If anyone seriously thinks that this inevitable Australian victory is what its about is wrong, its all about australia coming here when our so called buddies in the ECB and NZC friends let us down.

Now that this series will be concluded today it will open the gates for other touring parties, particularly from the west to come to pakistan. Nobody would have thought that Australia would have jumped at the chance to come to pakstan ahead of the other two countries mentioned.

It makes the Kiwi decision to send their players back really abrupt now.

Then why arrange a series? Should have invited the Australian players on a holiday, make them travel around the country so that they can realize that Pakistan is now safe.

Pakistani players and the fans have been bootlicking Australia throughout the tour and show endless gratitude for doing a big favor on Pakistan.

All that is fine but at least try to win the series as well. I don’t recall the last time a home team played such cowardly cricket.

Are Pakistanis minnows ? Some fans have developed such inferiority complex that they are delighted to have Australians back in the country and results are secondary, as if Aussies did a big Ehsaan on Pakistan so have to be forever grateful.

Pakistan against New Zealand in UAE

hate to agree with Mamoon but you know things were gonna go south when pak chose to bowl negatively in the first innings of the first test on the first day. the approach throughout this series has been one of mental intimidation, and that too against one of the softest aussies teams ever. can you imagine these kids against steve waughs aussies.

aus were the ones who worked out the conditions much better. pak have some seriously problems, only positive is nasim and abdullahs performances.

All the negative pitches, all the negative tactics - this is what it has resulted in. The champion team has eventually got the better of the meek one.

Our glorified fighters are an absolute embarrassment to watch on the cricket field. An uncle, a daku, a generator, a top order tailender, a hockey player. At times it does look like a team from lagaan trying to punch above their weight, with little understanding of what's happening around them.

What kind of thread is this lol? This wasn’t some exhibition series. Yes bigger picture was then coming Pakistan but the “professional” players for Pakistan failed miserably.

Australia has proven to be the better team in all departments in the last two test matches.

Pakistan lost two crucial tosses in the last two test matches but I can't confidentally say that is really a factor given how poor Pakistan's spinners have been this series.

A big lesson for the PCB in this series is not to pick spinners just for the sake of it, they really have to be high quality spinners with the X factor.

Ok but you can’t really win on these pitches if you lose the toss twice and the opposition bats first

Choti Choti Khushian.. Enjoy the mediocrity.

This seemed to be what PCB thought as well when they scheduled Test series just 4 or so days after PSL rather than starting with the LOIs because of cricket Australia's request I guess.

Cricket fully returning to Pakistan is obviously much bigger in the overall context but, at the same time sport itself and results are important as well.

I hope going forward a ENA team coming wont be as overwhelming for the home board and team that they put the cricket itself a bit on the back burner.

I am confident that PCB social media handles will show Warners Generator and Swepson's Star man celebrations and ask them to repeat it after their victory.

Pak played mediocre cricket in the series and there are no two ways about it. Surely need to improve that and cricket returning should be a separate thing than performance.

However, at the same time it cannot be denied that cricket fully returning back to Pakistan is much much bigger thing in the overall perspective. This is no way small thing considering how Pak was without home cricket for close to a decade.

Congrats Aussies, played the braver cricket and looked to win each game. Pakistans negative team selections, mindsets and cricket in middle deserved a series defeat.

Aussies should be happy with this series win.

It is about the way you play your cricket. Sorry to say there is no so called silver lining or blessing in disguise.. no amount of spinning of events can hide that.
Pakistan's strategy has been defeatist, negative and not going to win in any of the matches.
In the first test, they just batted on when they could have given Aussies a target of 230 in 60 overs.
They bowled negative lines. They did not go for a win in any single session, or look to make any impact.
Rather just acted chummy with Australians.

As I said, if you want be happy with mediocrity. For a nation which prides itself on being aggressive and full of jazbaa and janoon, this is an utterly shameful display on their home turf.

Well deserved win for Australia, and shame on Pakistan for coming into this series with such a defensive, cowardly approach.

Completely agreed with your first para. However, your second para is presumptuous even when I mentioned Pak played mediocre cricket and surely needs to be better.

Winning is not everything, it's the only thing.

No direction for our team in this series, always found themselves a few steps behind the better team.
Selections were poor, tactics were poor, intent was poor, decisions were poor.

But i am expecting to see how we are "the unpredictables" and "cornered tigers". Cringe stuff.

Make no mistake about it. Pakistan has well and truly been humiliated at home. As the saying goes in Urdu by the opponent "Hum ne tumhe ghar pe ghus ke maara hai". Remember that Australians were touring after 24 years and did not play any practice games either and still they outclassed us.

Pakistan was found miles behind with the bat and ball. Plenty of things for the selectors to think about ie

- Is it right for the test team to have 36-37 year olds past their primes?

- Is it right to have one dimensional accumulators from top to bottom in the batting order?

- For a team whose batting is historically weak, is it right to have five tailenders?

- If there are no quality x factor spinners available, is it right to play ordinary spinners for the sake of it?

- Knowing most Pakistani pitches are flat and demand reverse swing, is it right to play pacers whose avg speeds are below 135 km/hr?

- Pakistan is not always going to be lucky with the toss and will be required to bat last on a day 4-5 pitch where going for an all out defense is impossible against quality attacks, what should be the approach, mindset then?

- Should the team have a marital captain or just a forced unnatural captain who is only given the job because he is the best batsman in the team?

Plenty of questions to answer this series

Yes that works when you lose and lose negatively.

Start promoting tourism.

What a lame excuse for losing the series.
Here is an idea then, guarantee all SENA teams for 3-0, 5-0 test series win against Pak in Pak. They all will happily travel to Pakistan.

Australia touring Pakistan is a massive "perception" boost.

But, it is not just about that. It is also about WTC.

It was clear from the outset that the mehman nawazi was the top issue, not winning. Also to ensure that they dont run away after landing in the country so they can play a full tour....im not saying its right but thats what it was.

No need to mix two issues. You can be a good host and you will try to win as well. Playing for 0-0 from ball one and continue doing the same even when Aus made a sporting declaration was very poor attitude.

Usman Khawaja:

"We've had a lot of fun, but first and foremost, I would like to thank Pakistan and Pakistani fans and everyone here for being so hospitable; I think the boys would agree that we've had a great time, the food has been great and everyone has been really welcoming and even when we weren't winning, we were still having so much fun; To win this game today was icing on the cake but we have come a long way from possibly not even touring Pakistan to touring Pakistan and being one of the major countries to do it, yes we've had a lot of fun"

Pat Cummins:

"Even more than the 15-days of cricket we have played here, we've been so well looked after by the Pakistani public, hotels... We didn't really know what to expect coming over here but it's been an amazing experience for the whole group so we can't thank everyone involved enough; As for Babar and the players, I think the whole spirit in the 15 days has been fantastic and it was a lot of fun and laughs out there; Its been really competitive cricket and in lot of ways its been more important than the results; It was a fantastic experience for us"

What a pathetic mindset.

If the players have the same mentality, then they need to be fired!

Pakistan cricket team has had it easy, they need to watch 1983 movie based on Kapil Dev. Modern day cricketers have it too easy even Bangladeshi ttf with blowing average of 70 gives board a tough time and demands first class ticket. I think salary needs to be deducted from players and non performers needs to go on training camps for 2 years. Need a strict dictator type coach :inti

Ok but you can’t really win on these pitches if you lose the toss twice and the opposition bats first

Lame excuse.. Pakistan batted like kittens on their own backyard, folding for 20 runs all of a sudden..

Aus batted on the 4th Day 227-3 dec. In both Lahore and Karachi tests 1st inns they collapsed, not many teams would win after collapsing in the first inns.

I have never been as disheartened after a Test series defeat than this. I can accept losing and being outplayed by a better team.

What I cannot accept is treating the game with such a casual and unserious attitude, and makes me question why we even bother following Pakistan cricket.

Yes it's great Australia are touring after 24 years, and be as friendly as you want off the field. ON the field - the laughing and joking STOPS. But it was like watching starstruck teens meeting their favourite celebrities !

This and the England 2000 series are the only times I've seen a Pakistan team aim for a 0-0 draw from Day 1 of a home series. The dull pitches, defensive bowling lines and negative batting all smacked of a team whose main aim was to avoid defeat. Well you play to avoid defeat, and you shall suffer defeat - and we've lost both series.

Maybe they've already accepted mediocrity. They celebrate wins against B teams in meaningless T20I series the rest of the world doesn't give a crap about like World Cups. Plod your way to 7000 runs and cut a cake despite the match hanging in the balance. Score a 100 vs Zimbabwe and cut another cake. Score a 50 and take your helmet off !

The priority now seems to get your 5 mins of fame in our trashy version of IPL where you can become an overnight star after two half decent performances, hanging out with your mates while supposedly on national duty, perfect your crappy celebrations and get paid to travel the world.

This is the issue.

Pakistan couldn’t beat Australia even once at home. AT HOME.

When people look back at this series. not many are going to be looking at how happy the Aussies players were, how much they enjoyed the food and how friendly the hosts were. People will mostly be looking at the scorecards.

Pakistan isnt a minnow team that its fans can accept half hearted intent and shrug their shoulders at ordinary performance and uninspiring intent or captaincy

This sort of performance and result cant be acceptable Babar needs to get the message that the aim should be to win every game you go out there to play Its not about laughing and joking with mates, laying on a good tour for the tourists or padding personal stats Its about winning

If he cant lead this team to make them a battle hardened unit that wants to win every ball they bowl, win every session thry bat and win every test they play then he should step aside and let someone lead them that can inspire these players as well as give them a kick up their backsides

There should be no acceptance of mediocrity or going through the motions

I think people are overreacting a tad.
You try to make conditions suit you and pick an eleven accordingly.
We lost a lot of overs in the first game which we didn't in game 2 and 3, which cost Pakistan the chance to put Aus in on day 5.

Karachi was a brilliant rearguard by all the batters in the second innings.

We just didn't have the quality in the spin department and the opposition had the Tom Cruise of fast bowling ( that's Pat Cummins btw)

Better team won and Fawad and our spinners let us down.

Not totally surprised by the outcome, and it could have been different had the toss been on our side

A team like pakistan shouldnt be relying on the toss to win at home no matter who they are playing

You may not have quality but you should some fight and some resilience

The rubbish pitches, lack of intent when batting, poor defensive captaincy, the lack of heart from the tail all are indicative of a team short on ideas, confidence and heart

Winning and losing is all part of the game and most ppers would be fine with losses if they gave it their all but Pakistan losing like it did so meekly is unacceptable

They should be doing a lot better than they have done this series

Disagree with the OP here.

It’s not just about the taking part, it’s also about the winning.

This is exactly what it felt like. Teens going gaga over their favourite players. I reminded me of scene from M.S. Dhoni movie, where Dhoni recalled an U-19 match between Punjab and Bihar where Young Yuvraj was coming to play on his dashing bike and rayban goggles after his stint with Indian Team in Champions trophy, where he scored runs against Aus and SA.
All of Dhoni's team mates were in awe, and Dhoni understood then and there the match is gone. Result, Yuvraj scored 350 something against them.

Pakistan need an Alan Border like Hard Nosed, No Nonsense individual or a Virat Kohli/Ravi Shastri like personality to set their intensity right when the cross the white line.
And What's up with Hassan Ali, he was sledging poor Zimbabwe batters left and right and here is acting mushy mushy and coy.
This was not an entertaining series to watch, as only one team was trying to setup a win and other was just going through motions and trying to pose for the social media handles.
Hopefully, we see more intensity in the future.

This is the thing Its fine to lose but you cant be going through the motions, putting in half hearted efforts, without intensity or a real desire to win

Pakistan were playing at home fgs They shouldve took the game to the opposition and laid down markers thats its our patch and we will win this series 3-0

The lack of pride in performance and the lsck of desire to win is unforgiveable

All the local media needs to go hard on these players and let them know that in no uncertain terms you can lose at home. Losing abroad is still okay.. but at home, it is a big no no.
This is what Indian fans and media at least expect. Dhoni was under immense pressure after losing series to England in 2012. Result, Sehwag,Gambhir, Harbhajan all these big names were not performing and thoroughly dropped, never made a comeback post that.
Need some tough calls. Babar and Shaheen need to man up.

You're right that it's not about the result - having an Australian team tour is a big accomplishment in and of itself. I'm just upset that we couldn't have produced better pitches - and I'm thankful to the Australian team for a brave declaration to force a result. That essentially saved the series for me. A 0-0 draw after three games would be like setting cricket back to the 80s and would've felt horrible. So congratulations to Australia for the test series win - they toiled hard for 15 days and deserved it! The optimist in me thinks that we'll prepare better pitches next time, but that's probably not something that can be solved within 1-2 years and I'm not sure that the PCB will even prioritize it to the level the fans would like!

For starters, Be true to thyself and admit all those years of slagging the Big 3, India, BCCI, the sun moon stars, global warming, beached whales, the virus etc for all your troubles, your rankings on every ranking sheet, and why you aint winning every match yu play was serial whinging, and start self introspection.

And i would say i enjoyed watching the series, i have no doubt pak hospitality was enjoyed by the visitors and wish more teams vist pak for more series - am just pointing out how easily India gets maligned by everyone and their aunt on this pages for your misfortunes.

With all the wonderful scenes of friendship - will Rambo Raja come out and say the Aussies are angling for PSL contracts, considering he was pretty quick on the draw to suggest Aus didnt sledge india for obvious reasons?

How about looking inwards and showing honesty for a change?

Need some tough calls. Babar and Shaheen need to man up.

Babar is no Dhoni, he is a complete misfit as captain. It is similar to the situation Tendulkar was in. Thankfully Tendulkar put his ego aside and stepped aside early on to allow more capable people to lead the team.

Just because an individual is the best player in the team doesn't mean he should be captain. Captains are natural and have born instincts, leadership qualities. Need to give the job to someone who really wants the job and make a difference.

So who can captain ? Rizwan and Shaheen are similar with timid mindset and low intensity.
I mean Shaheen is still a teen so I can give some lee way. Who else?

Rizwan in the PSL showed he had a brain. Rizwan looks like a natural leader as well.

Hosting is done by organisers, hotel staff, public etc. And they did a great job.

Players' job is to win

Babars a yes man He aint going to go up against the coaches or senior players or make tough decisions

Can anyone see babar giving azhar a spray because of his poor strike rate or telling ramiz he doesnt want dead pitchez?

I can see him taking instructions off the coaches every session on what to do next

We need someone hard nosed with a bit of fire and ideas
Rizwan looks the only serious candidate for me at the moment

Too many meek and weak personalities who were just in awe of seeing the Australians in Pakistan.

You are playing top level cricket get in their faces, ruffle some feathers.
