Is this the greatest piece of Sufi poetry ever heard and written. I think so.

@7:10 Aql mai jo ghir gya La-Intaha kyun kr hua
Jo samjh mai aa gaya phir wo Khuda kyun kr hua

@21:51 till end is pure <3

Masjid, Mandir ye Mah-khanay
Koi ye manay, koi wo manay
Sab hain jab aashiq tumharay naam kay
Kyun ye jhagray hain Raheem-o-Raam kay

next level stuff...best thing about listening to ustad Sahab is no version is the same. Thank God for YouTube.

Have listened this 100s of times and still can't get enough of it!

One of the best without any doubt.

hainaaa. so true!

Plus there are people listening it from 25 years and said they couldn't get the complete meaning till now. Every shair is a masterclass.

Yes at times i enjoyed it without understanding the meaning of everything but have understood quite a bit over the years :)

Nice :)

I just want to hug the writer. How can someone be so good in translating thoughts to words.
Sadly he passed away wrna would have definitely tried to meet him.

I don’t think anything in any language exists that is lyrically this good. NFAK is the greatest but for this one I can’t give enough credit to the writer. He has written something almost divine

Also would like to add that if muslims today thought even a fraction of the amount in this song, we would be in a much better place. Unfortunately, many ignorant muslims today would even label the lyrics as blasphemous.

This is the only time I’ve cried while listening to music. Have listened to this during tough times and it has helped

Ohh same here, I listen songs all the time but haven't cried (apart from some while watching a movie like taare zameen par) on any of them.

Like @ 22:36
Khoon rulata hai ye taqseem ka andaaz mujhe
Koi dhanwaan yahan pr koi nirdhan daikhon

and @ 27:49
Markaz-e-justojoo, Aalam-e-Rango-Boo... till end

to name a few.

I think a lot has to do with the language itself. Hindi/Urdu is very poetic and descriptive which you can't get in English.

I heard the Nescafe basement one and a few other versions but none come close.

No one comes close. Not even Rahat who learned everything from the legend. Ustad's voice was really a gift from God.

Rahat who learned everything from the legend.

This is soo true.

I am actually dissapointed with Rahat, he was trained by Ustad Nusrat himself but he didn't carry the qawwali legacy and opted for bollywood and Pakistani drama songs. You see a young Rahat in almost all of NFAK's qawwalis.

True. He was with Ustad since childhood...while he picked up all the nuances, his voice lacks softness and poise. He also can't improvise like his uncle.

Personally, trying new stuff with music is fine. Even Ustad collaborated with many different musicians/genres...I think Rahat just wasn't a qawwal...his heart was not in it.
