Imo
the list should be
Bumrah
Amir
Faheem
Starc
Rabada

other contenders
Woakes, Bhuvaneshwar, Jordan, Archer

Mohammed Amir for me easily.. Rest of them are all attacking bowlers whose primary goal when bowling at the batsmen is to try and get them out first then to worry about getting hit but with Amir its the other way around. Amir has become a safety first mentality bowler ...

That's why he's only suited to t20s not odis

Well he's not even that economical anymore.

Mohammad Hazfeez 2011-2013 would be a good pick.
Very accurate and economical, tough for left handers to play

Amir, Jadeja, Imad come to mind.

Bumrah is not defensive bowler he is a wicket taker and is just bowling good. There is a difference between a good bowler who is economical and a defensive bowler..

I(obviously the mods) shall rephrase it to pacers.
Spinners can always be taken to cleaners imo, no matter how good they are.

Yup. Both ajmal and hafeez were very economical. I remember once they were amongst top 3 bowlers in icc odi ranking.

As of now
Bumrah
Rabada
Amir.

Doesn't have that sting though, but still does the job.
So Pakistan have got all the basis covered we have
4 control/defensive bowlers (Imad,Hafeez,Amir,Faheem) along with 3 gun bowlers (Hasan, shaddy and Shaheen). Probably the best bowling attack in this WC.

Defensive skills, most probably means pacer's death over bowling.

For me, Mohammad Amir is right up there as he has shown many times his ability to bowl at the death without going for many runs.

Top 5:

Mohammad Amir
Jasprit Bumrah
Kagiso Rabada
Mitchell Starc
Josh Hazelwood

I think mohd amir is the toughest bowler to hit in odi cricket, yes he goes wicketless but seldom gets blasted.

In my humble opinion, Bumrah is the most difficult bowler to get away in ODIs. His ability to take wickets in death overs shouldn't go against his defensive abilities as a bowler.

After Bumrah:

Amir
Imad Wasim
Starc
Bhuvneshwar

Bumrah is not a defensive bowler. He is one of the most attacking bowler going around. Amir is the best defensive bowler. Bankable when it comes to limiting runs. Others can pick wickets because of him.

He is attacking bowler. Leg spinners can never be a defensive option

His economy rate (3.9 after 57 ODIs) is incredible though. Rarely gets tonked and teams always look to play him out.

You could argue that he's mostly played against minnows but he was brilliant in the Asia Cup and IPL.

Depends on what you define as defensive. Bowling inch perfect yorker after yorker in the death overs and preventing a batsman from freeing his arms is just as defensive as it is attacking IMO.

Even top teams so far have been cautious against Rashid. It makes sense as playing him out without losing wickets gives an great advantage as Afghanistan don't have great pacers at the moment.

He is no Shoaib but his action and extra zip does help getting wickets..

Pakistan has always had a top notch bowling attack barring few rebuilding phases but their main problem is inconsistent performance on the field.
