Before the beginning of the Asia Cup 2018, most of the cricket pundits were predicting Pakistan as favorites for the title of this tournament.

But I was one of them who was pretty much confident that, its not going to happen and there were obvious reasons.

The Champions Trophy 2017 title given a new birth to Pakistan Cricket and many Pakistani fans found many stars. But the truth is that, Champions Trophy 2017 was a fluke, nothing more than that.

By just winning couple of matches doesn't make you a World Class team. If you want to be World Class team, you have to be consistent and that had been exposed pretty much during Pakistan tour of Newzealand right after CT2017 where we got 5-0 whitewash. That was a clear evidence about Pakistani Team calibre against a Top Side in ODI.

The ODI series we won after CT2017 were against Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, all of those teams whose cricket teams have fallen behind even Afghanistan. The same players like Imam, Fakhar, Babar all of them were hitting tons of 100's against these weaker sides and couldn't be exposed. But once Pakistani Team got a better opposition like India, Bangladesh and I would include Afghanistan as well, we were badly exposed and I bet that we will face the same humiliation if we get a series against England, Australia, South Africa, India by any luck.

Days are gone when Pakisani Bowling was playing a major role in Pakistan's victory. To be honest, we do not have a single match winner after Saeed Ajmal (who had a great contribution in many Pakistan's victories).

I had grown up watching Inzamam, M. Yousef doing the job for Pakistan under many crucial situations and getting their side cross the line. But in the current selected squad, we didn't had any match winner except Malik.

Lets drill down the stats of our current star players:

How many times Babar Azam has hit a ton while chasing? Only once which was against Australia in Australia that was too in loosing cause. The truth is that he is a Top player against weaker sides and 40's player against strong opposition and do no have he capability to get their sides cross the line.

Fakhar Zaman, do you think he is even a proper batsman? He is nothing more like Shahid Afridi who was either in the mental state of block or hit. He does not have any capability to rotate the strike. The strong oppositions are easily trapping him by getting spinner in front him in early overs. Its evident by counting his dismissals against spinners in AC2018 matches.

Imam-ul-Haq :imam today when he was playing, I was pretty sure that he will get out in 80's. Not just coz he will be trying to get his team cross the line but coz he had got his own runs and had saved himself from humiliation. He does not have a capability to dominate the bowler and gets trapped easily by the opposition.

Asif Ali, whats his role in the current team? How someone on earth can actually count him as a batsman? He is nothing more than a slogger and thats a reality. There should have been a proper batsman in his place.

And what about the selection committee which has selected this team? UAE was Pakistan's home for the past 10 years and no body knew that these pitches are spin friendly and there should be a genuine spinner in the selected squad? They just included plenty of fast bowlers in the current squad.

Mickey Arthur , can someone Question him? Oh he is a foreigner and can speak English, so he is definitely a better thinker and planner. He has been trying to experiment too much with Pakistan Cricket and thinks himself a genius but reality is that, he could be a good trainer but not a good mentor or coach. That has been proved many times on many occasions. Let me give you just one example, during group match against India in CT2017, who own earth could think about getting Imad Wasim bowled to Indian Batsman with new ball under Cloudy Weather which was friendly for swing and seam? That was Mickey Mouse Genius.

And player of the century, our favorite captain Sarfaraz :sarf2, he should open a khokha and should sell Choka Paan Pasala. He is a person who doesn't justify even his own place in the team and totally dependant on the output from the other players. He is a burden on the team.

The worst of Pakistan days are sill going for the past 10 years and thats taking down Pakistan Cricket day by day.

Harsh call on Imam but other points seem fair.

Imam lost his head after talking to Asif Ali during the interval and Asif still gifting his wicket away.

Yes he should have said stayed composed still, but its a learning curve for him.
