A gunman has opened fire with a pistol in a California special-needs classroom, killing his teacher wife and one student before taking his own life.
Two youngsters wounded in the shooting were not thought to have been deliberately targeted by the attacker but were hit because they were behind the woman.
The injured pair were taken to hospital, where one later died of his injuries following the suspected "murder-suicide" at North Park elementary school in San Bernardino.
Police said they were not related to either of the adults.
School district spokeswoman Maria Garcia said the shooting was thought to have been a domestic dispute.
"We believe the teacher knew who the shooter was," Ms Garcia said.
She said all other students were safe and were being taken to a local college campus.
Aerial footage showed youngsters being escorted across a playground.
Elementary schools in the US are for children aged 4-14.
Police chief Jarrod Burguan said on Twitter: "Two adults are deceased in a classroom, believed to be a murder-suicide.
"We believe the suspect is down and there's no further threat."
He added: "Students at the school are being taken to Cajon high school for safety."
In December 2015, San Bernardino was hit by a mass shooting at a meeting which left 14 people killed and 22 others injured.
Husband-and-wife attackers Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik died in a gun battle with authorities later that day.
