Great ball but I wouldn’t say that. The reaction is priceless though

he made it look like "ball of the century" but nothing taking away from the bowler yes it was a fantastic ball

Kohli's shot made it look better than it was.... it was a typical leggie. Kohli should have been on the front foot.

Strangely Kohli has been getting out to spinners disturbingly often in the last 6 months. Obviously it was a fantastic delivery but Kohli has been struggling with spin for a while now.

Was good ball but i have seen many many better balls. Kohli just made it look great.

Yes, I like my ball of the century to rely mostly on the batsman picking up length like a tailender.

Kohli gets bonus points for doing a Laxman and reacting like an average ball that bowled him was absolutely world class and unplayable.

Great delivery but Warne's was better, Warne's drifted so much and pitched outside leg stump yet still hit off.

So OP is saying Yasir Shah will eat him alive if India ever decided to play Test match with Pakistan...

it was a very good ball, not unplayable, kohli can't play spin. Not even the ball of the year lol

Best bowl at the time it was bowled among all the Cricket matches being played around the World.

Everyone so far has been mostly underrating it and overrating it but I personally think it was probably one of the best balls in the past couple years but nothing more than that.

It was a good delivery. Spun a lot at pace.

Kohli was late on the shot and did not expect the ball to spin as much as it did.

Also, he chose to play backfoot for that ball and his intention was to punch it to the off side off the back foot.

Kohli made it look more good than it really was.

Ball of the year maybe but that look on Kohli's face will live on for centuries to come :))

Good delivery but lazy batting more than anything. Kohli's misread it from the hand, probably read it as a slider and was looking to play it on the back foot with soft hands through midwicket, by the time he realised his mistake it was too late to adjust.

I agree with this.

Fantastic delivery.

Not just the quality of the ball but the way he set up Kohli, totally owned him.

He did mess up Kohli’s idea of the length, so that should count for something.
Having said that, online commentary is abysmal

Geoffrey Boycott would have played that ball with a stick of rhubarb with his eyes closed :)

Decent ball which deserved a better shot than Kohli's lame effort in order to elevate its status.

Instead he played it like I probably would have done.

Next time kohli should try to play it of the front foot. It was just regulation leg break

I think both Rashid and Panesar are criminally underrated by SC fans.

This was a gem. Bamboozling ain't a small feat.

People downplaying this delivery like they are second coming of Sehwag..

It was a great delivery and totally fooled Kohli.. Kohli misread it completely and played all over it.. The thing about such dismissals is that kohlinwas set and had a feel of the pitch and bowling suddenly the bowler bowls a fast turning leg spin which fools him.. He did not expect it to turn and such a pace m, if balls before this delivery we’re turning at such pace he would have been more cautious and played on front foot.. It was a great ball which bamboozled Kohli.

But starting a thread like ball of the century is just ridiculous. Would expect better from administrators of this site or ex administrators than start a thread like ball of the century which would make posters indulge is mockery of the ball(injustice to Rashid) or mockery of the batting ability (injustice to Kohli).

If that was the intention then bravo you succeeded.

That wasn't the intention. It was a great ball and dismissal overall was dramatic, deserved its own thread.

But everyone started mocking the title so I joined in. :P

It was a very good delivery but the visuals were more dramatic because of the way Kohli played it...

Rashid signs new White Rose deal

Leg-spinning all-rounder Adil Rashid has today agreed a new one-year all-format deal with the Club.

The new contract will see the 30-year-old make himself available for all forms of the game, continuing his 12-year affiliation with the White Rose county.

Rashid, capped in 2008, re-negotiated his club contract at the start of the year so that he was only involved in one-day formats.

But he was selected for England’s recent summer Test series against India, playing all five Tests in a 4-1 victory. He has been selected for the pre-Christmas tour to Sri Lanka and he will hope good form for Yorkshire can strengthen his claim for next summer’s home Ashes.

“There’s been a lot of talk and speculation but Adil is a very valuable cricketer for us,” said Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon.

“Now he’s in the Test team, how much he’ll be available for us next season is unclear. But when he is available we’d be delighted to have him and for him to be part of what would hopefully be a successful summer.

“For now, it will just be for a year because it’s still not clear what career path he’s going to take. He’s back in the Test team and continues to do well, so we’ll see where that takes us. Obviously going into 2020 and with the new competition, players are waiting to see how that will affect contracts.

“I think for now it’s good to have the one year and see how the winter goes for Adil. We’ll probably have another look at it after the World Cup and see where he is, particularly with England and how much he’s involved with them. In the short-term it’s good to know when he’s available he’ll be playing for us.”

Rashid, who took six wickets on his Championship debut for Yorkshire as a teenager in 2006, has taken 500 First-Class wickets at an average of 34.98. All of his 10 hundreds have come for the White Rose. In all T20 cricket, at international and domestic level, he has taken 178 wickets and scored 677 runs. In the one-day arena, he has returned 255 wickets and 1,584 runs.

Rashid made his Test bow in late 2015 on tour of the UAE against Pakistan and has made 15 appearances in all to date.

Rashid, who took 10 wickets for 50 runs in seven Championship matches in 2017, was recently told by national selector Ed Smith that he must be available across the board from the start of next summer to be considered for Test cricket.

Moxon continued: “It was a big surprise that he wanted to play white ball only and asked us for a white-ball only contract. That changed very quickly and unexpectedly so that created a bit of confusion and instability for a little while. But I think we’ve been clear from the outset that we wanted to keep Adil at the club. When it became known he had to have a red-ball contract, we were more than happy to put that in place.

“Speaking to Adil he’s keen to stay here and has been here all his life. He’s in no mood to change that. We’re really pleased to keep him. We all know he’s a matchwinner for us. Leg-spin bowlers, wrist-spin bowlers are vital part of the game and that’s what we want from Adil, that potential to be a matchwinner for us in all formats.”
