He single handedly brought PZ to the final and his 25 ball 77 blew away all despite KK batting at nearly 10 RPO in their chase.

Not to mention his century earlier and countless blistering starts.

One dropped catch shouldn’t take away a fantastic tournament he had - his younger brother should learn from example how to put in the hard yards and let his bat do the talking.

Still on the fence whether he should return to the T20 squad but can’t argue against his batting prowess in the shorter formats.

Fantastic batting display by him throughout the tournament - take a bow!

Indeed 'chota' akmal needs to learn a lot from his big 'bhai'
 
I criticize Kamran due to his eagerness and entitlement attitude of deserving a place in the national side after a few good knocks. He should say goodbye to his international career and stick with these leagues, no shame in that.
 
This thread proves everything. All the runs in the world he scores becomes useless when he drops catches as a keeper of key batsmen and drops crucial catches at crucial times.

It was statistically proven that he cost the team way more with his dropped catches in comparison to the runs he scored with the bat. His batting at the international level had dropped, he became complacent about his position in the team, no longer worked hard and his weight went up way above what a wicket keeper should weigh. The likes of Rashid Latif, Moin Khan, Ian Healy and Co pointed this out in public on numerous occasions and still he did nothing about it.

But no doubt he atleast has a better attitude and approach to the game in comparison to his younger brother and he keeps his mouth shut and goes back and performs in domestic cricket and T20 leagues

Yeah noone is going to remember his knocks a year from now.... the marquee match of the tournament always matters the most.
 
Sammy praised Kami for leading the batting and getting them this far, when talking to Ramiz after.
 
This should close the door for him returning to Pakistan national side again and hopefully for the last time. He brings runs but he's a liability in the field and can't handle spinners. Replace Samit Patel with an even better spinner on a bigger stage and we'll see plenty more of these 1 run games. He's had a good tournament but the final showed what level he's at.

Hmm whilst the final obviously does hold more value - the best games in the PSL and the best innings have happened outside of the final e.g. Sharjeel's century, QG chasing 200+ twice against LQ, 3 consecutive one run victories between PZ and QG in the PSL playoffs....

I am sure PZ fans will fondly remember Kamran Akmal's knocks throughout he tournament.

Even if he took the catch, Islamabad would still have won. They had Hussain and Faheem to knock off a the remaining runs at less than a run a ball.

Karachi Kings could do with Kamran Akmal at the top of the order. He batted better than the whole team put together.

The criticism is for the supporters who pretend that the last 15 years of Kamran never happened.

I am not criticising him, just saying that he has his limits and his limits are Franchise Cricket. In Pakistani colours he is a liability and he doesn't score near enough runs to warrant selection and look away from his pathetic fitness, keeping and fielding.

I hope that he plays PSL as long as he keeps performing as this is right level for him.
 
Akmal brothers izzat ke qabil nahi. Once an Akmal, always an Akmal.
 
good thing he dropped a catch and didn't perform in final, now he could come back to earth from Mars.
 
Akmal's drop catch was a turning point but Islamabad also made few tactical blunders by sending Samit and Shadab ahead of Talat and Asif.
 
He did well to get them to the final but today he showed why he shouldn't be called up. He has some good days then he has days like today where he costs his team. He's 36 and this isn't going to change.
 
He's good for T20 leagues and should stick to them..

He's a great opener when he gets going, but just because he performs in these leagues doesn't have to mean an international call up.

Plus, there is more money and less wear and tear on his body playing T20s.

Yes I started off trolling him, now I feel sorry for him actually. Guy gets too much flack for a dropped catch.

He did everything wrong this final, he took a review which cost Johnson to get out on a wrong decision.
Then the cherry on top was a dropped catch when the match was turning around its head.

Who knew what the game would've been like had Asif Ali not been dropped

Its a summary of his career, his performances in the PSL. Some amazing performances, followed by some shocking howlers.
 
Kamran regardless of his failure in the final was Pakistan's best batsman. All that changed was Ronchi was the best batsman of the tournament instead of Kamran.

Find it a bit strange why people are gleeful that Kamran failed. I'm not even a fan of the guy, and think it's awful he got so many chances at the international arena. But it doesn't change the fact that objectively PSL was a success for him.
 
OK so he got them to the final and then single-handedly lost them the final. Let's give him a crown and a throne to sit on.
 
All these years Kamran Akmal solved the wrong problem. Main question was about his keeping, fitness, and ground fielding which lead to his exit from the team. It was not because of his batting.

He tried his best to make a comeback using his batting, which sometimes good, but not consistent. However, on the other hand he is a pathetic keeper/fielder, who drops catches every now and then.I am not saying that we have jaunty rhodes in the team, but at least many of our players can take catches, but in Kami's case, he has long history of dropping catches. That means, whatever good work he or his team does, he just fluff them straight away. If he really needs to be considered in the team , then he has to improve his keeping/fielding, and I doubt at this age he would try to overcome his weakness which he could not remove in 10 years or so.
 
He's had a great PSL and deserves credit. Zalmi without him would not have made it this far. It's good to know he can still make a living off playing cricket but there is NO chance for a national comeback.

And rightly so Theres no point picking a 36yr old Best to try and develop and give exposure to a young lad rather than someone whos had his time
 
I've come across some pakistani news channels, and they've been ripping into Kamran Akmal and talking about how social media has been reacting to that performance in the final. One of the hosts just had a three way live call with Kamran akmal and Asif ali, and asked Asif Ali if he would like to thank kamran akmal for the dropped catch.
 
People keep thinking if Misbah can be selected when he was > 35 why can't they? Different time and different era.
 
At International level he has been given enough chances. Its time to let bygones be bygones.
pakistan need to look ahead .
 
I lost complete faith in him after all those drop catches v England and Australia. On top of that he was caught smiling after missing an easy run out versus the Aussies. The man should never play for Pak again. Doing well at domestic Cricket does not negate that. He can't play as a specialist batsman where as Sarfaraz is heaps better then him as keeper.

The criticism is certainly far too over the top, and it is a very typical trait of ours (subcontinental Asians) to develop a personal hatred towards public figures, especially our own. Kami dropped a catch in the final? Yes, that's bad but it can happen. He did not score? Bad but again, it can happen. Does that mean he did not contribute at all? Of course. Peshawar had about 4 games that could be classed as KO games, his scores in those games were 75, 107, 0 and 77. That is damn good, all at a very high sr only really matched by Ronchi.

Forget dropping the final, if Kamran has not made those scores, the team wouldn't even be talking about a final.
 
Zalmi didn't deserve him. Single-handeldly brought the team to the finals.

Without Kami, Zalmi was going nowhere, a poor team with pathetic batting. Should leave that team.
 
Kamran Akmal delivered a sensational unbeaten innings, scoring 105 runs from 58 balls with 13 boundaries and 4 sixes, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 181.03.
