I thought his response was initially correct (smile and avoid) but his comment was outrageously racist. He assumed immediately from her ethnicity that she wasn't American. It's not on to be challenged in public but he is a public servant and shouldn't have misspoke.

Pretty sure Spicer was pointing to the first amendment. If US was a true fascist state she would have been disappeared by now.

Yeah seems fake. Many Indians support Trump so it's unlikely any of them will confront him or those part of his administration.
