What's new

This is Pakistan's fourth straight ODI loss to Bangladesh

tables turned I guess. it took BD 15 years to finally win a ODI against Pak, coming close so many times like in asia cup even the group game and I remember a series before asia cup 2012. But, now BD won the last 4 ODI v Pak with quite ease, especially the 3-0 at home.

Shows how Pakistan Cricket is regressing while the other teams are progressing.

Hilarious tbh, all the hate Afridi used to get, 3 years on and things still haven’t changed LOL

Credit has to be given to Bangla as well for the improvement.

Now if Pcb doesn’t invite BD to UAE this record of unbeaten in ODI’s could extend for years

Yes its but I don't think Bangladesh is a standard Pakistan has to worry about. They need to do some serious soul searching and play against big teams regularly to improve and compete against the likes of England/India like they did in CT.

Humble pies for every one of us here.

Particularly for those who were arrogant and using the CT final card against any opposition, in particular parosis.

Only other loss Pakistan suffer was way back in 99WC

Hmm. It is possible that Pakistan are scared of playing bilateral with BD in the UAE. With this sort of record, no wonder PCB don't want a series with BD. The narrative that BD can only beat PAK in Mirpur might be exposed brutally. :)

Winning against Pakistan without Tamim and Shakib two main players and two most experienced players, that was like B side, plus carrying 3/4passengers at the top and Kayes flopped too. That’s literally 4players with the bat giving a big phatt 0. Still Mushy and Mithuns recovery brought it back to something, which was enough in the end with the quality bowling. Bangladesh can only get better, still yet to click fully with the bat, need to change top order and some these batters at top wouldn’t have been in the side if Tamim and Shakib was fit.

Never in my lifetime did I ever think that Pakistan would lose 4 ODIs in a row to Bangladesh.

Now please dont over react. They played an ODI after 3 years! Pak team is terrible ATM. To turn the tide BANGLA has a LONG way to go. 1 single ODI win and look at the reactions.

We also won the Champions Trophy in 2017 that is also a fact and we will also win the World Cup next year and at the very least obliterate Bangladesh if they are in our way. Who cares about these bilateral? they are all warm ups for the World Cup mate and you just have to see our team planning / selections in the UAE which confirm that. Mickey and Inzi are mini deities, in them I trust. They have decades of experience and know exactly what they are doing. Don't worry about Bangladesh Saj, unless they grow by another foot or tw0 we will never have any serious issues against them in the World Cup.

Wow, used to smash these guys left, right and centre. It's about time we came back as the real Pakistan, the Pakistan that has brought many of us here.

Never in my lifetime did I ever think that Pakistan would lose 4 ODIs in a row to Bangladesh.

Pakistan are poor chasers and can be defeated by any team once they put some decent score on board. So nothing surprising. You have struggled earlier also against Bangaldesh in similar only for Afridi to bail out with some brutal hitting and some poor fielding to help. Unless you find good batsmen who don't panic while chasing, such defeats will happen again and again.

He is not pretending. The main issue here is BD played this game without Tamim and Shakib. In full strength, it would be mighty difficult to compete at UAE. Hasan2k8 post is the reality.

We use to lose by as big a margin as one can imagine. 10 wkts, 9 wkts, normal stuff. 150+ runs. Then these boys (Tamim, Shakib, Mushi) started maturing in 2011. We became competitive at 2012. Since then no looking back. I think we could have given Ind a run for their money if we were full strength. Right now the odds are against us. I hope they compete.

If you can get the Indian openers quickly, you're in with a great chance.

Can't believe people are making excuses. Pakistan should not lose four in a row to Bangladesh.

4 losses can happen, but the margin is alarming. Also last one is against a BD team missing 2 of the best players. I actually saw first 3 games by every ball, and last one as well mostly - personally, I felt compared to Azhar, Sarfraz was a novice school kid. Azhar lost to a team playing at home when most of our players were at their pick & PAK had a poor squad - Sarfraz allowed an under-strength team missing top 2 batsmen to post a fighting total from 12/3!!!!

Losses can occur. Problem is losing to a BD side with Tamim and Shakib missing.

It does not matter how or when - the fact is it is 4 defeats in a row.

It is not only about Pakistan, it is also that Bangladesh has got better.

It’s a coincidence. Pakistan is still the better team and if it wasn’t for the low confidence Pakistan would have beaten them. I am all for a bilateral series to end this myth one for and all.

It's too hard for Pakistani fans to accept the fact that Bangladesh is a better team than Pakistan. Youngsters, low on confidence, media pressure etc are all just excuses and nothing else.

Pakistan did not lose to Afghanistan in this series. Also, the nature of the win was not a dominant type, Bangladesh were 12 for 3 in the match at one point. Another day, another venue things could have been different. Based on the win alone you can’t say Bangladesh is a better team.

BD if they have a fully fit side will view themselves as slight favorites when they take on PAK at the WC19, unless Pakistan unearths the next Virat Kohli or Wasim Akram in the next 8 months.

Even I was hesitant to say anything more than "Bangladesh has a 50-50 shot at beating PAK in Asia Cup" given the CT17 win. But its important to remember that tournament that Pakistan won, Bangladesh were in the semifinals as well.

So yes a team might get obliterated in England next summer but it might the other one.

That's one more excuse - the result would have been different if played in England or on a fast pitch. We all know Pakistan is a world beater on a given day and I am not taking that away from Pakistan. However, the situation is a bit different now. Pakistan team is heavily reliant on one or two players whereas Bangladesh has a bunch of match winners - Mohammadullah, Moshrafe, Mustafizur, Musfiqur, Mehdy plus Shakib & Tamim.

Even Tamimless and Shaqibless Bangladesh team won the match against full strength Pakistan team quite comfortably.

Bangladesh are beginning to adapt to the needs of modern batting. Our batting let us down on the other hand. We should learn from Bangladesh who have solid middle order which can help them recover from 12-3 to go on and make a respectable total and then win the game. Our middle order would collapse under this pressure and we'd be bundled out for <200.

Bangladesh is simply a better team in Asian conditions. If they could find one or two good fast bowlers, they will overtake Pakistan in overseas too, especially with their superior batting line-up.

Not sure whether this is accurate, Pakistan did beat Bangladesh in the CT Warm up game in 2017, albeit that was due to a miracle knock by Faheem Ashraf and Wahab Riaz chasing 340 for victory.

I think at this point of time Bangladesh has better batsman than Pakistan. Pakistan has better bowlers than Bangladesh. Tamim , Sakib , mushi, kayes,Sabbir , mahmudulla are really very good team.

It was a 15-a-side match, doesn't count.

Pakistan since 2016

Overall - played 44, won 24

Against- (Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Hong Kong and Afghanistan) - played 20 and won 19

Against- (India, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia, and Bangladesh) - played 24 and won 5

PCB really needs to rectify this.

By any means it does not mean THAT OUR TEAM HAS REGRESSED BADLY OVER THE YEARS. Yes, it's going through a rough patch (just like our previous billion rough patches), and Bangladesh has greatly improved in the past few years. It can be compared to us losing to Sri Lanka a few years back during our previous rough patches.

Warm up matches don't have a status of One day internationals

not enough good batsman

fakhar
babar
malik

and they generally fail when pressure is on them

it was an embarrassing tournament

just move on

That is scary stat. 5 win from 24 against good opponents is a stat of a minnow.

Pakistan in ODIs since November 2015 against England, Australia, Bangladesh NZ and India:

Played 27
Won 4
Abandoned 1
Lost 22

Look despite the Champions Trophy, the fact is that Pakistan are bashers of weak teams but the minute they come against anyone half decent, they crumble.

Too many of the players such as Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed are great when things are going well, but as soon the going gets tough, they are found wanting.

Just the continuation of a trend that's lasted almost a decade.

Biggest reason is the top 5 teams of the world have moved on and are playing a more attacking brand of cricket. Biggest example is England where within 3 years after the 2015 WC they are a formidable ODI team because they have stacked their playing 11 with attacking batsmen while our side insists on persisting with 90's style accumulators.

Truly embarrassing. Just sad watching our cricket on such a rapid decline.

4th straight loss 3 years apart? lol

The team that lost in 2015 is almost entirely different to now and this time it was a poor performance but it is noway indicative of what you and others are claiming, that Bang are now a better ODI side.

It was a whitewash in 2015 so back then BD was clearly the better team.

And now in 2018, they comfortably beat Pak again and pushed India till the last ball while Pak lost to India by 9 wickets.

So clearly even today, after 3 years, BD is still the better ODI side.

We lost to an almost Bangladesh B team, almost lost to Afghanistan... this trend is to continue for a while...

We beat Hong Kong and pretended all was fine and well...

Pakistan's best chance against the top 5 is to bowl first and to restrict the opposition to 200-220 at best which we can chase down by the 49th over.

With the current form our bowlers are in, and the hype surrounding them, I think you are being too lenient about the 200-220.. more like we should be happy if they manage to restrict top teams to less then 300!
