A Tory MP hosted in parliament an anti-Muslim extremist who has called for the UN to control the birth rate of Muslims, praised the genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Burma, and said Muslims should be forced to leave their religion if they come to a western country.

Bob Blackman, a Conservative member of the communities and local government committee, hosted Tapan Ghosh, an Indian Hindu-nationalist, in the Commons during an event called “Tolerating the Intolerant”.

Mr Ghosh, an activist from West Bengal, was the keynote speaker at the meeting organised as part of Diwali celebrations by the National Council of Hindu Temples (UK). He told the meeting in committee room 12 on October 18 that he had created a “Hindu Defence Force” in his state to protect Hindu communities against Muslim violence.

He said: “Your girls and daughters are threatened by grooming but in our country our land is threatened and our existence is threatened.”

A video of Mr Ghosh appeared to show him defending alleged “human rights violations” against Muslims by his supporters by saying: “We have to protect our land, we have to protect our civilisation, our villagers and so we have to build a defence force.”

Mr Ghosh was pictured with the UK far-right leader Tommy Robinson at a meeting “on demography and global resistance against Islamic violence and aggression” in London on Monday.

Bob Blackman has defended hosting this Hindu hardliner in Parliament under the guise of his belief in freedom of speech. Judging by most of the comments from the readers below the article it seems they agree with him. What I was surprised about was that this Ghosh guy was invited to say his piece at a Diwali celebration function.

I know Tapan dada..he talks against what is happening in west bengal, which the media refuses to cover. Not surprised that his true fight is being maligned.

He has even made the tabloid news in The Sun today so I was just wondering where is he based, and why is he over here giving advice on Conservative party platform?

Will probably deflect to UKIP given the reaction and even then he won't be entirely welcome with open arms, I don't think.

Dont know who this clown is and the National Council of Hindu Temples has little to no influence in the UK(from what I've heard).

It's about time these extremist Hindu's got over Muslim rule over India.

Bob Blackman is someone who called for the restoration of Section 28 so he seems to have a thing for bigotry.

Seems to be hanging on a wafer thin majority in Harrow East so after the next election he'll have plenty of time to cavort with such pleasant folk.

I was less interested in Bob Blackman than this Ghosh fellow. Is he like the Hindu version of Zakir Naik?
