A civilian was also killed and a over a dozen protesters were injured in clashes with the security forces near the encounter site.

A chronic stonepelter and an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Hizbul Mujahideen, Sameer Ahmad Bhat alias Sameer Tiger was an A++ category terrorist, the official said.

Tiger was arrested for stonepelting on March 24, 2016, but was released within five days on March 29. Two months after his release, he had joined the Hizbul Mujahideen terror group.

He was also involved in the firing incident on the residential house of Ex MLA Syed Bashir Ahmad in Sheikhard and in a grenade attack on the Naka Party at Hawal, Pulwama, he said.

Earlier today, a joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation after they received information about the presence of two or three terrorists in the region.

As the the security forces were closing in on their position, the terrorists resorted to indiscriminate firing, a police officer said. In the encounter, two soldiers, including a Major-rank officer, were injured. Both the injured soldiers were evacuated to the Army's 92 base hospital for treatment.

During the operation, a group of civilians started pelting stones at the security forces to disturb the counter-insurgency operation, a security official claimed.

Several protesters were injured in retaliatory action by the security forces, one of them died due to a bullet injury to his chest, the official said.

He has been identified as Shahid Dar, the official said adding the circumstances in which the 25-year-old youth was killed are being ascertained.

Meanwhile, separatist leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have strongly condemned the killing of a student, Shahid Ashraf Dar, and the two terrorists. The leaders have called for a complete shutdown on May 1, 2018, to protest against the action of the security forces.

Is it necessary to pelt stones at the army when they are conducting an operation? What do they get out of this other than injuries and death? This is abysmal. And then blame the army for atrocities after that, when you bring it upon yourselves.

Fighting against oppression has always been necessary by any means possible and with whatever at their disposal.

And then blame the army of atrocities after what happened with the deceased man and those injured ones due to their own doing?

What oppression? Kashmiris have all the democratic rights other Indians have, and then some more due to Article 370.

‘40 percent Jammu and Kashmir youth in 15-30 age-group jobless’

It's very easy to misguide these youths they're going through a tough time of their life.

Your army rapes kills, tortures young men, kills people and puts them in mass graves, stops their basic human rights. Kids grow up with hate and throw stones at a military who they hate and in return they kill people and claim they are terrorists.

Any evidence?

Thing is that both sides see themselves as the liberators and the other side as the villains. Nothing is gonna give here.
