them on cricket?

Pakistan should bat once on day 1-2 and look to get 20 wickets asap. Hopefully Babar remains not out and gets to an average of 50 during this series

So he's actually talking trash about his own team and players?

Wow.

Which cricket governing body head comments on the playing eleven, the batting order, or the toss itself? Heck, not just comments but openly complaining.

This is PCB of 2000-2018.

Bless Wasim and Mani!

No real excuse as such to NOT play.

Its best for Bangladesh also to play Tests in sub-continental conditions also.

I wonder if Mushfiqur changes his mind on visiting Pakistan.
Bangla would probably loose by 30 runs instead of 40, if he plays. Dont rate him too high specially against Pakistan anyway.

Decent ODI w/k batsman, and thats about it really.

Don Papon slamming his own team, that is whatsup!

And thank you for approving our security measures Papon sahib :cobra

Papon has a habit of interfering in selection matters. He is an MP and he has lots of power within Bangladesh.

I am not a big fan of him but he will probably be around for a while.

This is like a Bollywood film relationship between PCB and BCB :)

Arguments, agreements, disagreements, then all friends.

We have Misbah and they have Nazmul :yk2

Whatever their fickle mind is, BD have been large-hearted to tour Pak. And Mushfiqur and other players who have not been playing in ODI or T20 series should come in too. As much as I dislike other affairs of the past, I hope Pak gets into full-fledged touring status in another 5-7 years time. That is good for the game as such.

Bangladesh were undone by the absence of two stellar players and terrible pitches prepared by sugarcane farmers.

It was a meaningless series.

More meaningless comments from you as usual, dont watch or comment on series if your not happy about it.

It was a disaster and a complete fluke. Pakistan would've lost by 200+ runs if a player that averages 14 against Pakistan in T20s played.

Agree bro, Pakistan would have gotten whitewashed had two world beaters have played. We were soooooo lucky. :sree

You are losing it brother. It is almost impossible to be as negative as you are, so not sure how you do all this. I hope you change or stop watching cricket, otherwise you will become a miserable person.

Bit of Ijazz Butt in him but good to see he has approved on our security.

Pakistan is a better team overall. I agree with you on the tour schedule though, it was pretty horrendous. They could've just finished the two test series on the slot.

How can he resist Test after all the Kebabs and biryani he was probably having.

You guys have to understand what sort of political pressure that guy is facing back home - he agreed to send team, then left it to players weather to travel or not, then half of his coaching staff objected to accompany team.

Regarding Test tour, I don’t see much of a problem here; or what do you think - he should have said that we have observed the situation which was good for T20, now need to reassess for the Test tour again.

Papon is a goon and gangster, but don’t judge him by the face value only - he has lots of qualities as well, one of them is passion for BD cricket - he is an MP, Presidium Member of ruling party at the capacity of a minister, son of the former BD president and former CEO of the largest MNC in BD, at present director of at lest 20 business entities.... don’t even think that he is BCB chairman to show his power. Problem with PP is that you guys jump too much based on media/press despite knowing that what news outlets does here in South Asia.

As far I know, he was asked why team performance was poor and what will be the team for Test series - he answered in few words and kept the security part short.... rest are brunches.
