A bowler of some fantastic skills, and someone who was admired by all his contemporizes - Wouldn't it be great if he could transfer those skills to younger bowlers?

Here is a glimpse of his knowledge and how well he can explain the art of bowling.

He can be good for workshops and project assignments, but not as a full time coach.

He can be a great guy to teach strategy and the art of setting up a batsman.
However, only a very advanced learner can deduce any noteworthy knowledge from his teaching style because he isnt aware about the basic mechanics of a bowling action.

The thing with Asif is can you even be sure that the man is fully in control of his thinking mechanisms whilst verbally expressing them and is under no influence of any substance? Very hard to take someone seriously in such cases

Wasim Khan should aggressively try to recruit this guy at the NCA.

He would be a brilliant bowling coach. Not sure if he is interested in coaching.

He has the same coaching manual like Wasim Akram, "Lock your wrist".

Does he has anything else to offer?

His knowledge of bowling is excellent and he is keen to teach young bowlers.

I guess the issue is about discipline and whether he and PCB would want to work together given what's happened in the past.

By the way, he's looking to launch a cricket academy in USA at some point in the future.

Strong believer that people can change, and what better person to teach young kids against making a mistake, than someone who made one and lost everything. There are countless examples of this in many different fields (one example that comes to my mind is Shaun Attwood for those who know him).

I dont know about his life outside of what happened, but could be a good person to help with grassroot cricket for the time being.

The “lock the wrist and flick it” dance step.

The problem with these guys is that yes they worked hard in practise perhaps but the majority of their skill level is being derived from the natural talent and they do not appreciate that not everyone was blessed with that. And that is why they aren’t gonna make great coaches.

Out of question. Imagine how bad influence he will be to the kids. I cant image any respect element from any young kid to a corrupted tainted human being.

So much talent. It’s a shame... make him the bowling coach at U-19 level.

He would be a brilliant coach. As opposed to Waqar and Azhar, whenever I've heard him talk of bowling, he makes some very interesting analysis.

He's a genius. Hope he becomes a bowling coach at some level soon.

He has learnt his lessons and paid the price in form of his career. On the other hand he could be good example for young children when they come to know even a genius can be side lined for lack of ethics.

He gave an interview on bolain Kya baat hai in December 2017 which was probably the best episode of the show not because I am a big of this guy but because of the topics he was discussing and the knowledge he was sharing. I have not seen any ex or current cricketer from Pakistan being so technical in an interview.

That bit where he discusses bowling to left handers is what Shaheen needs to learn when bowling to right handers. Ideally the ball should swing from on off or a little outside off and end up around middle and off. He gets enough swing but it's the angle of attack that holds him back, he should work on the point of his release and getting close to the stumps. Like Asif mentioned here, to swing out to right handers he would keep his bowling arm away from his head a little. Boult in the WC bowled slightly round armish to get the best angle against right handers. Wasim also used to vary his point of release a lot and very effectively, sometimes his arm would be close to his head and sometimes quite a bit away from his head.

Give it 5 years max and he'll be coaching in some capacity in Pakistan. Time heals all wounds.

Well let's see.

Relations between him and PCB aren't great and he doesn't rate the PCB very highly.

In response to recent comments about Asif having the makings of a good coach.
