[VIDEO] "Gesture made by one of their (Indian) players was highly uncalled for": Sarfaraz Ahmed

The post was about sledging. I thought it was clear.

He did agree in a recent clip of some exhibition match that Akhtar gave him a round of some massive Gaaliyan.

Don’t understand the point of your post
Point is he did not go around crying about the sledging after the match. Settled matters on the pitch. Did not complain to match referee

Unlike here where Sarfaraz is still crying even after the game & now planning to lodge a complaint to ICC

Too much is made of this, particularly by the fans. Pakistani players, especially former players, also created unnecessary drama during the Asia Cup. I mean, their job is to play the game and play it hard. What the other team does or does not do should not be an issue. No handshakes, shouting, crying, or whatever else should not matter. It should not be an issue at all.

I think Indians need to understand one thing. They were shocked when Pakistan went overboard in the second T20i with their gestures and verbals, they believed stuff like that shouldn’t have been said on the playing field….we remember Abhishek’s crying in his interview…

Truth is, all of these aggressive send offs a sledging by them is fine as well….as long as after the game both teams shake hands and accept what happened on the playing field stays there.

Indians dont want to do that, so they shouldn’t be crying or feeling hurt when they are receiving it themselves.

It all started after May clashes as BCCI started politicizing cricket, ordered not to shake hands in tournaments etc.

Pakistan cricket has a crybaby attitude. Always crying abt 1 thing or the other.

They dont shake hands
Referee did this
DRS cheated
Surya said this or that
Abhishek Sharma said this
Tilak Varma said this
Vaibhav showed us his feet

Like little kids complaining to Headmaster in school
The only one who was crying was Abhishek Sharma

Stop making things up.

People must be careful about sledging because it hurts the most when it’s real. Pakistani players have been trying to provoke Indian players purely out of frustration for not having won a. Lot recently, and when Indian players reply like that and have a mic drop moment they start whining.

I am no fan of Vaibhav telling Pakistani players they’re no better than roadside boot polishers to him in financial terms. It’s not good for the game. But when a bunch of Pakistanis are acting crazy after they’re finally winning a game after dozens of tries, you have got to put some kids in their place.
Ridiculous statement. Celebrating is part of the game. Shame to see your response, no objectivity.

Honestly we see similar stuff from the Pakistan side

" Hindus dont have fast bowlers bcoz they dont eat beef " - Aquib Javed

" Hindus are cowards , so they will lose to India " - Imran Nazir before 2015 World Cup game

" Felt proud seeing Rizwan doing namaz in front of Hindu players " - Waqar Younis

" Cricket against India is like war / jihad " - Javed Miandad

" Hindus have small hearts " - Shahid Afridi

Pakistanis often ignore the propaganda & brainwashing from their side & focus only on Indian side

Not saying Indians are saints but lets not pretend that Pakistanis are any better
There’s loads if things Indians have said and are forgotten about, but for you to remember the exact words, it must have triggered you and all I can say the to the accused is - well played 👏🏼 👏🏼

I think everyone on this forum would call out all of those statements and feel embarrassed. That is the difference.

When Pakistani say such things - its well done , Look Indians are so triggered. Great job

When Indians say such stuff - its so bad , Indians are brainwashed , bad upbringing bla bla bla

Curse be on liars.

All those statements you shared were never said.

Aqib javed, imran nazir and Afridi said that about indians, not about hindus.

Curse be on a person who spreads lies around here

Half of the statements the poster shared were never said. He is lieing

I don’t think there’s any crying. Why would someone cry after winning lol

He told his team not to celebrate like uncouth individuals - which is a totally reasonable and mature thing to tell to your young players.

He was asked a question about it and he expressed his opinion.

Also, my point, when mentioning the said match, was just a comparison of sledging skills of the two countries. Not how it was settled or how it compares to this Under 19 game.

Next he will claim Sachin Tendulkar was crying after that 2003 WC Centurion game

High levels of delusion !
Didn’t he say that in the presser that Pakistani bowlers were coming at him for no reason?

Isn’t that the same as Sarfraz saying that the actions of the Indians were uncalled for?

If one is crying, the other is too. Have the courage to be consistent :)

All he said was Pakistani bowlers wer saying a lot but he was letting the bat do the talking . As it should be

He completely ignored the fact that his players started the fracas & Vaibhav responded in kind

Bit like that schoolkid who takes panga with a bully , gets slapped back & now runs to the Headmaster to complain.

It is an u19 tournament. So generally, gestures and stuff are highlighted a bit more. He is a mentor. It would work the same way around. If most people on this forum saw some Pakistani batter doing the shoe gesture, we would call it out. Spade is a Spade.

That’s a fair point - they did say “Indians”

Tbh I really don’t remember what Indians have said. I usually just laugh at their wannabe behaviour.

I mean seriously, they don’t look very threatening do they?

I mean Vaibhav does not look very threatening either but he triggered u so badly now that 60 year old Mohsin Naqvi & 40 year old Sarfaraz lodging a complaint to ICC against a 14 year old schoolboy

He completely ignored the fact that his players started the fracas & Vaibhav responded in kind

it never ceases to amaze me...

For a country with the biggest talent base, most amount of financial clout and advantages in the sport, biggest media propoganda arm etc etc, the ability of it's fans to see themselves as a victim is truly astounding.

Anyway, it's a moot point, and I'd rather Naqvi just leave it alone.

Who exactly is playing victim here ?

Its Sarafarz who did a presser on it. Its Mohsin Naqvi who lodged a complaint to the ICC

I believe Indian team was distracted due to direction from BCCI to not accept the trophy from Naqvi when they win.

Such distractions will only make them look like fools going forward.

You can tell their whole world comes crashing down when they lose against Pakistan. Which is why our senior team needs match winners and there need to be a proper surgery which is so badly long due. India getting beaten is victory for the whole world. Worst people to deal with - uncouth, disgusting and conniving.

so are you justifying Vaibhav's low actions?
Yes he did nothing wrong. He was provoked by the Pakistanis & he responded in kind. Now Pakistanis are crying bcoz they dont like how he responded

Like a schoolkid who takes panga with a bully , gets slapped back & then runs to the Headmaster to complain

I agree they shouldn’t do that - no need really.

As I’ve said earlier in this thread, Sarfraz really didn’t need to comment on this at all. It was all good. I expect better from Sarfraz. Naqvi is a politician so he’s gonna do silly things

Hes a product of his upbringing and society..

Nothing more to it.
I condemn the excessive sledging or the reference to shoes etc.

Did you actually see the entire incident- what led to it? When they got the wicket of Vaibhav, there was an aggro send off and most by the dude who was last in the lineup of all those who were converging on the bowler, the dude who jumped across the bredth of the pitch and said the most vicious things which let to him reacting the way he did. This was shown on only one angle and hence the perception is one sided. I hope you get the footage i am talking about - this might make things clearer.

before you jump on the upbringing and society of one side, please remember its a two way street.

Once again, i wish there was no sledging of this sort at all, at least by the young guys.

Erm, Crying? really? i guess u r talking about the Asia cup t20 - group stage 2nd one...the one in which he said 'they were coming at me for nothing' with a twinkle in his eye? crying - really? he really put foo flyer Harris rauf in his place in that game, dinnhe? the only fireworks were the indian batsmen showing the boundaries and giving verbals galore..

All he said was Pakistani bowlers wer saying a lot but he was letting the bat do the talking . As it should be
He said pak bowlers were coming at him for no reason.

Sarfraz said Indians actions were uncalled for.

No difference as per your definition of crying

He completely ignored the fact that his players started the fracas & Vaibhav responded in kind

Bit like that schoolkid who takes panga with a bully , gets slapped back & now runs to the Headmaster to complain.

They didn’t start. Indian bowlers behaved the same in the previous game.

You think what the Indian batsman did was equivalent to a slap back? lol 😂

bhai jaan Zaleel huway ho final mein buri terhan. Your illogical analogies might only help you sleep at night. Bullies don’t get thrashed like that and Winners have no reason to complain. Pakistan is celebrating while the Indian kids or on the way back on the losers bus

I criticized the pak team for crying about the whole handshake issue especially when they were losing. Losers shouldn’t complain.

By the same logic, the Indian batsman pointing at his feet after getting dismissed is a pathetic look. You just got defeated by the bowler and your team is getting thrashed. Shut your pie hole and make the walk back.

no, I didn’t watch the entire match, only the clip where he is making the gestures and comments..

I agree with your assertions but society and upbringing do impact, both sides including, obviously money/fame changes behaviour.

there is no need for it to get this bad, BUT there has been a precedent set and i can only see it getting worse.

Pakistanis will be vilified in india and vice versa, but i personally think the Indian narrative is more toxic.

Its only going to get worse herein onwards, i wish it wasnt the case..

Neither do I, as an Indian our youngsters can do much better.... and we have several fantastic role models to emulate this...

When Rahul Dravid was our u-19 coach, this would never have happened......but yes - that clip that you probably have seen is a 2 D version of a 3D event, it is also possible that Vaibhav S was provoked into behaving the way he did, with whatever was said, by the last guy, the pak team member who skipped across the entire length of the pitch when the wicket of Vaibhav S was taken, and said what he did and Vaibhav reacted which is what led to this thread...I hope you get to see that exact VDO, because it does not appear to be available easily and only one side of the narrative is played out/easily available....

But anyways, i hope this is a wonderful learning experience for indian players, especially for Vaibhav S - he comes out better, improved, more mature, more in control of his feelings/emotions/jazbaat...

The way he behaved, or a lot of indian players behaved, was not keeping in line with our indian legacy of dignity in defeat and restraint in victory, shown in spades by players who played the great game before, the Amarnaths, the pataudis, Umrigar, Vishy, Sunny, Chandra, Pras, Vengy, Kapil, Srinath, Rahul, Sachin, Anil, VVS, Rav jadz, jazz Boom, jinks, Rishabh etc

The Game is always greater than the players who played it....The players who are currently playing it have a responsibility, a zimmedari, a default conscience, to enrich the game, to leave it at a better level than what it was when they entered...and if they cannot upgrade/improve, at least do not bring it down......

Sadly, as an Indian - I must admit - humne is aspect mein Izaafa nahi kiya - with the behaviour on field...

i hope for better days, only a few nations play the great game...we surely can do better....

Cheers Mate - and enjoy the Asia Cup win...You guys were better...Kudos to Pak for winning the Asia cup U-19 - good game!

Milte hain u-19 world cup mein :) :ds

During the U19 Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan, Pakistani bowler Ali Raza showed aggression after taking Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s wicket,

Vaibhav Suryavanshi responded with a gesture, implying, “You’re not even equal to the shoes on my feet.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has opened up on the development:

"I have played against India many times as a player, but those matches were against teams that understood the true spirit of the game. Watching from the sidelines this time, I felt their behavior was entirely inappropriate. Specifically, the gesture made by one of their players—which was captured on screen for everyone to see—was highly uncalled for."

"Cricket often involves verbal exchanges; we’ve all been through it. If there is tension and someone speaks to you, you respond verbally. That is part of the game. however, the specific conduct shown by their player crossed a line and should never have happened."

"Regarding our own celebrations, I gave clear instructions to my players: we must celebrate our success, but we must do so with dignity. We should not emulate their behavior. It is vital that we uphold sportsmanship and play the game the right way."

"I told my boys to stay focused on our own performance and support one another. If the opposition chooses to behave poorly, that is their own failure—let them conduct themselves however they wish; we will remain professional."

this batter is a nobody, just a hack that is hyped by bcci and indians

fame already seems to have gotten in his head and he should be careful because the fall is going to be 100x more painful than the phainty he got in the final.

Arrogance comes back to bite every time.

You are confused, he made your bowlers cry and ended Raufs career.
No you are lying

We all saw his post match interview after the second T20i

Keep your Bollywood propaganda away from here. We know who has a knack for distorting the truth!

Many Indians (not all) shut their eyes while their own bowlers and batsmen can visibly be seen swearing "ma, behen". How much more crude Pakistanis gonna be to constitute such an act? The drivel is however expected from Indians.
