The Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association have stated former international cricketers Kamran Akmal and Abdul Razzaq will participate in this year’s Over-40 World Cup.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Akmal and all-rounder Razzaq’s Test, ODI and T20I careers ended in 2017 and 2013, respectively. Akmal and Razzaq are 41 and 43 years old, respectively.

“Razzaq and Akmal join the star-studded list of Pakistan Over-40s players. The Over-40 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Karachi from 23 September to 8 October 2023,” read Thursday’s statement from the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association.

“Eight teams will be participating in the tournament, with a total of 36 matches set to played at five grounds in Karachi.”

Razzaq and Akmal’s inclusions follow last week’s announcement of former international captains Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi‘s participation in the Over-40 World Cup.

The Over-40 World Cup in Pakistan isn’t necessarily officially sanctioned by International Masters Cricket.

IMC have stated the official Over-40 World Cup will be played in Cape Town, South Africa, in March 2024.
