Mahira Khan has to be worst actress i have ever seen in my life. Seriously she have no acting skills, IDEK why would SRK ruined his movie taking someone who have no acting skills. If Mahira Khan is in top 5 actress in Pakistan, well then sums up why Pakistan movie industry is in total mess.

Watching lot of Pakistani dramas these days and the best for me is Yumna Zaidi acting wise. Actress who can do different roles is Saba Qamar. Mahira is the most popular though after doing Humsafar and a recent movie with Shah Rukh khan.

All dramas these days involve women crying and screaming. What happened to dramas where the people actually behaved normally?

If you watch interview of actor and actresses they say the same. But apparently rona dhona gets more ratings and channels ask directors to add more depressing scenes as it will improve the ratings. The blockbuster dramas of recent times like Humsafar and Meri Zaat Zarra e Be Nishaan etc were all on women and rona dhona.
You have to go long back to Ashyana that was a light comedy drama and a massive hit.

Nothing to do with actresses,its the production houses and movie making and financing takes years for getting to that stable level.
Similar issues are there in Kannada and Marathi movie industries,they didn't setup right and its taking time to go eventhough both of the produce good movies once in a while.
Bombay cinema's foundations was laid very well and so many artists from Bengali to Marathi had a great hand at handling the cinema from behind the camera,not to forget distribution is much more matured now.

Mind explaining me that why her acting was such low class in Raees? I mean her acting was so bad that it even made me cringe while watching that movie. All the hype she got before the release and this is what she comes up with.
For good acting skills you dont need big industries backing you. Nana Patekar, Irfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Nasurrdin Shah etc are some of the actors who aren't so popular like Khans and Kapoors but these are easily the best in business for their acting skills. Id pay to watch these stars then some Khans with no skills

Exactly, that's why Pakistani industry has nothing to do with her acting skills,its not dependence.I agree on the actors I just came back after watching Newton and amazing movie with all FTII(rajkumar Rao) and NSD (Pankaj Tripathy,Raghubir Yadav) stars,those two institutes churn out artists in our country at a very high number,but they came after Bombay-Tamil-Telugu-Bengali industry was setup and foundation laid out for future.
Pakistani probably will go something similar in future.

I was planning to go watch Netwon. Is it worth time and money? I was actually waiting on Judwaa2 as well knowing it just a remake.
Seriously, past two months have been dull for movie goers both Bollywood and Hollywood churning out se crappy movies.

I have a bias towards Rajkumar RAo and Pankaj ,I try to watch their movies esp if both of them are in it,saw Baeily Ki Bijli as well,also the plot has a leftist twist and its somewhat similar to old hindi movie called Satyakam which again was my fav,so yeah for me this was the best bolllywood movie this year easily.
Saba Qamar, Sanam Baloch and Humaima are best for me.

Saba Qamar was really good in Hindi Medium too. Most versatile actress in Pakistan. The rest are glorified models who are getting acting roles more because of their looks than acting skills.

Mahira Khan is bog average and highly overrated. I don't understand the hype for her be it acting skill or looks.

Yea theyre good as well. To be honest the standard isn't all that bad in Pakistan. Mehwish Hayat is pretty good as well.

Not to forget Shehnaz Sheikh and Marina Khan from the Hasina Main dramas. Sakina Samo in drama Dewarain was excellent as well. I've heard that Sania Saeed has done some very good roles lately but haven't had the chance to see any. In fact have not seen a single Pakistani drama in over 10 years so can't say who is the best now.

Another one of a more recent vintage is Nadia Jameel.
Of the ones I mentioned, two were afflicted with tragedy. Khalida Riyasat passed away barely into her 40's, and Roohi Bano fell upon hard times, and these days is almost vegetative: no income and a son who is a drug addict drove her mad. Occasionally, stars of recent times hold a tribute show in her honor, where she is wheeled out and everyone says nice things about her. Most of the people at these events are half as talented but a million times richer than her.
