Think Imad should have simply been relieved off the central contract. Those without contracts who play just 1 format can play as many t20 leagues as they like while they can still be considered for selection in t20is.
For multiformat players, NOCs should be strictly in place as Pak can't afford to have players breaking down one after another regularly. They can instead be compensated with better central contracts.

Was it really a friend's squad or a misinformed captain backing the wrong players. I would hope a Pakistan captain would not shoot himself in the foot by basing selection on friendship. I think Babar tried to create a united front by backing a group of players but some of them frankly were not worthy of backing.

Babar could have done that with the right players too. Not undeserving players who are easy to assert dominance over.

What I am saying is that Babar is not smart enough to identify the right players and therefore he was undeserving of the selection powers given to him and rightfully sacked.

I think this is more plausible than him just trying to select his friends for a good time.

Imad is always ready to criticize everyone except himself. In psl 2023 he was the captain for karachi with amir in the team as babar moved to peshawar. He still was able to win only 3 games even after getting complete control and no babar interference. Well the results speak for themselves..

There have been so many players who have ignored massive IPL contracts in order to play for their country. On the other hand you have Imad playing for fee rupees.

In 2011-2012 he was offered a country contract of 3 years, with a car and housing. THat is confirm employment with confirm stream of money. Guy didnt take it, even though everyone assumed Misbah would retire after the 2013 Champions trophy.

He forgo 3 years of confirm cricket and salary for 7 months of unconfirmed cricket. His gamble paid off.

Thing is, you need to be sure what your goals and motivations are. Did you train hard enough to play for country or for a salary.

In Imad's defence, its not like he is making illegal money like others have done in the past. If he is not getting selected for the national team, why throw away a certain contract.
