Trump: Immigration is ‘changing the culture’ of Europe and its leaders ‘better watch themselves’

President Trump warned European leaders Friday that they “better watch themselves” because a wave of immigration is “changing the culture” of their countries.

“I think it’s a very negative thing for Europe. I think it’s very negative,” Trump said. “And I know it’s politically not necessarily correct to say that, but I’ll say it and I’ll say it loud.”

Trump’s comments came during a joint news conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May in Ellesborough, England. Trump was asked to elaborate on comments published Thursday in the British tabloid the Sun in which he said an influx of migrants fleeing violence and seeking asylum had “changed the fabric of Europe.”

In his remarks Friday, Trump blamed immigration for terrorist attacks and offered Germany as an example.

“I have a great relationship with Angela Merkel,” Trump said, referring to the German chancellor. “But I think that’s very much hurt Germany. I think it’s very much hurt other parts of Europe.”

He appeared to be referencing a wave of refugees who have entered Europe from Syria and other unstable parts of the Middle East and North Africa.

“I think they better watch themselves because you are changing culture, you are changing a lot of things, you’re changing security,” Trump said of European leaders. “Look at what’s happening. I mean, you take a look at what’s happening to different countries that never had difficulty, never had problems. It’s a very sad situation. It’s very unfortunate.”

At the news conference, May was asked if she concurred with Trump’s assessment.

“The U.K. has a proud history of welcoming people who are fleeing persecution to our country,” she told reporters. “We have a proud history of welcoming people who want to come to our country to contribute to our economy and contribute to our society. And over the years, overall, immigration has been good for the U.K. It’s brought people with different backgrounds, different outlooks here to the U.K.”

May also said that it is important for the United Kingdom to “control our borders.”

“What is important is that we have a set of rules that enables us to determine who comes into our country,” she said. “And, of course, that is what, as a government, we have been doing for number of years and will be able to continue to do in the future.”

Trump also repeated criticism of U.S. immigration laws, which he unsuccessfully lobbied the Republican-controlled Congress to change.

“We have laws that are so bad I don’t even call them laws,” Trump said. “It’s just like you just walk across the border. You walk across the border, you put one foot on the land, and now you’re tied up in a lawsuit for five years. It’s the craziest thing anyone’s ever seen.”

If the latter, how does one separate U.S.'s Nato related costs in Europe from it's other costs around the world?

Don't think so personally : if Europeans turned fascists and killed off a brilliant ethnic minority (Jews) in the 30s, it's because the median age was around 20-25 ; a young society is easier radicalized than an old one, for guessable reasons (median age in the Islamic world is 18, that's why young men turn "Islamists" ; if like current Europe they were 40-45, their "Islamism" would be more "political" than "radical").

Now Europeans are too old to fight by themselves. Do we have any examples of current successful nations where everything is being produced by the indigenous population only? The UK has nuclear submarines, Germany does not (as far as I know).
The UK has nuclear weapons. Germany does not.
The UK has nuclear missiles. Germany does not.
The UK has oversea military bases (eg Cyprus, Falklands). Germany does not.
The UK has aircraft carriers. Germany does not.

Germany has a far bigger economy than the UK. Meaning, 2% of GDP of Germany is far bigger than 2% GDP of the UK.

So if Germany doesn't want to play with nuclear toys, or pretend it's still a world military power capable of projecting it's military might far away from it's own mainland, via Nuclear subs, aircraft carriers and overseas military bases, then why should it be forced to spend more on defense (in real terms) than the UK?

I was born in the US (the rust belt) and I actually am educated enough and old enough to know the reasons behind the downfall of the industry in this area. The automotive and steel industry was booming in the rust belt and Michigan area till the 60s and the free trade agreement and then later the labor unions killed that golden era.. most manfucturing jobs are outsourced because we are a capitalist nation and most of the policies actually introduced by conservatives and republicans who are always pro big business and always watch out for the bottom line of big coporations.
There was a time when blue collared whites of the area, without college education, could work in those industries, steel mills, auto manufacturing plants and make decent living to achieve their American dreams.

Well times have changed.. these jobs and manufacturing is now outsourced. These people are now sold the rhetoric that immigrants took their jobs because they work for cheap... LIES!! Now they are told that they pay for the benefits all these immigrants take advantage of.. such as goby subsidized healthcare and unemployment benefits.. once again, LIES.. illegal immigrants or resident green card holders don’t have these benefits to fall back on, they are only for citizens.

They are also told foreign skilled workers are responsible.. so if an IT worker from India comes here on H1B he is taking their job.. once again a falsehood. How can you do the job an engineer from China, India or Pakistan does with your high school education?

And who even made the decision to outsource these jobs to foreign companies? The business and corporate leaders in the US who republicans and conservatives always tend to watch out for.

Trump himself was the biggest employer of foreign workers at his Florida golf courses..


But the problem is the campaign rhetoric and the propaganda has completely brainwashed the people in the rust belt and the motor city area.. they fell hook line and sinker for trumpisms. They all blame Obama for their problems.. the alt right or white nationalists, look up Bannon, Richard spencer, etc blame blacks, Latinos and Muslims for all their problems. Now they have spread further fear by using subliminal messages that whites are under threat in the country and the election of Obama was a wake up call for the whites in the US.

This country was intended to be a safe haven for those who are persecuted in their native lands for any number of reasons, so they can come here and live freely and freely practice their religion and culture.. it’s not about white culture or black culture.. the constitution does not dictate you cannot wear a thobe, dashiki or lungi.. this is where a lot of people misinterpret the “majority wins” concept.. that concept is for people to vote on critical issues, putting people in office. If the majority feels they should not allow certain people into the country or to change the immigration policy completely, then you are looking at overhauling the constitution and there is a proper process for that as well.

But due process MUST be followed rather than simply on a whim doing something to adhere to the “majority” sentiment, is my point.. hope I was clear now!

What trump the alt right and Trump, by association, are claiming is that this country was intended for whites and based on Christian principles.. which is a LIE.. the US constitution believes in the separation of church and state. You can worship the hippotomaus or a three horned unicorn for all the forefathers cared as long as you believe in the religious freedom and democracy, you are welcome here, regardless of your race and culture.

That basis in itself is the result, now, of whites now becoming a minority In due time because

1. Most white nations are prosperous and don’t need to migrate to the Us escaping persecution or pursuing prosperity

2. Most immigrants are from non white nations either escaping persecution or pursuing prosperity

3. Based on 1 and 2, it therefore makes sense that net overall increase in population is non white.

4. birthdates amongst whites are lower than non whites..


So you see it’s the foundation of this country, it’s intended purpose and the constitution allows for it, that the US is a country for those pursuing life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. So they are obligated to accommodate the downtrodden.

Countries such as India, Pakistan or even other European countries actually don’t have this concept in their ideology which is unique to the US.

Now if the majority wants it changed then they need to vote on it, till then, there is no solid ground to stand on for the people who seem to use this to make it a whites vs immigrants issue..

Just skimmed through your post and after joining some phrases it seems you are saying that US was founded on some ideals. That is true for many countries, but current generation should not be held hostage to the ideals of some old men who happened to be present at the time the country was formed.

Well, if you believe that, you are not American. Sorry.. why don’t you google the history and debate around our 2nd amendment. You will get the gist.

And I am not disagreeing with you (nor agreeing with you).. my point is that there is due process for everything. If the majority is unhappy due to a certain policy or part of the constitution, then they need to follow the due process.. which is: elect representatives that will fight for that change and present that in the form of a bill so it can be signed off on and becomes a law or follow the process for ratification of a change in the constitution.

But till such time, any person that stands up and claims others coming into the country legally make them unhappy because they feel the immigrants are threatening their culture are just barking up the wrong tree...
