Not sure if its izzat ka mamla (matter of honour) or simply laziness to accept what the world uses as units when discussing money.

Your views on this?

Well both Indians and Pakistanis use the terms millions, billions and trillions.

But it's easy to say lakh and crore and people on daily basis find it easier, nothing wrong with it.

Problem becomes when you communicate with the outside world.

For domestic, use lakhs and crores.

For international, use millions and billions.

This isn't something that is exclusive.

I think they should

I have been so accustomed to lakhs and carores that if someone says million i sometimes have trouble coverting rhe figues :))

Just add 1 zero to lakh for million.

Add two zero to crore for billion.

Its easy.

In schools in India we are taught both the units.

Yep am sure same in Pak.

Problem is that when you communicate with the outside world, we have not only to worry about fx rates but also about crores and lakhs

The conversion for considered audience is already there. Shouldn't make an issue.

I think lakhs and crores are confusing. Even Bangladeshis use lakh and koti (Bengali word for crore).

Better to stick with million and billion.
