The EU wants Poland to accept 12,000 refugees

Thousands of protesters have gathered in several Polish cities, as right-wing groups rallied against plans to resettle refugees in Europe while counter-protesters marched in solidarity with those seeking safety.

Around 10,000 right-wing protesters clutching the national flag assembled on the streets in the capital of Warsaw on Saturday, and chanted slogans including “Today refugees, tomorrow terrorists!“ and ”Poland, free of Islam!“.

Police in riot gear watched over the crowds as some lit flares, however there were no reports of violence.

Miroslaw Kadziela, 24, who was among those at the protest, told an AP reporter: "The refugees are threat to our culture, they will not assimilate with our society."

Eastern European countries can cry all they want - they take advantage of free movement within the EU, infact there are hundreds of thousands of Poles living here in the UK.

Yet they're whining about having to take a few refugees.

Fact is the EU can pass this refugee quota policy with a simple majority vote, and can also threaten to sanction these Eastern European countries if their obstructionism continues by cutting some of their funding which is what the Germans and Austrians have hinted at.
 
These countries should be kicked out of EU if they are so unwilling to take the migrants.
 
When Pakistani posters here are against Afghan refugees, why do they condemn Poland?
 
So these east european countries are fine to take all the benefits the eu association provides them but get them to actually do something in return and they kick a fuss?

These fools obviously do not know that there are million's of indigenous Eastern European Muslims who have been living peacefully for centuries. They'll be wanting them out as well. Eastern Europe may not be ideal but it's much better then any Middle Eastern country like Syria and Iraq. The Arab countries in particular need to do more to take in these people. Look how Pak has sacrificed so much for Afghan refugee's.

We have had Afghan refugees for thirty years, so please know the facts before appearing this ignorant.
 
as much as I feel that refugees are also to blame these people are nothing but ignorant.
 
If the likes of Saudi and UAE wanted they could probably make a new city for refugee's somewhere in the desert. They have the money for sure but instead prefer to beg the west to take them in. Due to cultural reasons it's for them to take in Arab refugee's who understand their culture and language.
 
The Saudi bashing has got pretty desperate when you are resorting to slagging them for not building a new city for refugees.
 
The likes of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Bahrain should take these refugees.

It's a joke that Muslim refugees have to travel thousands of miles to travel to Christian nations when there are several filthy rich Islamic nations near by. Where is the bhaichara between Muslim nations?

I absolutely hate this arrogance of the rich muslim states. All the shouting in the name of muslim Ummah but when it comes to do something then they stay shut. A pakistani man slaves his life away in UAW, Saudia etc and doesnt get the nationality while the same Pakistani man could get the nationality of a "yahoodi enemy of Islam" state in 10-15 years max.
 
Perfectly understandable from the East Europeans. They should not have to live with an alien culture. The refugees are much better off trying the brotherhood countries

yes i saw that, but as i understand it right wing xenophobia is rife in poland, and immigration is a huge issue there. and they are still amongst the largest recipients of eu funding, second behind greece in fact.
