This is as opposed to a pre-ban average of 29.02 and an overall average of 32.87.

Fair to say that Amir needs to step it up this summer, otherwise his place could be under threat.

His place is already under threat.

Mickey and him have discussed his Test future and have decided to only use him when conditions are suited to his bowling. That’s why after this ENG tour, he will most likely next play SA in SA.

Which is the right decision for PAK overall as it allows others who are younger, hungrier, and faster to break in. Like SSA.

Most pacers would be useless in UAE. Let’s save him for overseas tests.

So just because queen Amir only wants to play when he feels like it, other fast bowlers should only play in the fast bowlers graveyard UAE? How unfair

It’s not unfair.

It’s smart and exactly what IND does with B. Kumar.

If he plays every UAE match, he will be run into the ground and not even good enough for LOI’s.

It’s better to have another player take his spot than uselessly running him into rot.

He should try to become like bhuvi in test cricket. Play only when he has help and he can pick wickets else don't get your stats worse along with team's stats.

There's little point of playing a guy who limits his test matches. It's not fair on the other test bowlers which get shafted every time he decides to play. And Amir isn't good enough to be able to do that.

It's really worrying times for tests when you can clearly see our own players prioritise LOI over them. Even YK when he was around, I remember him threatening to quit tests over not being picked for LOI, despite him being clearly a much better test player.

Need to draft more test specialists, guys who will actually care about playing tests. Atm it seems like half of our guys are scared to play tests if they're LOI regulars due to fear of injury.

I wonder how Hasan feels about playing tests too. He's only played 2 tests so far, so it's not like he's had to manage test workloads, but he's getting injured whilst playing LOI, and clearly wants to play League cricket too.

Amir and Hasan should be rested for overseas tests. In UAE we may as well play the likes of Rahat, Wahab who may be able to extract some life from the surfaces. We are hugely reliant on Yasir anyways though I’d like to see Gohar alongside him.

He has been very poor in tests.

Atleast in LOIs one can argue he has been very economical.

But not taking wickets in tests means you should lose your place.

He needs to perform this series, even wont have excuse of unfriendly conditions.

So you admit that your golden boy can only take wickets on green pitches. Thank you.

I love how people bring B Kumar here. Why dont you compare there overseas numbers in same places they have played? Heck the guy averages 26 in India of all places

:amir himself is not interested playing Test for Pak.

IIRC :amir said he willl manage work load to prolong his career, obviously he willl cut down Tests to increase LOI career

I doubt he can in tests. The defensive lengths he always bowls in all formats, like a bowling machine, works only when batsmen are trying to score off him when chasing huge targets (CT final India chasing 340+) or in T20s. Doubt he can get batsmen defending out even on green pitches

It is a delicate situation for them. They could try to say some of Indian pitches are green. But then they have to account for Indian batsmen scoring runs in them.

Since 2015 he has played 9 matches where pitches were helpful five times.

1st Match was vs West Indies in 2016 where he got fifer and he had some help in pitch.
2nd Match was vs New Zealand where he picked fifer and got 6 wickets in match.
3rd Match was vs Srilanka (1st test) where it actually had help for bowlers and again got 8 wickets in match.
4th Match was vs South Africa (cape town)
5th Match was vs South Africa (johannesburg)

Now since 2015 india played around 30 tests and he was part of only 9 (out of which 5 were helpful for pace bowlers).

What he did good in those 4 matches when pitches didn't help? He didn't leak alot runs. Yeah he averaged around 50 in those matches but still if you keep it tight you can bring your avg alot down.

Just go and confirm pitch reports if you doubt me.

If Amir fails then he should be dropped. He should only focus on LOIs if he can't get his act together.

He has been rubbish in tests. We should have taken Mir Hamza to England. If Amir fails in the English tour, he should be booted out of the test 11.

The difference is that bhuvi is available fot each and every test while your king amir will not even be available to get picked.

Amazing , still remember the days we had fast bowlers who could turn it on and bowl match winning spells in any conditions, home and away.. and now they want to pick and choose to only play in bowling friendly conditions.

But Bhuvneshwar has played 11 out of his 21 tests in India, and averages a slender 26!

oh looks like you ignored my latest post where i told all matches he played and how many had help for pacers.

your amir? i am indian and idc about amir. i just said he can do similar to bhuvi in test format.

All very subjective. It's impossible to make a green seamer in India, much like it's impossible to make a raging bunsen in say, South Africa. So classifying his averages country by country is a fair way to go.

Same so called green Kolkata pitch King Kohli played well...still Kohli is home track bully. Every argument is subject to agenda :srini

Clearly he cannot perform well in the UAE so to sustain his place he should kill it in places such as England, NZ and SA. No excuses. Hoping to see some Amir magic.

Except for the fact when his bunny R. SHARMA is in front and bowls that full INswinger:afridi1

He needs to realise his place is under thread. If he performs his best, we all know how devastating it will be

Wouldn’t be surprised if he retires after this tour from test cricket, if he doesn’t do well.
Aamir has so far not really shown the desire for test cricket

He is so young and has some skills. Why not get fit and bowl in longer format as well? It's not as if Pakistan has plenty of gun test bowlers right now.

Just 3 more runs, then Amir will be certified ATG on foreign territory, averaging about 40 is a big challenge in these tough batting conditions

With Amir we have to also account for dropped catches, edges that never carried and unplayable deliveries.

Really disappointing and mediocre attitude - simply doesn't have the drive to make it to the absolute top which is even more disappointing when you think about where he's come from to get to this point .

Simply doesn't have the attitude of a champion. Another tour with a 35+ average could see him booted from tests.

Amir haters will have nowhere to hide their faces when he gets going in ENG/IRE.

I have full belief that Amir's going to play a huge part if Pakistan come out victorious.

He's not going to be dropped. So let's just get behind him. He's a good bowler who hasn't performed in tests since his return.
