since no one has started this thread, i have to start this. What the world has come to ?

On a serious note, What the weather like guys ? only 30 mins to start .. any updates ?
 
Pakistan v South Africa | u19 WC | Semi Final | 22/2/2008

Only 30 or so minutes and two games to go for the Pakistani u19s if they are to complete their hat-trick of World titles.

A strong Indian side awaits them in the finals, eager to avenge their defeats in the finals of the last two World Cups. But before the boys can think about that, there's the small matter of a South African team that's only lost one game in this World Cup (that too to India) so far.

Can the Pakistani batting stand up and support their bowling or will the South African pace attack prove too much and the Pakistani three-peat attempt be stopped in the Semis?
 
Pakistan wins the toss and fields.

No changes to the team that played Australia.
 
Guys please message me alink to watch the game . S.A bangladesh is looking boringly like a walk over .
 
yeyyyy!!! i heard that the team batting second would be at a very advantageous position because it will be easier to bat second! plus, it is always better to be on the batting side if the D/L method comes to play!

In 1992 WC, SAF were batting 2nd....and thanks to D/L they went from an easy winning position to needing 25 runs in 1 ball or something like that!
 
I would have batted first because this is a pressure game and it is always better to get runs on the board secondly it will be hard to bat under lights.
I guess the PAK management is concerned about rain.

That was some other silly system. IMO D/L is a very good system.
 
DNA as usual not letting any photo op go, was seen getting his picture taken with the team before the match.

What a good omen!

The Geo reporter (Sohail Kamran) was saying that due to heavy rain yesterday......it is strongly believed that wicket will help fast bowlers initially due to moisture in the wicket. Everybody agreed that it was a good toss to win.

S African captain just said that he could have batted 1st because of the lights factor.

No...the ridiculous state of that match was the reason the D/L system was invented .
(it was 22 needed from 13 balls ..then after the rain finally 21 from 1)...
 
Anyone else think it is a bad idea to bowl first in a semi final ? No matter how much S.a get surely the pressure will tell on the pakistan batsmen ?

Pitch looks a bit better today but since it is a big match i would think 210-215 will be tough to get under lights.
 
Quick boast...the bat the guy is using there ....the B&S ...that's my fathers own brand ....(Although he also produces bats for various other companies locally including slazenger and county )...the Smith is us .

we cant let them make more than 200 considering our batting and it might move around under the lights.

Umar Akmal is like Afridi in more ways than one, he even bowls within the powerplays too!
 
I think 200 may as well be 300 under the lights considering it's a semi final and the S.A bowling...

Praying doesn't work . There is not one case of an amputee ever growing back a limb .
 
Imran said after WC win that in pressure games its always gud to bat 1st.Considering our batting performance so far.it would have been better to bat 1st.
