So instead of helping, the person took a video of it?

Italy has many racist people. Not surprising at all.

Also, recent migrant crisis has probably increased racism.

You have to be a very big coward to attack (let alone kill) a disabled man.

This should be considered as a terrorist attack.

The death of a migrant who was attacked in broad daylight in central Italy has sparked outrage.

The assault on the Nigerian street trader by another man in Civitanova Marche town centre was captured on video on Friday.

The recording, reportedly made by onlookers without any attempt to intervene, shows the victim being held to the ground by a white man.

A 32-year-old Italian has been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery.

The video of the attack - which has been widely circulated on Italian news websites and social media - has shocked the community, with many highlighting the "indifference" of witnesses.

The circumstances of the incident are unclear.

The victim has been named as Alika Ogorchukwu, a married father of two.

His wife, named as Charity Oriachi, could not contain her tears as she told media how she was shown the body of her husband lying on the ground.

On Saturday hundreds of people from the local Nigerian community took to the streets of Civitanova Marche, in Marche region, to demand justice.

The attack has also been condemned by Italian politicians.

Enrico Letta, the leader of the left-wing Democratic Party, said what happened was "dismaying".

"Unheard of ferocity. Widespread indifference. There can be no justification," he wrote in a tweet.

Right-wing leader Matteo Salvini also expressed outrage over the death, saying "security has no colour" and "needs to return to being a right."

People need to understand that these people leave there home because the west keeps bombing and looting them. In today's day and age i suggest coloured people in particular learn some self defence techniques. It is worth the effort to learn some killer moves. Build the body and biceps in what is becoming an insane world. Survival of the fittest nowadays folks.

"A 32-year-old Italian has been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery." The evidence of the attack is crystal clear on video yet he has only been arrested. The man should be in prison forever.

Wait till winter in Europe

When the energy prices go through the roof , high inflation food shortages rationing

Europeans will face what the third world faces then you will see how civilised these people are I'm expecting riots and attacks on minorities to increase

The UK shouldn't have messed with Russia and upset Putin to please Ukraine. Now I feel Putin will make the UK pay big time come the winter. Those on this forum who support every UK and American war dismissing victims of their wars as lesser forms of life deserve to suffer like never before. That is the only way they will understand how it feels to be on the receiving end. Russia and China know the west, Europe and America are a dying power.

Horrible act to attack a disabled man. Dominant culture extremists usually target the weak

What is this ? Someone is sitting around on the benches and someone taking the video but nobody tried to intervene.

I find that sickening.

Almost think that person taking the video was doing for some other motives.

So instead of helping, the person took a video of it?

I know it seems heartless, but by taking the video at least it was recorded so we can understand something about it. Can you really judge a community based on a single incident?

Italian police have arrested a man over the brutal killing of a Nigerian street-seller, an attack that was filmed by onlookers in broad daylight without any apparent attempt to intervene.

Video footage of the attack on the disabled man has circulated widely on Italian news websites and social media platforms.

Police said people can be heard saying "stop" but no attempts were made the separate the pair.

It has elicited outrage as Italy enters a parliamentary election campaign in which the right-wing coalition has already made immigration an issue.

"The murder of Alika Ogorchukwu is dismaying,'' Enrico Letta, the head of the left-wing Democratic Party, wrote on Twitter, naming the vendor who died on Friday.

"Unheard of ferocity. Widespread indifference. There can be no justification."

Police have detained 32-year-old Filippo Claudio Giuseppe Ferlazzo, who was tracked down using street cameras after the vicious attack.

He is being held on suspicion of murder and theft, the latter for allegedly taking the victim's phone when he fled.

Mr Ogorchukwu, 39, was selling goods at midday Friday on the main street of Civitanova Marche, a beach town on the Adriatic Sea coast, when an Italian man grabbed a crutch the street-seller used to walk and struck him down, according to police.

Footage shows him being wrestled to the ground, despite attempts to fight back.

Police chief Matteo Luconi told Italian news channel Sky TG24 that onlookers called police, who responded to the scene after a suspect had fled and attempted to administer aid to the victim. It was not clear if he died at the scene.

'The compliment that killed him'

Luconi told Sky TG24 the assailant lashed out after the vendor made "insistent" requests for pocket change. Police were questioning witnesses and have taken into evidence videos of the attack. They said the suspect has made no statements.

Mr Ogorchukwu, who was married with two children, resorted to selling goods on the street after he was hit by a car and lost his job as a labourer due to the injuries he suffered.

The accident left him with a limp, and needing crutches, said Daniel Amanza, who runs the ACSIM association for immigrants in the Marche region's Macerata province.

Mr Amanza claimed the aggressor became infuriated when Mr Ogorchukwu told the man's companion she was beautiful.

"This compliment killed him,'' Mr Amanza told The Associated Press.

"The tragic fact is that there were many people nearby. They filmed, saying 'Stop', but no one moved to separate them,'' Mr Amanza said.

Call for justice

The wife of a Nigerian street trader who was killed in Italy has told the BBC she is seeking justice following his "painful death".

Aliku Ogorchukwu, 39, was reportedly selling handkerchiefs in the seaside town of Civitanova Marche on Friday when he was chased and beaten to death.

A 32-year-old Italian has been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery.

A video circulating online shows a man on top of Ogorchukwu, punching him with his bare hands.

None of those who witnessed the broad daylight attack appeared to intervene.

"This is a form of wickedness I don't know," Ogorchukwu's wife, Charity Oriachi, told the BBC's Focus on Africa.

Ms Oriachi said she had received help in coming to terms with her husband's death but was tired of "talk". Now, she was only interested in justice, she insisted.

Her family had lived in Italy for a long time, she said, stressing that her husband had never sought any trouble.

The killing has sparked outrage in the local community, including Nigerians, who took to the streets over the weekend and are planning another demonstration soon.

The Nigerian government has asked Italian authorities to quickly "bring the perpetrator of the heinous act" to justice.

Suspect not released
The suspect - a white man named as Filippo Claudio Giuseppe Ferlazzo - has been ordered to remain in jail as the investigation continues.

His defence lawyer told the media the suspect had said he was sorry and that there was "no racial element" involved.

A police investigator said Ogorchukwu was attacked after the trader's "insistent" requests to the suspect and his partner for spare change.

The partner, identified as Elena D, told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera that Ogorchukwu had touched her arm, but that did not bother her.

Ms Oriachi now wants to see the suspect "face to face", to understand why he killed her husband, the family's lawyer told the Associated Press.

I was surprised nobody interfered and stopped the attack. It was in broad daylight.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the power of MSM compels you!

The BBC are not reporting this news as a racist attack, you know, like when George Floyd was killed by white police officers in Amreeka and BLM took off.

Disgusting act, disgusting MSM. MSM simply want to avoid race riots in Italy, want to avoid public uproar, which is already facing the gun barrel of economic and social destruction.

Speaking of which, where is BLM now? Has BLM made a statement? Will BLM be marching on the streets? Or do black lives only matter in Amreeka and UK?
