[VIDEO] How would Wasim Akram bowl to Babar Azam?

Wasim Akram taking the name of Babar Azam in the same league as players like Lara and Sachin? Are you sure about it? As far as ODIs are concerned, he is right.

Wasim Akram during a TV show talked about how he would bowl to Babar Azam if he was playing today:

"Babar Azam is an exceptional player and is undoubtedly one of the top three batsmen in the world. He plays proper cricketing shots. If there is a pinch hitter on the crease, you know there’s a chance they will try to hit every ball. However, it’s not necessary that every ball will result in a six or a four. For example, when Brian Lara used to open in One Day Internationals, or when facing Sachin Tendulkar, it was difficult to bowl because they used to hit good balls for good shots, and they gave you fewer chances to get them out because they were technically solid. There should be a good delivery for them, or they should be contained. Try to make them take a single and go to the other end. In the beginning, for one or two overs, one should attack a bit."

Wasim Bhai says Babar plays proper cricketing shots and is very difficult to get out. I cant contradict him because he accumulates runs very well in all 3 formats. Might be difficult to find a batsman other than Virat Kohli who would average more than Babar in all three formats combined.

Do you think Wasim would have been able to get him out in today's era?

Make Wasim Bhai play on the Perth wicket with one Duke ball in his hands.... he can make life like a hell for any of the best batsmen.

Babar sitting duck plumb lbw against peak Wasim Akram
Lesser players than Babar have scored plenty of runs against Wasim.

Wasim would get him out and Babar would score against. Pretty much the same story as any duel between two world class players.

Babar hardly gets LBW.... I think Wasim Akram will set him up with a few inswingers and then a away going delivery to get him out at the slips.

In that clip he didn't quite get to the point of how he would actually get him out just said he'd try to get him off strike or try attacking for an over or two.

The Wasim Akram of 1989-1992 will torture Babar. Will pepper him with rapid short pitched deliveries and then surprise him with the fast pitched inswinger or yorker.

Wasim has faced enough great batters in his life. I expect him to dominate all batters from this era (including Babar).

Depends on the era that they play In.

During the one ball era, wasim would murder babar.

During this current era, Wasim is basically japrit bumrah but with better line, length and control, he'd still get babar out but babar can play him.

Looking at the way he was castled by Arshdeep singh he will have little chance. Also Akram can bounce players out if needed.

Peak Wasim with 90s conditions would ruthlessly dominate Babar.

Modern conditions, he would still do well but Babar would score runs too.

Akram would make a fool out of Babar 4 times in every over.

Set up the LBW every time or bounce him out.

Saqlain would spin webs around him too.

On 80s and 90s pitches Akram would make Babar a bunny. On modern pitches, two new balls era, crazy fielding restrictions, bouncer rules, free hits etc. Babar would have the upper hand. Batting is ridiculously easy these days. Today's bowlers deserve more credit.

the question was how he would bowl to Babar so his answer was fine. Getting him out was not the point/

Babar is very sound technically, but I think Akram would work him out in Tests and use his exceptional variation in T20’s.

But in ODI’s Babar would make Akram weep the way Akhtar made Sachin cry like a baby. Babar would spank Akram from genesis to revelations in this format.

Akram is the greatest so obviously he wins this contest 2-1 overall, but don’t forget Babar and his ODI dominance, Babar Aka The Punisher, Akram would be punished severely.

Babar is not in the league of top players. Wasim would make a fool out of him pretty much like McGrath did to Atherton.

As per our brother @sweep_shot , the one who wins the World Cup for his team is greater so Travis Head is a better batsman than Babar Azam.

I find it hilarious how Wasim points out why it would be difficult for him to get Babar out. But fans here think for Wasim getting out Babar would be a piece of cake. 😂

Wasim will cause problems for Babar in red ball on a proper pitch. Babar will be on the winning side more often than not in white-ball cricket.

Yes I agree with you if Babar is playing for Peshawar Zalmi

Any bowler worth their salt will just pitch the ball and forget about the match.

Most likely Babar will score a soft 30 or 40 and find a unique way to get out.

In the unlikely event he scores a 50 or 100, the outcome of the match wont change (if Pakistan is winning, they will win and if Pakistan is losing they will continue to lose).
