Inzamam in his 11 games averaged 33 and was performing badly at home
Misbah averages 32 in his last ten games


Both took over in difficult times and groomed their heirs shoaib Malik and azhar ali respectively


They both had troublesome characters
Inzamam had shoaib akhtar to deal with
And Misbah had umar Akmal and Ahmed shehzad


They both prepared teams for their heirs although afridin and kamran both performed better under inzamam


It will be sad to see Misbah go out but I'm sure he will go out with more respect than inzamam did

The most fitting way for Misbah to sign off would be for Pakistan to collapse to 30/4 chasing 320 on the final day, Misbah drags the team back almost singlehandedly with a double century for the ages only to be the last man out reverse sweeping O'Keefe or some other crappy bowler as we lose by 10 runs.

It wouldn't be what it Misbah deserves but you couldn't get a more poignant ending.

Of course, in the real world he'll be lucky to get into double figures for the test but oh well, life isn't fair.

Inzamam is a bigger Pakistani icon than Misbah. However, if Misbah manages to help Pakistan win in Sydney, he will certainly go out on a high, compared to Inzi who retired in a match against Zimbabwe and wasn't allowed to continue on in ODIs, even though he wanted to.

Why do I recall him skying a slower delivery into the air and then walking off, with the Zimbabwe players shaking his hands and the Pakistanis giving him a guard of honor, as Inzi sauntered off with tears in his eyes?

That was his final ODI game, in he 2007 World Cup.

His final international appearance was in a test against the Saffers, where he needed four more runs to go past Miandad for most test runs for Pakistan and got stumped trying to slog Paul Harris into orbit and missed the ball by miles.

Thst was the 2007 World Cup. He played the test series against SA after that.

I believe YK was groomed under Inzi to took over after Inzi but YK (IIRC) rejected it or left captaincy after some time. YK at captain of Pak team would have been great.
YK & MY (because of ICL) both messed up all plans of PCB (if they had any) so we went back to Malik,Afridi,Salman etc etc.

Yep, Younus was supoosed to be the next captain but he bottled it. He was offered the captaincy with full backing from the PCB but Younus turned it down because the fans were angry after the early exit from the 2007 World Cup. Not even joking, that is literally the reason that Younus gave.

This in turn meant Shoaib Malik became captain years ahead of schedule and everything went pear shaped.

Bob groomed Malik right from the start and publicly stated he had the sharpest tactical acumen in the team
If Bob had a pet it was Shoaib Malik

Younis Khan might have been groomed by inzimam and let's not forget he won Pakistan a World Cup too but for bob Shoaib Malik was the real deal and the future imran

Malik was only in consideration after YK rejected it
Yk was not groomed by Inzi but by PCB but it went downhill after his rejection n MY's ICL saga

Inzi at least build a great team and left a great team a complete team. Also he knew how to take output from trouble making players not like Misbah just misusing the powers to not let them selected in any formats. It's an insult for Inzi to be compared with Misbah.
